What Are Your Goals On Pokemon Universe?

Frenchfry:
anyone who uses calculations like that to beat a video game needs to take the advice of advice dog and GO OUTSIDE. I get, you know, the programmers knowing it, but seriously. It's easier to catch with low health. Turning it into a math problem kind of defeats the purpose of playing Pokemon. If you want math, just go play Yugioh.

Jerry:
Nah... the math that pokemon contains is more fun :P

Chad29:
I wonder if anyone out there uses the math for determining the IVs of a pokemon. i saw it somewhere. The hatched pokeon needs to be brought up to level 10 (via rare candy is recommended), then you have this equation for telling if their IVs really are better than the other pokemon of the same type you hatched.

It's complicated, but out of all that one good thing to remember is to compare stats from pokemon above a certain level for better accuracy.

Jerry:
I do. I look up what are the stats of the pokemon at level 10 with 31 IVs, and look up the range that those stats might mean. For my competitive pokemon that is. I don't care if they were to be used tor in-game.

I use serebii's IV calculator for that, and yes, the higher the level, the more accurate you'll estimate the IV. I also noticed that using the multiples of 10 give better estimates too.

Any breeder worth his lick of salt (What does that even mean? It's like... a double meaning. Might even be triple.) uses IV calculators, or the formula if the internet is not handy, to determine a Pokemon's IVs. It's how you produce breeding chains to get Pokemon with near flawless IV's or the specific ones you want.
