XIII is 13 which hasn't come out yet. VII is 7.

Since some people here are missing the point or haven't even played a game in the FF series, to all those people: YOU MUST PLAY FINAL FANTASY OR YOU WILL ROT IN HELL. And the FF games are RPGs.

As for me, I very sadly haven't played FFVII in its entirity :c So I'd have to say my personal favorite is FFVI (6) without a doubt. Everything about it is just perfect. Especially the soundtrack. I very honestly see the FFVI soundtrack as the greatest musical accomplishment ever. Seriously.

I also enjoyed FFX alot, which was the first one I've played (lol I suck). As for every other FF I love them too.

My favorite Final Fantasy game is Final Fantasy X (and its sequel, X-2). But once Final Fantasy XIII comes out, I have a feeling it will knock X out of my #1 spot.  :)

@ Amphy
Final Fantasy is the king of RPG's
I highly recommend buying 12 to test out (it's for the PS2) and you'll get it real cheap but for a hell of a lot of gaming and fun - I mean, i've completed 3 times and accumulatively played for over 250hrs!

Man, no offense to anyone here, but you guys are really missing out pretty much everything. You should play at least a couple Final Fantasy games from 5 to 9. That's where the real essence is.
Title: Re: Final Fantasy
Post by: Sorohn on January 21, 2010, 11:24:57 PM
I've played bits of the first FF to FFVI. Reason being that my data is always erased before I face the final boss, be it Garland, the Emperor, Cloud of Darkness, Golbez, Exdeath, or Kefka. (Damn little siblings)
But I have played Final Fantasy Dissidia. A strange change to the series, but it at least gives you new ways to face your foes. Personally, Cloud, Tidus, and Zidane are my best hero characters. Villain wise, it is Sephiroth, Garland, and Kefka.

I only played FFIV on gameboy advance and I must say I like it at that time... and I didn't like the one on Nintendo DS, the strategy game. Got me bored after a while... Didn't play anymore, don't have any PS (I do have one, but don't laugh, it's the old one, the PS1) and not much games at home... :(

Final Fantasy 7 is overrated. I heard FF13 in Japan failed.. I'm anticipating FF13 Versus. xD Noctis Lucis Caelum looks soo cool  8) Way cooler than Cloud and Zack xD

Yeah, I have to agree that FF VI was the best, hands down. I just found the cast to be likable and the soundtrack as you have mentioned was phenomenal.

On a side note, I don't believe FF VII is overrated, I still believe it's a great game, minus all the hate that follows it due to some random troll and the bandwagon.

Other than that, I also found FF X to be quite good, especially the English VO and OST, and let's add FF Versus XIII for future references.

Graphics look sick, I just hope it retains the old-school feel that we all know and love.

Yeah I love the final fantasy tactics game also. Beat the GBA and DS versions of them. I liked also final fantasy X-2 cause the battle system was still turn based but kind of had a real-time feel to it. Final Fantasy 3 for the DS was fun because it had that old school RPG gameplay. (I love that.) And Dissidia was so much fun because it was kind of like a Smash Bros, but for the Final Fantasy series. As for FF13, that game does look amazing. From what I seen I am really hoping that it turns out good.

My favorite Final Fantasies games are in this order:
1. Final Fantasy VIII - The story, the characters, the world, the guardian forces, the card game, the beautiful visuals, and the music! This game had everything I ever wanted in a Final Fantasy.
2. Final Fantasy X - I almost have to reiterate the above reasons. The story was fantastic, but a little disappointing. The characters were fun, and the game play itself was great. Also, Blitzball will probably go down as my favorite mini game in a Final Fantasy. I mean come one underwater soccer/rugby? You can't beat that.
3. Tactics - The battling and the quests had me hooked. I couldn't stop playing that game when I first got it.

Right now I am playing Final Fantasy III (VI in Japan) for super nintendo. If everything in the game continues the way it is, I do believe Tactics will be taken off the list, and I'll have a new number 3 (little pun intended).

Final Fantasy X is the best because, A) It's the only one I've played all the way through B) Jailbait Rikku C) Auron's a badass D) Lulu's boobs E) All of the above.

I could do with never seeing or hearing the laughing scene again though.

Well,
3 days ago, Final Fantasy XIII was released! It's only for PS3 and Xbox360. Lucky for me I own one of them and tommorow I'm going to buy it. Graphics and gameplay are convincing, and I think it worth the price.

Final Fantasy X is by the THE BEST final fantasy game out there. You got like the best story in it, best side quests like blitzball, capturing creatures, getting the extra summons and things. The ending is just so good and really sad. Love it so much. FF7 is my second favorite and it has such a wonderful story also but since there are no voices you cant really see exactly how the emotions were for the scenes. If there were voices then maybe it would be the top FF but right now X is and like i said before im currently playing XIII and its pretty dam good so far lol

Was VIII on the PS2? I always thought X was the first FF game for PS2.

