I would Wait Forever For This Game. It Seems Promising. Keep Up the Good Work P.U Team.

I think the game looks cool, and the generall design of the world speaks to me.
But wait forever? No thanks.
Since we are in beta 1st of april, I would think that the final release wouldn´t be that far away.
Note: Not That Far Away=<10years
But yeah, the thing that "worries" me is that nintendo will grow a brain and release their own pokemon mmo and thus making this one obsolet before it´s even is finished.
Im just saying, you never know, they might be working on it now.

Even if they do make a Pokemon MMORPG, it will still be a lot different than PU. The general idea will be the same, but PU will have many features that they won't have. Mostly because it's just too weird for them. E.g. player levels (and everything around it), our own skill system instead of EV's, housing etc. Maybe they will have something like it, but it will always be different. Like all the fantasy MMORPG's, the idea is the same but there is still a big difference between most of them.

The only games I've ever waited for was Madden'06-'10. Those were great because I had a whole year to focus on the game until the next one came out.
Waiting for an online game (that isnt from EA) is kind of different. It should be interesting.
I kind of wish the PU Team was a bit more transparent but I dont blame them.
Im hoping mi expectations arnt too high but Im willing to wait for a while.
Maybe a week or so.

It's too bad not many people join our chatbox. Almost all the PU Team members are in there most of the time. We talk about what we're currently doing/making, discuss things about the game etc. Now and then we even post screenshots that never make it to the site. I think the people in the chat are much more up-to-date regarding the development.
I think it's because most people see the chat as the place where you should only come when you want to chat. However, it's perfectly fine to just hang in there and lurk.

I'm not sure how much longer I can wait... I need a new game to play and Xbox 360 has gotten stale. I've actually been playing Pokemon Gold version for my GBC ha! Maybe I should get into some PC games - any suggestions?? And not WoW... been ther done that

I was a die hard fan of Star Wars and in particular Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) and as many of you know, when KOTOR II was released it was buggy as hell and unfinished storywise. There was a group of people not unlike the PU team who began a "restoration" project to finish the game as it was supposed to be. Unfortunately, after 6 years of them working, and progress getting slower and slower, I lost interest in the game completely, to the point even if they released it now I wouldn't even download it.
tl;dr -
Forever is a long time, and people's interests change. 6 years from now I will be almost 30, you 14 year olds will be 20 (scary huh) and most people will have moved on to the Next Big Thing.
We won't let that happen. don't worry.

lol? I'm much older than 12 and I get bored of my 360 games. Heck games in general get boring in time.
Anyway, I think people in general will wait as long as there alive for anything they want. Like I'm still waiting for high tech virtual online games to come out. Which probably be available after I die. So whats 2 months?

Bored of the 360 =/= 12 years of age. Just throwing that out there.
I've heard about this game quite some time ago, but waiting isn't really a problem since I have other games to occupy myself until release. To be specific, I guess I'll wait as long as it'll take or until I've moved on from gaming (lol).

Honestly I'm not much of a gamer anymore. I loved the PS2 when it came out and played it 24/7. I have a 360, but I let my brother keep it to himself. I have a bunch of buddies that play online, and I don't care too much for it.
Now my interests are music and mechanics, all I do is play guitar with my band or work on cars.
But I'll always be a pokemon fan because that's what I grew up with, I wish the game would come out faster, but I'm also glad I'm one of the first people to learn about the game that the PU Team is working on. Plus I think it will give us all an advantage once the leader boards are up, and I love being on top of the leader boards haha. (Socom US Navy Seals 2 to be exact (; )
So I'll definitely wait for this game for a little longer.

I don't think that there will be any 'Next Big Thing' for me apart from Pokemon. I've been 'fan' of it since it was out, and now, after so many other things getting out (Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Duel Masters, now Bakugan...) I'm still more into Pokemon. I guess that won't ever change :D

I joined Pokemon Universe on January 16, 2009. I've been waiting for over a year now, and honestly, I will wait however long it takes for this game. Like many of the people here, I am a huge fan of Pokemon (as I've stated many times before), and the idea of a Pokemon MMORPG is something I've dreamed about ever since I started playing online games. Waiting isn't really an issue for me - I've always been rather patient - it's one of my most flattering qualities :P. And, you know, a year may seem like a long time to wait, but there are actually a few people here who have been waiting for this game since day 1. ;)

I love Pokemon since I was 6 (my room tells the whole story - poke toys everywhere). I'm about 13 now, but I still adore Pokemon, just in diffrent way. I draw Pokemon, and trainers most of the time. I'm paticulary interested in this game, since it has chareter change option, wich I'm looking foward to (In some games you can't even chose a girl from a boy :-\ ). And graphics in screenshots look grat to! The more I read, the more excited I get!! Well, I hope the game comes up in summer (summer hollydays = lots of time) 8)!

