The answer to that some weeks ago, if I recall well, was that playing with the keyboard is the priority, making it work with the joystick would be considered later.
No one can go back and change a bad beginning; but anyone can start now and create a successful ending.
If a problem can be solved, no need to worry about it. If it cannot be solved what is the use of worrying?

Currently playing Pokemon XY/ORAS/Shuffle and Clash of Clans and testing out PokemonRevolutionOnline and Dragonmon Hunter....

Unless your joystick picks up automatically on default keyboard movement for any game then yes; if not then you're probably never going to see that, and if you do it won't be till much later.

I can't even understand why you would want a joystick for a game like this. Most of the joysticks I see, have about a billion different buttons, and allow for movement on several axes. Guess what? In this game, a joystick with that capability is wasted. It would make more sense if you wanted to use a game controller, but even then, I'm not sure. Besides, using an input device, kind of ruins the chat, but maybe you weren't planning on using that.

Oh well, if it really means that much to you to use an input device, perhaps you will see one implemented some time in the future, but for now, let me just say that the keyboard, is working just fine.

It's possible because SDL (look it up) supports it, but we're not going to implement it.

IDK if this will help.
but there is JoytoKey, which allows you to place any command for any button.
for instance, if you were to press the A button (button 1) on your 360 controller (since i use one) then the keyboard A (or any other key you want) will be pressed instead.

there is more info and a download at this site.

hope that helps...

Question; If the game does eventually become joystick operated at some point [along with keyboard operated], would it be Xbox controller compatible also?

the 360 controller works as a joystick on the computer, since it has the same buttons commands (mostly) as a joystick. it should work

if not joytokey away   ;D
