I'd say I favor moves that are similar in nature to Flamethrower (obviously including Flamethrower itself), such as Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, and Surf.  I favor them for the manner in which they combine power and accuracy with possible status afflictions (or, in Surf's case, the ability to damage all adjacent hostile targets) with decent Power Point totals; Fire Blast, Blizzard, Thunder, and Hydro Pump may be more powerful, but their reliability is questionable due to their reduced accuracy (especially with Thunder) and their low Power Points.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather teach a move that can hit consistently (barring Double Team), inflict significant damage, and has enough Power Points to not fear risk of depletion at the hands of either overuse or the move Spite, rather than one which can hit for a ton of damage on an inconsistent basis that only has a handful of Power Points.  (How I loathe the move Spite…)

Funny you should mention symphonic metal, rajlev; I compose symphonic progressive metal.  Few other kinds of music can combine majesty with power while still retaining that heavy bass sound that metal is known for.  The guitar tuning I've been using lately is D standard, but I've also written a few songs using the E standard tuning.

It has been a while since I last saw someone reply.  How awkward this silence is…

I have already decided on the team I'll have.  It is to consist of an Absol, a Crobat, a Garchomp, an Aggron, a Walrein, and a Chandelure.  Despite the fact that Walrein shall be my Water-type, my Aggron will be the Pokémon that knows Surf.  (Yes, it is possible without hacking the game; look to the Gen. III games.)

Still, you bring up a valid point, Ursaring, regarding the Pokémon that are placed in our teams.

That…is nothing less than epic.

That was actually a misunderstanding on my end.  I apologize for the confusion I've caused, helper08; you are correct in assuming that you are a Pokémon.

I would have picked Lucario…but I concede that Mew is a good choice, too.  Now comes the question: will we be able to acquire Mew within Pokémon Universe once it's out?  Just a thought.

All right, here is the list of Pokémon that can learn the move Aura Sphere, and the level at which they can learn it under Gen. V's movesets:
  • #150 Mewtwo……………Lv 93
  • #151 Mew……………………Lv100
  • #448 Lucario…………Lv 51
  • #468 Togekiss………Lv  1
  • #483 Dialga……………Lv 37
  • #484 Palkia……………Lv 37
  • #485 Giratina………Lv 37
  • #619 Mienfoo…………Lv 61
  • #620 Mienshao………Lv 70

Not a very long list, is it?  The move itself is a Fighting-type move.  I can easily build a balanced team around Lucario, though, so it's no big deal for me.

(Edit) I decided to dig a little further into Aura in Pokémon, and my search turned up the moves Dragon Pulse, Dark Pulse, Detect, and Force Palm.  The Web page I found it on, if you would like confirmation, is http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Aura#In_the_games.

Or at least a Pokémon that knows Aura Sphere.  My main resource for Pokémon research appears to be down right now (either that, or most of my bandwidth is being consumed by my download), so I'll look it up later and post a list here, in case you guys are interested.

I don't know, "Aura" makes me think "Lucario".  Perhaps I will include one in my team when Pokémon Universe finally comes out, because of that…

I am fairly confident in my battle skills.  I have been told by many that I would make a good leader.  I would like to be a leader.

I hadn't realized you'd wanted it to be like Mystery Dungeon; I'd assumed the skeleton was intended for human characters.  In that case, this particular Absol has a scar that straddles its left eye.  The personality is about the same.

P.S.M.T.

Pokémon Universe Username: lucifer
Character name: Marisa Draconi

Starting Pokémon: Absol
Moves: Feint, Scratch, Leer (Assuming Gen. V moveset at Level 5)

Appearance: Tall (5'10"), slim, pale-skinned, black hair, brown eyes.  Black top, black skirt (mid-thigh), black cloak, black half-gloves, black stiletto heels, utility belt (with Poké Balls, of course), wristwatch.  Often appears annoyed; almost never smiles.
Age: ~21

Personality: Marisa is quiet and analytical.  She tends to keep to herself and is unlikely to ally herself with someone else (barring her Pokémon, of course) without an ulterior motive.  Her softer side is carefully hidden away beneath a thick layer of metaphorical ice; only those whom Marisa holds dear ever see her affectionate, inner self.  Her Absol, nicknamed Yin, is among these rare few.

Notes: As a Dungeon Master, I place a lot of emphasis on character development, as I'm sure you've noticed.  If there's anything here that conflicts with the storyline that you have in mind, let me know and I will revise it so that it fits.
