Story

Ages come and go, battles are lost and won, and the universe is growing old.

Five years ago a lone fisherman was out on his boat, when a huge storm began to brew. Waves the likes of which had never been seen before swept over his boat. He huddled below decks, trying to keep dry and warm. By the next morning, the storm had subsided and as he scanned the horizon, he spotted land in the distance, land which did not feature on any of his charts. He approached the shore and radioed in his discovery. When his story was told, scientists were extremely intrigued by the find. How was it that this area had never been explored? And why was it not shown on any satellite images?

Explorers flocked in their hundreds searching for new, powerful Pokémon and to map the new land. Early finds were astonishing; it appeared that every possible climate and therefore every species of Pokémon was represented across the region. Spurred on by the thought of fame and glory, researchers scrambled to find concrete proof. Instead, one scientist stumbled upon a secret hidden for millennia: the birth place of the legendary Pokémon Mew, the forefather of all living things. He hid the area and ran from civilisation, not wishing to share the sacred knowledge with anyone else.

Over the years, the temporary settlements turned into towns and cities as the land prospered with growth. Due to popular demand, the Pokémon League Commission set up seventeen gyms spread across the landmass, now named Miryus. In addition, the Official Pokémon League is held every 6 months. Due to the diversity and size of the region, new trainers are allowed to pick from one of the fifteen starter Pokémon from other regions.

Along with the explorers, an elite group of trainers arrived one day, calling themselves ‘The Brutal Five’. They claimed that anyone powerful enough would be allowed to challenge them. At first they lived in town, easily crushing any challengers, however one night several months after they arrived, their residence was found mysteriously empty, with no sign of an organised departure. Rumour has it that they now train in secret attempting to grow closer to nature.

Recently however, a shadow has become cast over not just Miryus, but the entire world. Mew has not been sighted in years, natural disasters shake the planet, ancient tribes and prophets talk of the end of life as we know it and rival factions battle it out for control.

The final battle is coming, and only one question remains. Which side will you take?
