I don't think you can just up and ask a large group of people if any of them want to be your rival. Take ash and gary, for example. Notice anything about them? The fact that they have polar opposite 'tudes, making them naturally constantly want to be better than the other? The problemo I see here is this:
Right now you're pretty much selecting rivals at random. For all you know, you could wind up just being friends with this person, the only difference being that you sometimes remember how you met and call them your rival. A rivalry is caused generally by two people who have a hate-love relationship that's intense to the point where they want to beat up a polar bear just for the sake of being better than the other.
Just sayin'... bro.