I was speaking 'non-Pokemon-wise' :). But sure, Pokemon in itself will no doubt reach greater heights, and I'll be looking for the event when animated pokemon battles or 3D battles are out.
I know there's some Pokemon games on Wii that are 3D, but I don't have a Wii :(

I'll wait for as long as it takes. Waiting for this game isn't an activity that can't be combined with other activities; if I went away for a year the game making progress wouldn't cease because I did.
Anyway, I don't think Nintendo is going to make an MMORPG. That would require of them to wait longer between publishing series, since it would be more important to the players to know every Pokémon as well as possible, and a too high pressure of new Pokémon would make many lose interest. Such reads my hypothesis.
(Related to the pressure; whoever thought of making those alien-like evolutions of Magmar, Tangela and Electabuzz need to be slaughtered brutally in public. Rationally speaking.)

I honestly think it's going to take a long time for GAMEFREAK and the Pokemon Company to make a Pokemon MMORPG, if they even decide to make one. A Fifth Generation is in the works which means that's another 3 games within 2-3 years. Of course they're going to try to milk money out of the fans as much as possible, but I don't think they realize that a lot of fans want one game with all the regions and be able to catch all the Pokemon without any Nintendo Events. Almost everyone I talk to wants that, instead of getting an MMORPG, we're getting more Pokemon. Even if they did release an MMORPG, it's obviously going to be a subscription thing like Final Fantasy or World of Warcraft. This MMORPG is going to be free. I don't care if their MMO is official crap, I'd rather play something that's free, than something I have to pay for every month. So any way you look at it, I don't think this MMORPG is in any danger of being obsolete before it's completed, or even after it's completed for that matter.

Their argument is that they want Pokemon player to gather to play against each other. Something with socialization.

Well, they are doing a beta in the beginning of April which should mean their putting out everything they have done. If the beta goes well then the wait for PU to be up and running shouldn't be too far away.

In its early stages of open beta, I dont think anyone should get their hopes up too high so it makes more sense to wait until its first couple patches before really playing; which could take another year or two.

Still, it's a pre-beta so it's not really about the content of the game but more about the technical stuff like how the client performance is (compatibility with different OS) and if the server can handle this much activity.

there are also other aspects, like older computers and graphical glitches.(which by now you guys have gotten most of them fixed :-D )

If there is a Beta-test please notify me so that I may try this well thought out game =) besides I've played hundreds of mmorpgs and could help determine pros and cons.

I'll probably be waiting for it until I find some game that can challange this one. Which I however doubt, the only one I think could rival this game is Nintendo and they don't seem to be in a rush.
On another note. By now I should be too old to be excited by a mmo pokemon game but let's face it... I've passed the 'too old' limit a couple of years ago and I'm still here. So let's help them get this piece of epicness ready in any way we can! If not for our sake, then at least for the next generation. (oh god, let's hope they'll be able to put it together before that happens)

Read that the pre-beta release is in a couple of days. BUT if it's postponed or pushed to much later this year. I'd still wait. Would love to be part of PU to give my bit to make the game better when it's up public for all to enjoy. With all the opinions and ideas testers could give, i bet the game will be a blast. All you is is time for the PU Team to make the game enjoyable and as exciting to match up to other MMORPG games available in the market. Kudos PU on the upcoming release!

There are a few things that differs PU from other Pokemon MMO's. That includes tiles, music, and gameplay. Sure, we use Nintendo's concept, but we're not making money on it like PWO hosters do, and we promote their games. But sure, everything may happen.

