What makes a Pokémon to be favoured by you?

"If its tail is extinguished, it will also die like its prior evolution, though this has never happened in the anime or in game."
Charizards page doesn't say it will die but considering the other two die that way I would think charizard would as well.

In the anime,a popular youtubed fight is Magmar vs Charizard,Magmar took Zard into the lava,pardon my ignorance if i'm wrong,but fire needs oxygen to burn,and thus,would not burn submerged in lava.
He came right out and his flame tail was still there.
So,makes me believe that the flame is no more then an indicator of when he's gonna die,and not a weakspot of itself.
Also in the 18th episode of the johto series(Charizard's Burning Ambition),Charizard was thrown into the water,and it's tail flame,still there.

Yea I don't think it is possible to put it out in a physical manner.....Its just as he said an indicator when it will die....I'd say they need to reword it to when it goes out not put out....But at the same time laws of physics doesn't apply to Pokemon apparently....Just like how in one episode they was able to sit all night in an inclosed cave....without suffocating from charmanders tail....lol
