I say it's an April Fools joke. No money in the Pokemon games? Please..

It was an April fool's hoax, but nonetheless I still enjoy the concept. Take a few years out of the rpg concept and move Pokemon in a new direction, say a mmorpg? :P

Plus, then they could take the time to create a platform version of the games in 3D. It's about time they smartened up and made the games accessible outside of hand-held gamers' hands. I still have a hard time understanding the lack of a truly console based rpg in the entire series' history. They've done so many amazing break-through concepts from using the link-cable as a source of non-competitive gaming to using voice commands and linking hand-held games to consoled games. I think it's time for Nintendo to make the leap...

Imagine the possibilities if Bioware had the rights to the game? They know how to bring about a good RPG, like Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age: Origins...

Anime & Movies / Pokemon + Warner Bros?

Warner Bros. to make Pokemon movie after obtaining all copyrights

In a stunning exchange of money for copyrights yesterday, Gamefreak, the Pokemon Company, Nintendo, and 4Kids entertainment sold all Pokemon copyrights to entertainment giant Warnerbros Inc. The exchange has been ground-breaking in Japan, and hundreds of protesters gathered outside the Gamefreak building as the final document was signed. Police were sent in to break up the crowd, and Barry M. Meyer, chairman of Warner Bros, stepped out of the building. He was met with boos as he walked to his limousine, but soon found peace in the airport.

"The first thing we are planning to do is stop making the games," said Meyer, "There is not enough profits in their productions. Instead, we're going to start making a real, live Pokemon movie. I have just gotten a call from our studios now that our developers have already begun creating the 'real life Pokemon.'"

Many Pokemon players around the world are not happy about this. A demonstration outside of Warner Bros. headquarters this morning amassed approximately 1000 individuals from around L.A. and area.

"It's not fair to the gamers," said Will Hayder, a demonstration leader, "I mean, wasn't Nintendo already producing another generation [of Pokemon]? This is very sudden."

TIM, a host of popular Japanese TV show Pokemon Sunday, was also stunned at the exchange, "I have heard behind-the-scene talks about this kind of thing, but I never expected it to happen. We are going to have to cancel the show."

Warner Bros. has already begun production of the movie, with a production time estimate of 2-3 years. "The CGI will be amazing," assures Meyers, "This will definitely be like Avatar."

I dunno how I feel about this. Ending the game seems logical, only to have it return in a few years in a better incarnation (without the ridiculous addition of even more pokemon). But I'm really excited for the concept of a live action/cgi movie. It seems hardcore.

My source, btw, is found here http://pokedream.com/

so what do you guys think?

simple...

that goddamn Jynx because i've never agreed with a female jello mold waving her tits and singing at me...

Farfetch'd cuz they made him useless

Sudowoodo, why don't you do anything epic?

and above all else, I hate how the pokemon moved from acceptable mixes of animals and other things, into these ridiculous combinations of crap. Best example ever in 3.....2.....1.... http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Nosepass_%28Pok%C3%A9mon%29

this is not an animal. it is a rip-off of easter-island statues that now have effing legs

what happened to the realism?

So i'm not exactly new, kinda weedled my way into these forums a while back, but beyond excited for Pokemon Universe, since World is... well, it could be beta

anyways, I've been a pokemaniac since red/blue, but kinda fell out after gold/silver :(
all the new pokemon, it seemed excessive while game play didn't have any major breakthroughs that kept me interested. However PU seems to know exactly what people want

Hope I don't offend any mod Gods (or Godesses), and keep up the awesome work

General Chat / Re: Gary Oak

Gary Oak was the nice guy...
In the original Pokémon Red/Blue, when you encounter your rival in Lavender Town he asks whether or not you know what it’s like to have one of your Pokémon die. At this point in the game, he no longer has his Raticate that he used in previous battles.

Your rival battle before this took place aboard the S.S. Anne. Your rival’s Raticate sustained serious injuries from the battle… but, because crowding and confusion on the luxury liner, he was unable to make it to a Pokémon Center in time and the Raticate passed away. The real reason your rival is in Lavender Town to begin with is to lay his deceased friend to rest.

Despite all of this, your rival never outwardly tells you that you’re responsible for the death of his Pokémon. He hides his grief and instead channels that energy into the motivation he needed to continue his quest to become Indigo League Champion. The death of his Raticate effectively destroys your rival’s impish, childhood innocence. Although he tells himself that he doesn’t hold you responsible, he subconsciously holds a great deal of resentment towards you which further fuels his ambitions.

Tearfully swearing upon his Raticate’s grave to not fail in what he set out to do, he trains hard in hopes of becoming better than you… defeating you… and to eventually make it to the Pokémon League. Mere moments after he became Indigo League champion, he was defeated… by you. Although he fulfilled his promise to his fallen Pokémon, it was only for a painfully brief instant.

In the end, your rival is scolded by his grandfather while you receive the professor’s praise. During the course of the game, you steal your rival’s innocence, crush his dreams, and ultimately snatch away the love of his own grandfather.

Oh, and by the way, your rival doesn’t have any parents. He’s an orphan.

Saw this, and knew it had to be added ^_^

I'm pretty sure the lights were motion sensored.

haven't heard of anything like that, but it does sound possible

Not plausible. I checked with the city about the lights. No cemetery uses motion sensors on their lights unless attached to a building. ^_^ sorry to burst that theory.

Plus if they were motion-sensored lights, then what would explain the changes in the patterns? They didn't always follow the same sequence, or any sequence for that matter.