I'm not concerned about the wait so much, the Devs can take as long as they want for all I care and I'll support them to the very end. If the Devs decide they need more time to make the game better before they release it then I'd be 100% behind them, you can't rush something awesome or it'll just turn into crap =p

Im aware that everyone's in a different situation and money isnt attained as easily for some as other, but is $5 (ONE Time) really all that much?
I bet if, out of 10k members, 10% of them reached in their pockets for a $5 bill, the wait would probably be significantly shorter and the game would have that one extra feature it probably wouldnt have had if it werent for that donation.
I know that asking for money isnt what the PU team wants to do but if you're willing to wait, donating the minimum (5 dollars, euro, yen, yuang, nor-dollars) should be nothing.
A 5 month wait can be tantamount to 1 dollar a month.
I think it was minsi or someone that donated 2 or 3 dollars... so really... anything will help in the end.
I think that it's selfish and stupid to wait and not even consider the monetary aspects of the game or anything else money related. Time is money and the PU team is spending a lot of time on this project for no money at all.
You're waiting on a free game for Christ's sake. If no one decides to put their cents in, expect an extremely long wait.

i will wait as long as it takes. it takes minimal effort, just check the site now and again to see if its oporational. and no im not paying $5. my parents wont pay for much stuff online, and i have no money of my own so that is not posible either. in short... yes its too much. the point when it is not free, even a donation, is when i stop waiting and give up.

honestly, if i knew how to get a paypal, or anything like that, i would put in 10-$20. And i am willing to wait as long as this game is promising. And it hasnt slacked on that yet.

Yea, and I wouldnt look too much into the first couple stages of open beta. I'd imagine it'd be just like pre-beta but with less server crashes and tons more people.
it would be interesting to know what would qualify as a "full game" since most MMOs never end.

I could wait a little while I guess. I just googled for pokemon MMOs and found this. There's another one out there, but there's something about brand new MMOs that intices me. I'm not sure why.

The first open beta is expected to be out before 2011. If not, then definitely sometime in 2011.
I, personally, will wait until the end of my internets for the release of this game. Why? Because I'm not even here for the game that much anymore. Yes, I'm looking foward to it, and yes, It's something that I get excited for whenever I take part in conversations that will alter the coarse of the game, and YES, I'm going to be playing it nearly nonstop when it's released.
But that's not the point.
I love smart people. I love dedicated people. I love leaders who put their communities before themselves. I love communities that love their leaders. I especially love being able to disagree with another intelligent person on an important topic (Ghostman...). I love people who are kind, fun, and creative. I love it when a large group of people will wait with patient and immovable faith in those who are working to create a gift to the world.
Gentlemen, I love this forum.
Should I leave this forum, I'll never find someone as invariably positive as Jerry. I'll never argue with someone as confident as Ghostman. I'll never be able to anticipate the release of my favorite book, and then have a conversation about it with the author.
It is for the PU community that I will stay here until the internet is shut down.

I think its better to wait a long time until its released because most of the mmos of pokemon are really bullpoop and i think the reason for that is that they often not listen to the community and so on. and just with much tests and long processing a game can work really good :)

Development depends on alot of things, mostly quality. Something like this could take 2-3 more years.

I honestly think it's going to take a long time for GAMEFREAK and the Pokemon Company to make a Pokemon MMORPG, if they even decide to make one. A Fifth Generation is in the works which means that's another 3 games within 2-3 years. Of course they're going to try to milk money out of the fans as much as possible, but I don't think they realize that a lot of fans want one game with all the regions and be able to catch all the Pokemon without any Nintendo Events. Almost everyone I talk to wants that, instead of getting an MMORPG, we're getting more Pokemon. Even if they did release an MMORPG, it's obviously going to be a subscription thing like Final Fantasy or World of Warcraft. This MMORPG is going to be free. I don't care if their MMO is official crap, I'd rather play something that's free, than something I have to pay for every month. So any way you look at it, I don't think this MMORPG is in any danger of being obsolete before it's completed, or even after it's completed for that matter.
Thats why i'm still an avid pokemon gold player after 9 Years ;D. No... thats not right... I must be a geek haha. Wow nine years. I can't believe I can say that haha.

i am currently playing pokemon Fail online because i need to get my poke brain on before this one comes :D that thing is just a warm up :D and if Gamefreak was making their own mmo they would make it 3d and no one would play OR it must look like pokemon colliseum... but i think they are making their own mmo because they are releasing alot of games atm on the wii/ds so it will be a matter of time before u see Pokemon Online ©GameFreak ®Nintendo .. i will actually play the official one if it is 2d but if its 3d i think i will stay on this one.... and nintendo DOES shut down mmo's so i think the forum needs to be closed when there are like 500 registered users.

I wouldn't care if the MMO is 2d or 3d. That wouldn't bother me. Personally I think 3d is better in general than 2d. Sometimes I wonder why games even do 2d anymore.

Since we are in beta 1st of april, I would think that the final release wouldn´t be that far away.
