Title: Whats the best?
Post by: DarK_SouL on June 21, 2010, 07:41:24 PM
You knoq there are liek 5 Pokemon in the competition for best Pokemon (Not counting starters except Mudkip because everyone loves him for some reason). The winner with most children is Pikachu (Because they think something like if they catch a super load or Pikachu it will trasval on for shoulder and for some reason never fall off.) and for pervs its Jynx for obvious reasons. But I was wondering which one do you think is the best. Post out of the few I put and out of all. I will add as you guys say to the Poll.

Mukdip, with Protect + Mudslap your pokemon will go nuts :D

Not Pikachu... too cliche
Lucario... a good pokemon, I like it too.
Jynx, setting aside the pervert thoughts, is a decent pokemon, with quite good moves, I always got it in my Silver (now I get Lapras instead) to beat the dragon pokemons
Zorork? Lol, it's Zoroark. But until I get to know it better, I prefer to pass.
Eevee. Good pokemon too... too many evolutions to choose from, I need 7 Eevees, one alone is not enough.
MissingNo. No, it made my (correction: my sister's) Blue version crash :( Now, I can't get any rare candies from there. (I didn't know about EVs then, was just thinking about completing the pokedex.)

Jerry, EVs weren't implemented until Ruby/Sapphire.
My choice: Eevee
Its evolutions are some of the best pokemon in the games

That must have been Urmel :D

I don't know... I heard that the EVs were there all along, but since competitive play was introduced in Gen III, it's there that the concepts of EV training really became important.

Actually, contrary to what most people think, EV's and IV's have been around since the original Pokemon. They were just listed as a different mechanic. There was no cap to EV's back then, though, so you could max out every stat. IV's were also in effect as well. In fact, your IV's used to determine if you were shiny or not.

Thanks for that, Raikt. I read somewhere, I think Serebii, that they were a new thing in Ruby/Sapphire.

Ah! This confirms what I said! :P

Roloc, if you have another pokemon, in mind, you can say what it is. But I'm sure what you'll say... Yanmega! :D

few questions...
what are EVs, IVs?
What is a Zoroark?

few questions...
what are EVs, IVs?
What is a Zoroark?

EVs, or effort values, are things obtained by defeating pokemon or using an item such as a protien. For every four effort value points a pokemon gets, the stat the effort points were for go up 1. in total, a pokemon can get 255 effort points max for a stat, and can recieve a total of 510 effort points total. some things can affect the amount of effort points obtained, such as the power items, the macho brace, and Pokerus, double the amount of effort values obtained. IVs are used to determine how good a pokemon's stats are. IVs also determine whether or not a pokemon is shiny or not. the ideal IVs are 31, which is the max amount a pokemon can have, for every stat. a way you can tell which IV is best is to look at the screen where it shows where the pokemon is obtained. it will say something such as "Often Dozes Off", which could mean a pokemon's possible IV value for the HP stat is either 1, 6, 11, 16, 21, 26, or 31. It will always say the pokemon's highest IV value. Zoroark is a pokemon revealed mid-february 2010. it was the first generation 5 pokemon to be revealed. it is pure dark type and is only available by transferring one of the shiny legendary beasts from the pokemon movie 13, and is catchable at level 25. its ability, illusion, makes it appear as the pokemon in the player's second party space. it has a pre-evolution, zorua, who is only available by talking to a guy in an unknown location in either pokemon black or pokemon white with a special event celebi.

I know it's COMPLETE cliche, but I'm one of those "little kids" you mentioned who fell in love with him in 1999. Battle wise, yeah, he sucks pretty bad, but at least you can can him the Light Ball now to make him better, if just a little bit. I'll probably never use him in a competitive battle, but there's always one in my team other than that.

So yeah, Pikachu.

I said Eevee because I absolutely loved having an Espeon and Umbreon as my starters in Colosseum and i have strived to get them in pretty much every game since.
