For instance I called my Magnemite, Stripper

Streaker used Flash!

I always named my Magikarp 'retard', so when he ran out of splash PP, it would say,
"Retard used FLAIL!"

Hahaa I did have a clefairy once called "Stalkmeplz" so when it used Follow me in a double battle it said "Stalkmeplz became the center of attention"  ;D

I used to name my Totodile back in the original GSC era Chocodile, which was on a whim after playing it over during breakfast and I rather liked it. Then I found a few people on the internet had also named him similarly and I felt completeness over keeping him that way.

Otherwise, I usually just pick something random, keep it the same, or choose something I feel fits the Pokemon's personality. I had an unevolved Makuhita for all of HGSS named Gruul.

I have to confess that I do not rename my Pokemon.  I'm on a mission to learn as many names as possible and nicknaming them would not help me out too much.

So I just re-started my Platinum game yesterday and as I was training my Kricketot,
I encountered my first ever shiny Sinnoh pokemon, a level 4 bidoof.
I named her "Bibro"!
