I don't see any need to remove the sign? It references the fountain behind it. The sign at the right entrance/exit and left entrance/exit of the town are indicators of what area you would be entering if you were to go either east or west.

now that i look at it could it be the fact that the fence is connected to the sign?
also the corners at the bottom fenced in area have pieces of fence hanging off too

florence, putting a teeny tiny cave in an urban town is a little bit weird. An OP, there's no tall grass in towns.
