Yeah looks really good for a start!! Just keep messing around in photoshop (or whatever it is that you use, I use paint shop pro) and you'll keep getting better and better! That is what I did, never took classes or whatnot.  I did use a lot of tutorials though.

Also a good thing to note.

MIMICRY is the BEST practice.  Look at someone else's work and try to copy it to the best of your ability.  You will get way better in a very short amount of time.

A few things, How do you make that White Line around the Sprites? How do you get a border on it. Oh and where do you get Fonts?

To get the white line do the following:

Make a selection around whatever you want to have white around (with pokemon this is really easy since they are so pixelated) 
Go to the selection menu and modify > expand (by 1 pixel only)
Then choose the fill tool and fill in the empty part around the sprite with white and there you go!

I also usually put a drop shadow on them (a really small one) to give them more depth.

And I usually get my fonts from dafont.com
