Title: Another show-off thread...
Post by: TheSolx on January 02, 2012, 04:16:57 PM
... with nothing to show off.... ???

Just kidding, but they suck though.

#42 Golbat
It's actually Mr_D's fault I drew this. I asked for a number between 1-120, he said 42... Well, I guess I could blame Douglas Adams, but... Anyway, it went much better than I expected.

#112 Rhydon
I drew this a while back... before X-mas anyway. The reason? Because after I joined EE, Rhydon have been my favorite Pokemon :) Think I've posted this somewhere already though... >_>

#197 Umbreon
I drew this one before X-mas too. Not really sure why... I wanted to draw Eevee, but got problems with the fur, so I started on Umbreon instead... Made it too big, so didn't get the whole thing in one window :-\

Updates to these will hopefully come soon. At least Rhydon... If you want to check on updates I don't post here, check out my Pokemon Art Folder on DeviantART :)

I don't have a scanner, so I didn't really draw it... on paper... I used GIMP 2.0 when "drawing" Rhydon and Umbreon, and pixlr.com on Golbat. It's much easier to use Pixlr, but I need internet... GIMP have pretty much the same features, but Pixlr have better... uh... steering? Well, it's easier anyway :P

I'm using Gimp also I love it. I thought you drew it on a program, but to be honest it does look to good to be drawn with a mouse so that's why I thought you either used a table,t or drew it by hand.

A couple of new ones :)

This time it's Kamaran (#20) and FrenchFry (#1) who "choosed" :P I will also do Diglett later, probably tomorrow... Kamaran, you've gotta remind me about that, or I'll forget

Seriously, TheSolx, you have the image and you just copy it's shapes and the only thing you do is to use their color. Everyone can do that but you can't make a image ONLY WITH YOUR MIND. •_•

If you have a problem with that, no one is forcing you to like this, or even look at it. I'll probably do something from my own mind later, when I've gotten better at drawing with Paint and GIMP and learned how to fully use all the features and stuff.
Until then, I'll continue with this...

And the colors and shading I do pretty much by my own mind, if that's better. I just see where it would fit, and look at the picture a few times just to make it look right.
And if I did it wholly by my own mind, it still wouldn't be. It wouldn't be my designs

There's a tool which you can use called the Path Tool. You use it to draw smooth curves and when you have the outlines and lines, select the option to strike the path. I would suggest something like using 1 px pencil or you make a really large image then you stroke with paintbrush with appropriate size, after which, you scale down the image, add a small gaussian blur to even off the rough edges made by the down sizing.

I guess you are talking about GIMP, right?
Thanks for the tip anyway. Will see if I can find it.

And here are a few more... As you probably can see, I had Armand's comment in my head while drawing Cubone and Pikachu (Both made with Paint).

If you don't have a tablet to do smooth curves, this is the only other way if you want to make sure your curves end up the way you want, unless you want to use your mouse and try again and again until you get the right curve.

EDIT: Typo 'table' -> 'tablet'

Never used a table for drawing stuff other than class projects.

Glad you do :) Pikachu and Voltorb are the best ones so far... also made Geodude and Slowpoke today, but I'm not sure I'll post them... looks like crap...
