Charmander or Squirtle

--- Quote from: Chad29 on August 26, 2010, 06:22:02 AM ---I actually consider Bulbasaur the easiest starter of the first generation, as it's helpful against half the gyms. However I still tend to pick Squirtle more.

I normally go with charmander because if forces me to make him nearly twice the normal level for the first few areas so that he can hold his own against Brock and Misty, who would normally hold fire types at a disadvantage. Thus, Charmander quickly becomes so powerful that I can focus on the rest of my team without him lagging behind.
...and Charizard is cool.
I like to think of the starter pokemon in R/B/Y as difficulty curve settings. Bilbasuar makes the game about set at "Normal" for the entire game, Charmander makes the game start on "Hard", then gradually curve towards "Easy", and Squirtle Starts out on "Easy", then the game is set to "Normal" for the rest of the game, except for a few spots of "Hard".
Make sense?
Sorkata:
that makes perfect sense actually =]
Chad29:
Yeah, it makes a lot of sense.

I would rather go with squirtle. First of all, blastoise can learn ice type moves and grass types arent really all that fast. And if im fighting an electric, something like earthquake could be used, but i would rather switch pokemon. And EXP. share could be used too if a pokemon is falling behind.
Sorkata:
now that is very true =X
