Slaking maybe. He just likes to lay around and relax, but if you mess with him he will grind you into paste. Much like me, except I can't beat anyone up for messing with me.

Ideas & Suggestions / Hidden Power
« on: August 02, 2010, 11:48:20 PM »
Can we change hidden power so it's easier to get the one we want. Back when I played Shoddy Battle sometimes we'd use Hidden Power to give a pokemon an attack type that they otherwise couldn't use. Even though it's not quite as useful to physical attackers, and has a base power of 70 (I think), it's still useful.

However it depends on IVs, and getting exactly what you want is very difficult in a game where you can't readily alter your pokemon's IVs. so can we change it to something easier, perhaps?

Every MMO I've played has stuff you can buy with real money. This does cause an imbalance, but it also helps pay for the game. As long as it doesn't keep you from fully playing the game, I'm all right with it.

I would like there to be NPCs willing to do trades, like in the handheld games. Someone is willing to trade a Kadabra for X. You find X, trade, and get an Kadabra that evolves into an Alakazam.

Since it will be possible to specialize, I will try to become a renown water pokemon user, and make a great Rain Dance team. Though not all of my pokemon will be water type. Especially since Toxicroak (poison/fighting) has a good ability called dry skin that works in rain.

I'll also be running around with a Parasect to use for catching pokemon, as I made a really nice pokemon catcher out of a Parasect.

I can't blame you for forgetting some pokemon exits when we have several hundred of them.

I think Mantine is fine. It actually learns a flying type attack, unlike Gyarados, and is a good special sponge.

Unknown was created to be the pokemon version of a secret code, even though most of the letters they take the shape of are easily identifiable.

You want us to post in a thread that hasn't been posted in since April? Most boards I go to have a cut off date for old threads that's around 30 days. After that it's encouraged to start a new thread.

It's been over 3 months since that other thread was last posted in.

Pokemon like Picharisu and Plusle/Minun. If you're going to make a pokemon with no evolutions, don't make them so weak. Dunsparce is in this group too.

Too many of a certain type of pokemon. Do we really need three different normal type versions of a cat? Persian was fine, and Delcatty is ok if you think of it like a pampered housecat as opposed to a feral cat like Persian. But Purugly? Why? This also includes too many of a certain type. Of course this goes along with my believe that we have way too many pokemon in total. Coming out with new pokemon each generation is all well and good, but does it have to be 100+ each time?

From a strategic standpoint you have some pokemon like Camerupt. Low defenses and health do not go well with low speed, especially when your signature move loses power when you lose health.

As a final off topic note, I'm posting in this old thread because a Mod locked a recent best or worst thread and linked to this one, telling the OP to use the search function. It seems odd for a Mod to do this for such an old thread, but whatever.

Trainers Lounge / Re: Your Starter Pokemon
« on: August 01, 2010, 02:32:56 PM »
I usually build my team around my starter. I ususally have a four pokemon team of my water starter, a local flying type, Geodude, and an electric type. Like in Fire Red I had Blastoise, Pidgeot, Golem, and Jolteon. I use the other two slots for utility pokemon/HM slaves. I like saying utility pokemon because it's less demeaning.

Water types for the win!

Weird. I checked the pages tor a thread like this but didn't see one, so I started my own thread. Maybe I was looking in the wrong place?

Anyway, I mentioned that very few types resist water attacks, and aside from pokemon with water absorb and hydration nothing is immune to it. There are also a lot of dual water types out there.

I do like some other pokemon like Infernape, Jolteon, Rhyperior, Scizor, Charizard, ect.

You and everyone else, Dustin. :)

Since it seems we can specialize, I will try to be the best water trainer. Though I will have other types like Jolteon, Infernape, and stuff.

Welcome fellow newbie.

Trainers Lounge / Favorite pokemon type?
« on: July 31, 2010, 10:08:55 PM »
Does anyone have a favored type? Has anyone ever tried using a mono type team like they do in gyms?

Mine is water. It's only resisted by three types, and nothing is immune except pokemon with the Hydration and Water Absorb abilities. There's a part water type for almost every other type out there, which makes setting up a mono type team easy. Plus when I play the games I usually find a flying type and Geodude early which covers my water starter's weaknesses.

« on: July 31, 2010, 05:39:36 PM »
I like being able to make a relevant background for a box, and put certain types in it. Like have a river background for my water types and a volcano background for my fire types.

I'd like there to be at least one background for every type, and 17 boxes. although I also like to put my unknowns in their own box, and have one main box that pokemon get sent to before I rearrange them.

Being able to organize pokemon into boxes with nice backgrounds would be awesome.

Yeah I read the notice saying don't ask that. It's not out yet, and the release date isn't set in stone. I understand.

Edit: Oh, that's your signature. You just typed welcome, and I read your signature as part of your post. :P
