GrizzlyEatsKids:
I hink I actually stated a while back a bunch of the logical rreasons why a new type is unlikely, although I don't think it specifically dealt with fairy. Not getting into that again, but I stilll say no, there  will not be a new type.

Desbear:
Actually, let me link y'all to a theory, it has to do with the official pokemon TV show in japan, pokemon smash.

Okay, I couldn't find it, but I can quote one that has the same outcome.

--- Quote ---Pokémon Smash

A little while back, Pokémon Smash had promised that they would give some sort of news about Sylveon, and they did not disappoint me.
After their normal anime re-run, they moved on to a segment on Sylveon where they were "testing which types Sylveon fits". Their findings were:

quote Pokéjungle
The hosts tested to see if Sylveon was Fighting – she failed.
Next they tested to see if she was strong against ice – she was!
She was strong against Ice, so they tested if she was Steel by using poison type on her – She wasn’t resistant
Now answer this: Do any of the characteristics fit any existing type?
The only four types that are super effective against the Ice-type are Fire, Fighting, Steel, and Rock. Flareon has the "honor" of being the Fire-type Eeveelution, and it has already been said that Sylveon is not a Fighting-type, leaving Rock-type and Steel-type. However, Steel was also ruled out, leaving Rock-type.

But is Sylveon a Rock-type? Highly doubtful. Is Sylveon a new type? Most likely.

--- End quote ---

So, fairy type could still be a thing. Not keeping my hopes up though.

GrizzlyEatsKids:
As expected, it has been officially announced that X & Y will be shown at E3 (Nintendo is holding a conference there, just has a booth).

From Serebii:

As has been announced within their E3 schedule, Nintendo is due to have a special Pokémon X & Y Presentation/Q&A at one of the roundtables following their Nintendo Direct presentation. This Q&A is to run on June 11th at 6pm Pacific time within the E3 halls and will last 90 minutes. It is run by Junichi Masuda and Tsunekazu Ishihara, the president of The Pokémon Company. It is unknown if the content for this Q&A will be broadcast on the internet, but we'll provide details as it comes

PkMn Trainer Black:
Then our beliefs will be put to rest a little after that.

eelectros(with a ability), sableye, and spirtomb all have 0. Besides it would still be weak to fairy, ice, poison ,and steel. There are TONS  of pokemon with only 1 or 2 weaknes , so I doubte 4 weaknesses will make a op type combo.
