(Small) History: He had always been held back by his parents throughout his life.  They wouldn't let him play sports, or go anywhere without them, and they sure wouldn't let him go off on a pokemon journey.  So he sneaked out in the middle of the night and took a pokeball from Professor Birch's lab and set off on his pokemon journey.
