queston about starters?

Actually stat wise the starters are fairly weaker than a whole lot of other Pokemon. They are just a bit more balanced and less specialized.

Actually, to the contrary, at the base stat total of 525, Starters are actually in the higher echelons of power.
Quite far above the general average of ~450.
That said they're not exactly pseudo-legendaries.

From what I understand, we'll be able to choose from all starters from every current Pokemon game. Why not have an equal number of random "normal" pokemon to choose from just in case someone wants to start with, say a weedle, instead of a charmander?
The magic of a starter is to choose a pokemon that represents your personality. What if my personality is a bellsrpout and not a bulbasaur? I just think we should have the option, is all.

If you want to start off a Bellsprout or Weedle, you can still catch one and store your starter in your storage system. No one is preventing you from doing that.
