i have to say that the first generation games are the best because it focuses on the basics of pokemon. i know it is fun and exciting to get the newer generations and see all the new stuff but under the updates is the basic pokemon foundation that everyone loves. without the first generation pokemon is nothing.

oh like that... so i like the third gen because it contains lots of new pokemon with awesome type instead of the second gen which contain the basic and the three new type(correct this if i wrong)... i always focus on the type not the appereance(well, only about 30%)...

y'all got it all wrong. second gen is the best. the first gen was more of a "yeah, that's good. let's *try* that" while the second was more of the "now that we know what we're doing..."

i liked them all. gen 4 was the worst though.
but... i guess the first gen was the best cuz it was the first one i ever played. And when my ivysaur evolved i was scared of venusaur.

The 1st and 2nd Gen were the best the other generation is unnecessary..
The 2nd Gen Gold/Silver was my favorit and now i can play HeartGold/Soulsilver.. ;D

Well the R/S/E generation has my favorite starters for sure but as a whole I like the first generation, I hate the second and the fourth with a passion.

Second Gen. The first gen was incredible and then the second gen came out and it was just epic. After that it started getting lame.

The 1st and 2nd generations were, imo, the best. Maybe b/c I was young and the experience seemed epic at the time.

2nd Gen, AKA Johto, was Epic in my book because it took something old, renewed it and came with interesting glitches *coughcoughPCclones* :)

I liked the second gen. There wasn't like a gajillion pokemon, the rival was almost as cool as Gary, and Crystal was the first to implement the gender choosing option.

Red/Blue/Yellow FTW... Nothing else compares.
Very similar to movies. The first edition is better than any sequel 99% of the time.

Gen 1 and 2, but mainly 2, both in terms of Pokémon and the games. GSC and subsequentially HG/SS are the best Pokémon games ever. Gen 3 was pretty cool on a different level too, and then gen 4 was just pretty lame.

3rd gen all the way. While i did get much excitement from the first two, nothing compares to the third gen. I actually caught every pokemon in the third gen using ruby ans sapphire. Most of my favorite pokemon come from that generation.

It's a toss up between Gen 2 and Gen 3. Honestly, Gen 2 introduced my two favorite types: Steel and Dark. So, that gives it major points. It also seemed more like a sequel to RBY, giving the story an extra push that the new ones lack.
I loved Gen 3 though for a number of reasons: the graphics, being one. They were so crisp, clean, and bright. It was an amazing step up. The Pokemon I also liked, unlike quite a few others it seems on the internet. It introduced a few of my favorites. The last being for the extras that came with Emerald.
I have to give Gen 4 credit, though, for introducing the physical / special split in moves. The single handedly altered the way competitive battling was played.

It would have to be R/B/Y and G/S/C. Even though they lack graphics they have much better story then the others!

First or 3rd Gen is a toss up. I only like pokemon that evolve twice. I don't know why but thats a prerequeist to be on my team. First generation had cool guys like Alakazam and Dragonite. 3rd Gen had Salemance and Metagross. Both generations had really diverse sets of pokemon, with creative designs. I found generation 2 a little stale and generation 4 a little weird.

So many people seem to hate Gen 3, but it was one of my favorites.

I remember playing yellow as the most fun I had with pokemon, though Ruby was good too. I know everyone seems to love Gen 2, but I actually got bored with that one.

It was hard to choose between 3 and 4, but I chose 4, because of some of the new things implemented in the games. I liked the Poketch (I think that's how you spell it..) and some of the new Pokemon were cool.

Well, I only love the first generation of pokemon to be honest.
I've watch every episode of the first season of pokemon and have also downloaded it... Sometimes I watch it again, because it's so awesome :P
But the second generation was... meh. At first I thought it would be cool, I was like "Yeah, new pokemon!" (C'mon, I was 11 years old :P) But when the episodes came, and new pokemon cards (Oh yes, I was a collector) I pretty much lost my interest in pokemon. Because they messed it up with all the new pokemon coming out :(.
In my personal opinion, they should have stayed with the first 151 pokemon!

honestly 4 stat wise some of the strongest pokemon came from 4 but honestly i like 3 the best
(but 5 looks cool)

Generation 3... it was OK pretty good
Generation 4... not so good
Generation 5... we will find out next year
So i think that they gradually decreased in quality
decreasing... its a problem but i expect it to change this generation

I'm one of those weird people who's liked every generation as it's released, even though I was part of the hype for almost all of them. Was so stoked for gen 2 back in the day, just because it was a sequel you know? It'd be unnatural to not be excited about it. The gen 3 comes along, and it's on a brand new system, with graphics that look absolutely stunning when compared to the first two generations, so it was just the way it looked if anything that made me look forward to it. Gen 4 introduced soooo many features that made Pokemon more enjoyable, Wi Fi being the biggest one.
If you had told me 10 years ago that one day I could trade with someone in Japan, I would've thought you were crazy.
