Charmander or Squirtle

Hmm. Well Squirtle being a water type, and Charmander being a fire type, it seems obvious that Squirtle is the best choice of the two. But you're not including the other Kanto starter, Bulbasaur, who can beat Squirtle.

That being said, I still choose Squirtle, who can learn ice type moves and defeat Bulbasaur, who is grass type. Charmander can't learn electric or grass moves to defeat Squirtle, and Bulbasaur (to my knowledge) can't learn water, rock, or ground moves to defeat fire. So, Squirtle seems to be the best choice.

Silver:
I said harry potter because bulbasaur is cooler.
