I don't think Lucario is the kind of pokemon you should get near the beginning. He's a bit strong for that.
Lucario is a very popular pokemon. Not without reason, though. A powerful stab attack that doesn't miss, several resistances, and a good movepool.

I meant a Riolu then level him up. Oh and I just like him for his looks, ability to talk, Aura, and Nice Moves.
