it's not the same.
you need to have that one person that you're going to have to strive to beat.
it's going to be a give in that you will fight everyone.
but there can be only one rival.
just like in the games.

It would be nice to have a rival. That way I'd have a goal to work towards that keeps progressing, instead of beating the games and being done.

We-ell, seeing as everybody else is out recruiting rivals, I guess I'd better find one as well. Although, I guess Zocan's already my rival, but more than one never hurt right? Also this is pretty important, as there are 2 servers you'll need to find a rival who uses the same server as you (there's currently one in the States and one in the Netherlands)
I'm in the UK, so any European challneges would be welcome. :)

I don't think you can just up and ask a large group of people if any of them want to be your rival. Take ash and gary, for example. Notice anything about them? The fact that they have polar opposite 'tudes, making them naturally constantly want to be better than the other? The problemo I see here is this:
Right now you're pretty much selecting rivals at random. For all you know, you could wind up just being friends with this person, the only difference being that you sometimes remember how you met and call them your rival. A rivalry is caused generally by two people who have a hate-love relationship that's intense to the point where they want to beat up a polar bear just for the sake of being better than the other.
Just sayin'... bro.

I think haveing a real person as a rival would be rally fun, as said before it will deffinetlly push you to progress even harder. There might will be NPC rivals, but you know, those are super-easy to beat XD I never lost to any one of them.
I might need a rival as well... but I don't have such confident 'I'll beat you all!' attutude... *sigh*

Right, luck is also needed in a battle, I'm talking especially about the critical hits and attack missed. ::)
So... if someone beat me, or I beat someone, I just try to see what went wrong and make sure next time, I'll not repeat the same mistake. Winning or losing doesn't matter for me.

You're right Jerry, but still, I'm qite a rookie, I don't think I'm a real match to trainers, who have all sorts of strategy tricks figured out... :-[

I don't have... stratagies like movesets or anything figured out, but I know I can still be a good trainer without them..! ^_^

If you want good strategies, you can always go to Serebii, pick your fave Pokemon, then see what their Pokemon of the week/day says. It will give you a good moveset and lots of other cool things like strategy and what ability and item.

i don't really do all the moveset and stuf i usually just work with pokemon that have a high defense like geodude

But what is it good against...? Normal? Flying? Bug?

I'm pretty sure rock is invulnerable to electric attacks as well.

Not rock. Nosepass, Aerodactyl, Cranidos, etc all get damage from electric type attacks.
It's because of the ground type that they don't receive damage from electric type moves. ::)

My bad, the majority of rock pokemon have ground as a second type..
