I would just like to know the forums views on what the best Pokémon series is...
...I personally prefer Red / Blue, because I thought having less pokémon was better, and I love the nostalgic sound of 8-bit video game music.
This thread is not about the Pokémon spin-offs, like pinball, console games, trading card games or WiiWare titles.

personally i like g/s series as the had enough pokemon to keep me satisfied and yet not to many plus they had alot of good features in it

I voted (Red/)Blue because that's the only game I completed.

I'm with Amphy on this one. I also vote for G/S. I loved that game - it just had everything I was looking for in a Pokemon game.

Platinum. I really liked the new things included and the enhanced graphics.
EDIT: About HGSS, it's true it's better, but something is just not right in it. I don't know exactly what...

buthow do you people play hg/ss its not out yet!!!!
i know some get the japanese version from the internet but couldnt you not read the story and everything it comes out in english march 14!!!

I play SoulSilver, I got it from www.playasia.com, but my favorite games are still the original gold and silver games.

I concur with the music comment, however, Crystal was my favorite because the colors were the best and it had the best plot, in my opinion.
Then again I lost touch of Pokemon as soon as it jumped to the DS.

You shouldn't have separated on the poll (ex. Crystal from Gold/Silver).
So, I'd say G/S/C. Best games in the series. Pretty much everything was the most awesome ever. Mainly the feel and the soundtrack.
But then again maybe HG/SS will turn out to be the best games in the series. For me that will depend on how much nostalgic I feel. Let's just see how it goes :3

Well, a friend downloaded the japanese version and patched it. It was mostly in japanese, but the main conversations (which were according to the story) and the moves were in english. Since I played Silver and Gold, I knew where to go, even if I didn't understand a thing XD.

My favorite generation is a toss-up between Gen I and Gen II because they didnt have too many pokemon and they had enough in the game to keep me occupied. G/S would be the best if there was more to do in the Kanto region as well.

It has to be Platinum, having more Pokemon to EV train and such. It was such a thrill to see which Pokemon would ultimately become a good addition to a competitive team.

Gold/Silver was the best one..the 1st and 2nd gen pokemon were enough and now its too much of them you dont know which you gonna chose.

i always get the "other" games (ex:Emerald,Platinum,Crystal,ect.) mostly because my friends get the first two and i wanna get the one that none of them have.

HeartGold and SoulSilver win it for me. Gold and Silver to me were the best games, except now that they've been remade and made even more legit... the new ones win it for me.

I voted for red/blue. blue was the first pokemon game id ever played and it remains the best :).

......I'm still mad they didn't redo it in third gen......I think that would've been so awesome.
Then again, I haven't beaten the Fourth Gen games that much.....

I went with platinum since it's nice, and i haven't played heartgold and soulsilver yet. But since it has the most votes i guess i gotta buy is ASAP :P

I have to agree with you there bud! 8-bit game music FTW. Not to mention that, in my opinion, the original 151 pokemon were the best. Some of the new ones are just a tad bit rediculas. (also excuse the poor spelling.)

I honestly can't vote, as my decision is torn. I loved RSE, though it receives a lot of hate as a generation, because I loved a lot of the Pokemon it introduced and quite a few of the features. (IE: Secret Bases.)
However, I love my new Heart Gold. It brings back all the memories of the originals but still maintains new content. There is even an 8-Bit music translator you can get at the end of the game that will make all the music how it was in the original games.

Yellow has always been favorite it was the first of many things and it always will have Pikachu as your starter.

4th Generation the people started getting too competitive and ruined Pokemon a little bit.
