Jerry:
There's a tool which you can use called the Path Tool. You use it to draw smooth curves and when you have the outlines and lines, select the option to strike the path. I would suggest something like using 1 px pencil or you make a really large image then you stroke with paintbrush with appropriate size, after which, you scale down the image, add a small gaussian blur to even off the rough edges made by the down sizing.

I guess you are talking about GIMP, right?
Thanks for the tip anyway. Will see if I can find it.

And here are a few more... As you probably can see, I had Armand's comment in my head while drawing Cubone and Pikachu (Both made with Paint).

#101 Electrode

#25 Pikachu

#104 Cubone

Reafer:
Never used the path tool lol
Could never figure it out and I missed that part in class

Jerry:
If you don't have a tablet to do smooth curves, this is the only other way if you want to make sure your curves end up the way you want, unless you want to use your mouse and try again and again until you get the right curve.

EDIT: Typo 'table' -> 'tablet'

Reafer:
Never used a table for drawing stuff other than class projects.
