Game Features / Re: Poke' stats?
« on: January 07, 2010, 08:11:15 PM »
Maybe, just maybe, we could add that when entering the PokéLeague (PvP), you will have to sign 10 pokemons up. This will allow any trainer to use a combination of those 10 when he/she chooses 6 to battle with as normally and then later on he/she can choose another combination of those 10 pokemons which are signed up.

Any opponent will be able to see which 10 pokemons are "in play" and the levels of them, but not which ones the player has chosen for his/hers next battle, nor any stat or move of the pokemons.

I like that idea. I'd hate to get caught in a situation where my opponent specializes in water and I bring out mi team of charmeleons.

Another issue that deals with statistics are quitters. In alot of multiplayer games, one may come across a few sore losers after a while. I would hate to have mi experience ruined by a bunch of kids that are afraid to lose. DO you think it owould be possible to add a flee counter? or something telling opposing trainers how often this player is most likely to quit a battle.

If there are going to be guilds (not sure if this has been discussed), would it be possible to have a special guild (An organization of NPCs most likely) that would consist of the best of the best.

An example would be kind of like the ??s in the pokemon Gameboy series. Every player (it may be impossible to do every player but maybe 10-20 a day?) randomly comes across one of these players (every so often) and battles.  These ??s wont be too too hard but the difculty could be set higher than the average NPCs around.

These random events would give trainers something to look forward to because beating them has the potential to earn rare rewards. (maybe not rare but decent rewards)

When a player's character gets to a certain level, a new set of pokemon would be used in a battle to continue to give the player something to work up to.

After finally defeating these ??s , the player could get rewards ranging from money to items to lottery tickets to pokemon etc.

The vertical lines actually look much worse when there are more than two trees, and it's been fixed. The shadows may end up just being round for all the trees, I think it will look less fussy that way.

I dont think the appearance of a group of trees is all that important. Im all for realism in a game but its called a game for a reason. I dont think anyone in the history of gaming spends any valuable time nit-picking over a tree.  I dont think anyone has ever quit a game because one rock didnt look exactly like a rock (more like a shoe). I think that something as simple as a tree can be fixed in a future patch or completely ignored. Not all trees in real life are perfect anyway.

Id rather have a great gaming experience  catching, roaming, and having a good time with horrible terrain than a game with the greatest landscaping job of all time and looks amazing but runs like mi 3 legged dog.

Quests & Plots / Re: Hunting (Idea)
« on: January 05, 2010, 07:10:28 PM »
The experience doesnt have to be for just pokemon. I read somewhere that the player would have levels too. (on a separate scale)

You could have a simple quest idea like

** spot 10 ghost pokemon**

After you spot them, Im sure the player has either caught or defeated them in battle. Im sure that is worth some kind of player experience.

My suggestion doesnt include the tiles or anything like that (I dont think); but the chat, I think, should be changed. The words go through the player's name. I think that having a "mini" bubble above/below the players name (above the sprite's head) would be better. I read, somewhere, that there would be a local chat and world chat.

While playing in MMOs like runescape, guild wars, and WoW world chat flies by so fast and it can be hard to see the player speaking and the entire message. Sometimes a player may have to rely on looking at the screen, to see who's talking. Not having the names blocked would help a ton.

Not sure if this has been brought up just a thought.

Metapod & Kakuna

Harden has to be among the most pointless moves ever.

I mean, its gonna faint anyway. Might as well skip to Beedril & Butterfree

Yellow.

I was 9 then. It was at the end of baseball practice and the bat-boy left his GameBoy Color on the bleachers. I picked it up and found that he was in the Pokemon League. I took it home, later that night, and kept getting dominated by Bruno, so I gave it back to him the next day.

I hope not the moves or items though. That would be too revealing and cheap.

I agree. Moves and Potions would be a bit much but who wouldnt want to show off their level 200 Gyrados or level 50 Bellsprout on their profile?

I think that if Im getting ready for a Pokemon League Match (or any kind of PvP), I'd want an idea of the type of Pokemon mi opponent has a tendency to use.

Having this information "semi-public" would spark creativity in creating new pokemon combinations instead of the usual.

As with all MMO's and Video Games, after a winning formula has been created it is bound to be copied and eventually over-used by everyone.

Game Features / Poke' stats?
« on: January 04, 2010, 08:26:12 PM »
Ive only been visiting this site since yesterday, so Im unfamiliar with topics from the other website I read about.

But I was wondering if there would be a Leaderboard (for the beta/finished versions)

Also, I think that it would be cool if one could view  another  players' starting six pokemon via player's profile.

Are there any plans for that?