OT: My favorite FF game would have to be FFX. The gameplay and combat were awesome and the story was epic, especially with the help of the magnificent cutscenes that put some 360 games to shame.

However, the worst would have to be FFXII for me. I never got around to finishing that one...

Honestly, one of my favorites was FFT2: Grimoire of the Rift. I don't think anyone brought up Final Fantasy Tactics yet. Also, I liked FFVII Crisis Core for the PSP. Considering it is on the PSP, the graphics during cut scenes looked real. After that, it must be FFXII.

My favorite was 7. It would be 8, but the game should've ended with a showdown between the gardens, and they should've let it build a little bit more. The battle system was my favorite and they haven't really been able to recreate it.

My faves are FFX, FF9, and FF7. They all have wonderful stories but 10 i just love. It has the best story and one of the best endings ever. 7 and 9 have awesome stories too and great gameplay. FF8 was alright but the game play was a bit off but in the game you had to work hard for things which isnt too bad.

Easily my favorites; FFIX, FFIV, and FFII.

Final Fantasy IX is probably my favorite, though. It had a great storyline, beautiful graphics at the time, unique features, and so much content. Plus, you could play it with your friends.

I loved 7 the most, in every way!
The one I hated the most was 13... omg.
I gave up on this game after 4 hours of gameplay... it's only running straight ahead, kill some mobs by pushing A as fast as possible (Yes I have it on xbox360), more running, more killing, more running, watch a cutscene, more running!! it never ends! Where is the exploration? The adventure?
The only things I do with my controller are pushing my joystick forward and press A all the time. And maybe start to get some rest lol.

I love my FF's, I have played everyone thats out at least once.

Most loved: The American FF6. Cyan & Shadow were awsome.

Best Story: The American FF4. Cecil starting as a death knight then turning into a paladin was awsome for me.

Most enjoyed: FF8. Junctioning system and not having mana was an amazing setup. Actually playing though it again as we speak. just got in the first dream sequence.

Favorite character is probly Squall for being so beast with lionheart.

Only FF i was ever disappointed in was 9. It let me down in so many ways. But i still own it and have beat it.

I have a toss up between the original on the old nintendo and 8.
I loved the storyline/gameplay of 8, plus the introduction of the card games was pretty sweet to.
and not going to lie, 9 was one of my favorites, Zidane+Vivi=win
Plus I liked the card game in it a bit better then 8's.
7 was good but I will agree a bit overrated, though it was the most influential rpg out there.
10 was ok but I hated the fact that there wasn't a world map to explore anymore.
12 is ok but not as good as the old ones
and 2-6 I don't remember anything remarkable about, though it has been a few years since I played them.

I will admit, FF7 is definatly the best Square Enix have managed to release in this series. But in a close second is FF10. The gameplay is outstanding, graphics where pretty decent for its time, storyline was amazing. And then we have blitzball. The best mini game ever to be released in an FF game. But then they killed it with FF10-2 with Blitzball manager... the only reason i ever wanted to kill a member of square enix.

Ahhh, Final Fantasy. I'm an absolute fanatic when it comes to this series. VII was my first, like so many others, but I don't consider it the best, even though it deserves its place among the timeless video game wall. X is probably my favorite, since it's the first game I ever became emotionally attached too. I got so sucked in by the characters and world, that I was near tears at the end when Tidus jumps off the airship and leaves Yuna behind for good. "I'm sorry I couldn't show you Zanarkand....." One of the saddest lines ever for me.

And the XIII wrecks the show. I bought a PS3 for just that game, and I wasn't disappointed. Everything I've come to expect from a FF game was there, ranging from an excellent story line to an awesome new battle system that' really grown on me. Never thought that the Paradigm System could add so much strategic depth to something.

I've played the old ones too, so don't go thinking I've just ignored the series' roots. VI is awesome too; in more ways than one I think it paved the way and set the standard for all of the 3D titles as far as story and characters were concered.

If you beat X at 100% you get a different ending.
I haven't seen it yet as I have only gotten to about 94% before I lost interest.
But it is supposed to be really good, I have been thinking about loading it back up just to see it.
Takes at least 2 runs through the game to get 100% due to the different Albhed(sp?) letters that you can't get till late in the game.

You sure that's not X-2 you're talking about? Because I don't remember X ever keeping track of a percentage, while X-2 did. Plus, there's nothing really secret about the ending, except for the little bit at the end credits that turns out the be the beginning of the "Good Ending" in X-2.
