Art Work / Re: Map Showroom (PKMN)
« on: April 01, 2010, 04:55:29 PM »
Just tried out a small starter town for a project I plan on doing. This is my first attempt at a map so let me know any errors/tips please, and be as harsh as you want. I used Advanced map with fire red/leaf green tileset.

I put Squirtle, but I'm kinda torn between him and Charmander.
Same, they are both immense.

General Chat / Re: What pokemon would you choose for your team?

Not the most diverse team, but i'm a first gen player and you could complete that game with just a few moves on any pokemon...so:

1. Gengar - Obviously for shadow ball/sludge bomb, then psychic and thunderbolt to reap the rewards of his high spec att.
2. Lapras - Good defense, and nice to have surf and ice beam...maybe even psychic and thunderbolt again (why not?)
3. Dragonite - So many good TM's to stick on him, always immense
4. Aggron - Not 1st gen, but with pretty much any type attack possible, is good to stick out against a heavy physical attack hitter.
5. Rapidash/Arcanine/Ninetales - depends on my mood, whether I want elegance, aggression or cuteness...is it just me or did they really get fire pokemon just right in first gen?
6. Squirtle - wouldn't fight other pokemon, he'd just sit on my shoulder. And if I was doing really badly he'd be my backup cute pokemon, with big eyes, to persuade the enemy not to kill me...in the knowledge if they didnt take mercy he'd leap at them and bite their shins...he he

Ideas & Suggestions / Re: Guild Ideas
« on: March 28, 2010, 03:25:56 AM »
There will be guilds, this has already been discussed here: http://pokemon-universe.com/index.php?topic=51.0

Sorry, just read, although in that thread the idea of guilds hosting tournaments is touched upon, I was merely suggesting a new format for guild battles. This would encourage comradeship within guilds, and rivalry amongst guilds

Ideas & Suggestions / Guild Ideas
« on: March 28, 2010, 01:29:11 AM »
I'm not sure what the plan is on guilds and ranking them (or even if they will exist) but I have an idea about guild battles (where two guilds have a match), in fact I have two:

  • Basically, the two guilds organise a match, where they each have an agreed number of members, and they number these members from 1 upwards, then submit the list to some sort of match organiser bot. (no idea how that would work) But anyway, then those members have to battle their opposing number in a given time, and the guild with the most wins wins the match. (This is based on the Ryder cup - Golf)
  • Another way could be based on the Davis Cup (Tennis) where a guild submits a few single members, and possibly a double (although this would require double battles) and everyone plays everyone from the other guild's submitted team, and again most wins takes the match

Then rankings of guilds could be done on matches, i.e. wins/loses plus bonuses for walkovers (win all battles in a match). Just an idea, what do we think?

I'm not sure if this has been asked but regarding the transit system, will this be a real time system? As in will there be a train timetable, planes/boats leaving at certain times?

OR will it be a case that you just go to the station, buy a ticket for a certain cost, then you travel immediately.

In either case, will some amount of playing time be lost to travelling? And will this depend on distance?

Sorry, another question: Supposing it is a real time system, and some time is lost to travelling, then, will the modes of transport be explorable areas. I noticed this commend from Mr Dark:

I know boats have been implemented in games before... but how about a luxury cruise ship with a pokemart, pokemon center and possibly other stores and rooms... I believe this would be innovative.

Yes, we're already planning to implement such a ship. :)

So is this a one off or will all public transport be like this?

(Sorry a lot of questions, on a subject some might consider boring, but I just wanted an idea on how slick it will be?)

For me, water and ice master...so I'm thinking some combination of:
Dewgong, Walrein, Lapras, Starmie, Kingdra, Empoleon, Sharpedo, Poliwrath etc....

Fear me fire fans!  >:(

Hi, new to PU

Looks like someone is doing what we wanted when red/blue first came out (although then we just imagined a world where all gameboys could be linked)

Keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to it!
