Title: Super Smash Bros. the Fourth, Esq.
Post by: boyben10 on June 08, 2011, 09:03:02 AM
It was announced at E3. It has come, after 4 years of waiting. It will be on both the 3DS and the Wii U. This topic, Discuss the game, make predictions. Me? I hope for less Third-Party Characters, And, also, For Slowking to be added to the game. Mewtwo and Lucario Were made into fighters, Slowking starred in my favorite pokemon Movie of all time, Pokemon Movie 2000, so I believe he should be put into the game as well.

More Characters I think should be added:

-Toon Zelda/Tetra-
Toon Zelda Could be similar to Regular Zelda, Like Toon Link is to Regular Link. Tetra would be Fast, But not quite as fast as shiek. She would do more Damage than Shiek, but with Shorter range, though she might have explosives of some kind to use.

-Majora Link-
He would Be Identical to Link, Except faster and Weaker. He would be able to transform using Masks, and, for a final Smash, would equip the Fierce Diety Mask, Which would be a similar transformation as Wario to Wario man. He would be Very fast, Shoot lazers, and Be Taller than regular Link. He would be invincible, with his Helix sword, He would have Long range as well. He would have a mostly Unique Moveset from Regular Majora Link.

-Ridley-
He's a Big Scary Dinosaur-Type Monster. He was a boss in The Subspace emissary adventure mode, Though I think he could easily pass as a fighter.

-Kid Icarus Chars. Revealed at E3-
From What I saw, He has a big sword, and, there is also a pretty cool looking villain.

So, Add your thoughts, Opinions, Possible Character Lists, Things you hope to be changed, and Any other thing You want in the Most Recent Super Smash Bros. Installment.

Black, SSF2 was made by an idiot. The controls sucked and the half the characters were useless. No balance team to speak of.

I don't like any of these. Link already had a clone, for one. And I think there are already enough characters in SSB from Legend of Zelda. Ridley is simply too big and powerful to be a character.

I, personally, believe that Mewtwo and Roy should  be brought back. And Pichu. They were my favorite characters. Mewtwo's psychic abilities were fun to use, Roy, despite what the queer list says, was probably one of the best characters, and beating people with pichu might as well be slapping a giant trollface on the screen.

@Fry-everyone dosen't think that way.

on the chars, i think megaman would be good IF his megabuster didn't charge, or wasn't as powerful.

All I pretty much do with Pichu is Skull Bash and QA. but instead of thundershock as neutral special put a chargable Electro ball instead.

Oh SSF2? Fun.

SSB4? Better.

As for characters?

-Maxwell-
He could write certain things in his notebook for moves. Also his final smash, he summons, something huge, that attacks you. Maybe for the attacks.
Sonic Wings-He grows wings and can fly for a short period.
Big Sword-He attacks with sword.
Stuff like that.

-Shadow and Silver-
I mean all the other franchises have more then one SSB character, right? So these could be the inclusions. Silver could attack with psychic power. Shadow could use darkness and pure force. Silvers final smash could send out a psywave that hits the enemy, and smashes them against the camera. Shadow could use Chaoscontrol in some way.

-Pokemon Trainer-
Just like normal trainer, except instead, take the results for the nintendo, best Pokemon poll, and use those three. Or just a specific three.

-One Pokemon from each gen-
I mean that would be cool, and just make it simple, take out other pokemon and do this. And then, you just include fan favorites. But please, no Pikachu.

-Mii-
Just an idea. Attacks could be, stuff from Wii Play, Wiisports. Final Smash would be they grab a Wii remote/tablet thingy. Jump at the TV, disappear. And you can control the character, for a short amount of time.

I think more moves and things should use the camera. Like in Brawl, when the characters would hit the camera. Stuff like that.

Also maybe link could turn into multiple forms himself.

Just some ideas.

So what is everyone getting it for? 3DS or WiiU
I can't decide.

Wouldn't Chaos Blast and Psychokinesis all be better FS for Shadow and Silver respectively.

I'm getting it for WiiU. The handheld versions of games that are also on consoles usually aren't as good as the consoles. Of course, the 3DS could be an exception.

I'll get it for both, my bro and I will get a wii u so we can play on that, and when I go somewhere I can play it on my 3ds.

Snake is technically Nintendo's.

Sonic belongs to Sega, but guess who makes games for Nintendo?

Honestly, All of the characters that have been used to this point are related to Nintendo in some way.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. the Fourth, Esq.

Kojima produces games for Sony. How the heck does Snake even begin to relate to that?

I know there was a game with Snake in it for Nintendo a long time ago, but Kojima went to Sony. He needs to stay there then js.

Snake belongs to Kojima Productions. Nobody else has rights to use his image. Not even Konami or Sony. Just Kojima.

