basicly you wont need to do this for EVERY move. i guess its just an 'insert' you could do for every of moves avaible.

i personly dont like the whole idea of pokemon holding items. its not really RP like to fight against a lapras holding something... but its more likely that pokemon are traing their attacks to be stronger, isnt it?

but as far as mr_dark isnt responding, i guess its not possible to implement such a 'ability-training' :-(

Hey dont give up.
If you get a full list of items and stuff you would like to see, complete with numbers and perfectly balanced, and you can prove to the devs that its gonna bring the game to a new lvl I bet they will implement it.
Keep working on your idea!

Here's how it will be unless someone comes with a brilliant other idea:
Current HM's will turn into regular moves (not sure yet how these will be obtainable for your Pokemon). Things like surf and strength will be abilities, in other words your Pokemon can learn to do them (probably by doing a quest) but it won't take up an attack slot.

So how does that work for pokemon that wish to use SURF as an attack?

I think you misunderstood the idea. The plan was to have a slot where an HM could be taught BUT not used in battle. For example the extra slot would only allow you to use the HM to surf on the sea and not to use the attack in a battle.

Aight so what if I wanna use a HM as a move in battle? ... Do I have to teach it twice to the same pokemon? And since it quest based in PU that would make it even more inconvenient

There are no HM in PU. Special moves are learned by doing quests. D:

Learning special moves on the other hand, and it's limitation to one move per pokemon is kinda pointless. Why? Because special moves usually don't give much of an effect or any advantage. As for an extra ability slot... why? What if you also want to use it as an attack?

Fill me in if I missed something.

Indeed, there are a number of pokemon who for example uses the move SURF as a STAB base attack, its a 100% hit reliable pretty decent water attack if you dont like the miss chance that hydro pump has.
So if your just adding a HM slot to each pokemon, water types would get a HUGE advantage, actully getting 1 extra usable attack.
If you however add an extra moveslot altogether another problem arises. Balance. The thing is you are only allowed to select 4 moves, and by implementing a 5th slot we might be opening up for some really lame combos aswell as imbalance.
Also as it stands today not all pokemon could even utilize 5moves (atleast not as well as others) again making another gap in the meta game.
And with 5 moveslots you could go for 3 support/boost moves+baton pass AND an attack...  Examples;


-Thunder
-Hydropump
-Earthquake
-Fireblast
-Rest

How fun would that be?
Im not sure such a pokemon exists... but yeah, doesnt look to fun does it?

Edit: im actully gonna check for some 5move combos... BRB :)

Aight found one...

Espeon:

- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Baton Pass
- Substitute
- Wish

Now that doesnt look fun at all. Pokemon like this would be the top of the OU meta-game, no competition

Well I like the suggestion, kinda. Its a nice idea.
But I feel that if players are going to be able to join that kinda ruins it for me... Even is its limited a  polisforce cant rely on real players to handle ingame events.
I say make the "G-men" or whatever you descide to call the police force, something only Game Masters and developers can join. Just to let everyone know "Im here, im an admin, behave"
Ofcourse the bulk of the Police would be NPC controlled.

If too many people want to spectate one battle, it might make that part of the map become laggy.


I suggest that if the PU devs do infact include spectating, there should be a limit on how many people can spectate at once.

i actually ment that the trainers increasing the power of the pokemon!
a pokemon of a newbie trainer shouldnt be as strong as a pokemon of an expierenced.
Yeah I read your post on the other thread and I took the liberty and copied a thing you said, putting it under your name ofc. Great idea btw.

and how about these?

Scout - You scout the area carefully instead of attacking, you now know the area as the back of you hand (hey is that a new birth mark?) making your Pokemon have x% chance to gain the upper hand making them get 1+prio when attacking. Lasts 2turns

Change to sleep,poison, burn and leach seed.
I was thinking guys, maybe there areas need a bit of updating to?
Pokemon is burned, enemy uses water attack; the effect is removed.
Pokemon gets leach seeded, enemy uses fire attack, leach seed is burned away.
Pokemon gets frozen. Attacker uses fighting move, the ice shatters (dont wanna stack effects on fire here)
Pokemon gets slept. Attacker uses any attacking move, user wakes up the NEXT turn but is confused.

no item using in pvp. it would be lame i guess.

suggestion:
for winning pvp battles you get equippement for your trainer. clothes etc. Those special clothes got effects for all of your pokemon.

explenation:
when a trainers pvp master, he got clothes that impress your pokemon :-D
or that scare the enemys pokemon. :-)
item:
cloak of quickness
your pokemon got an 50% higher agility for the first turn it gets in the fight.

bracers of xxx
your enemys pokemon are scared of your aura. they lose 10 stages of health.

something like that^^

Ok, this is kinda like.. gear right? You get gear, up your stats etc..
I honestly believe this is taking it a bit far from what Pokemon is about.
Its about the Pokemon, and how you train them and use them, not about the trainer getting new clothes to impress his Pokemon....
Also this would probably create LOADS of problems, and I think it will be a real hassle to get to work in the game, not only coding wise, but also balance wise.

But nevertheless, thanks for contributing.

Yes, you are definitely right. We will need to reduce the % of the critical hit part, but I don't think the speed part is to over-powering. It needs to be fairly high if it is going to be somewhat of a special skill.

The thing is, when I try and think of a skill or pvp item, I think of something that is useful instead of attacking, but it shouldnt be something thats "OMG ITS SO GOOD I USE NOW!"
Even the 50% extra crit chance is already a HUGE bonus, some moves will be 100% with this skill!
I want to create a scenario where players have a hard time choosing if to attack or if to use the skill, this way the match becomes allot more interesting, instead of having players use all their skills right of the bat. Get my point?

Info: The active pokemon has an 80% chance of attacking first and a 50% chance of getting a critical hit.


Effective Until......

The enemy pokemon uses a speed lowering attack or....

The enemy pokemon uses a water, poison, or ground attack that will essentially lower the speed even though it doesn't say it did.

That sounds a bit op right there m8... But hey, its going on the list, tweaking can be done later :D.

And I think skills that would replace pokemon moves shouldnt be included. But im adding it anyways, il take some help from the PU team to sort out good and bad ones later :)