Really? That is a fanboy statement. Even I didn't mention Lucario as coming back. I don't think he should actually. It should be a fan-favorite of Unova instead. I mean they can't include all PKMN.

I really don't use it in actual games much(1-3%) I stated that because we don't have enough swordsmen.

No, its not Nintendo. Its bloody Capcom.

Honestly, Nintendo Exclusive characters should be the only things in the SSB games. No, we dont need fifty chansey pokemon characters, no, they're not going to add this or that pokemon, just because you think "itll be a good character to play."

maximum 50 characters, and I mean that in the sense of "We have so many characters that it was hard enough to lower it down to 50".
Maximum like, 3 per franchise, with mario as an exception, cause you know, the mascot of the Coorperation gets an exception.

Anything outside of that is a weak cash grab, as was Kratos in Mortal Kombat.

Guys, I don't think you get it...

Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft actually do very little game making on their own.
Metal Gear, Street Fighter, Pokemon, Halo, inFamous... do you know what they have in common?

They're all third-party games.
Metal Gear is owned by Kojima Productions, not Sony. Street Fighter is owned by Capcom, not Nintendo. Pokemon? GameFreak. Halo? Bungee. inFamous? Sucker Punch.

Look at the intro to the next game you play. If it says ANYTHING besides "Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft Presents", it's a third party game made by a company that simply doesn't have its own system.

Pokemon don't count as third party for SSB because they're co-owned by Nintendo.

For the next SSB game they will most likely add one to two new Sonic characters, one new Mario character, one new StarFox character, replace a Zelda character, replace a Pokemon, as well as new characters from other games.

For the Sonic character most likely the Knuckles or Tails will be added over Shadow or Silver. Plus the attacks for Knuckles and Tails would be more unique in comparison to Sonic's attacks. Tails jumping might be similar to Peaches', while Knuckles could be a medium weight power character.

For the Mario character, Bowser Jr. would throw in an interesting character to play. I have not played enough of the Mario/DK characters to know if another would be a better option, but I am certain they will put a new Mario/DK character in.

For the StarFox character I am guessing they will add in Krystal to the game. This would add another girl to the game plus a staff would be an interesting weapon. They might add Leon Powalski but this is less likely.

They will most likely get rid of Toon Link just because he is only from one game. He game play was fun and most people will miss it from SSB. They will probably make Link and Ganandorf faster and possibly lighter so that they can be more competitive in competitions. Another character will most likely be added to replace Toon Link, if they remove him.

They will probably replace Lucario, and they might bring Mewtwo back instead. Just as likely, for promotion of the game, they will add a pokemon from black or white.

These are just some characters I thick they will bring in.
Banjo Kazooie will be brought in because he originally on a Nintendo platform, and he will have an interesting attack set.
Bomberman and/or Megaman: I do not know if I should add them or not but somebody else made the suggestion and I do not see why not. They have been on Nintendo platforms in the past.
The Mii just because it is for the wii. They will all have the same attack set, but there size will determine there speed and power.

Ninja Gaiden

To differentiatbe between the two, its Ryu the Street Fighter and Ryu Hyabusa.

Also: NO!
Ninja Gaiden is Team Ninja, not chansey Nintendo exclusive.

I get the third party thing. I mean there are many third party developers with SSB characters.

But Meowth, just because they have DS games, doesn't mean they belong to that company. Can Roxas from Kingdom Hearts be in SSB? No, because even if there is a DS game, it is still owned y Square Enix, and mainly for Sony Systems.

Tier lists make me feel like a tool when I use Marth, whom we all know is going to be in there. And most likely high up in the tier list that I hate so much.
I say, scrap Ike, put in Roy. Roy was the coolest Lord in Fire Emblem, 'cause he had so many units that a vast majority of them didn't even have a personality, and probably don't have their own article on the Fire Emblem wiki. You can kill them off without feeling bad. And I know she isn't main enough to be a playable character, but can we get Mia as an assist trophy?
I liek Mia.

I'd also like to see Pikachu's Down B nerf'd a bit. Most of the time, it doesn't bother me since I can just counter it as Marth. But it gets a little more annoying when I'm in the middle of fighting two people at once and some asshat of a pikachu rolls in and spams the poop out of Down B. How about the more you use it in a span of 30 seconds, the weaker it gets?

And assuming Meta Knight is going to be included, his tornado attack needs to stop making him IMMUNE TO FREAKING EVERYTHING.

And then we can rename the series "Attack of Kingdom Hearts".

IMO, Kingdom Hearts is overrated. The message it sends is childish, the only likable characters are the final fantasy ones, and the idea of making a giant key into a weapon is just stupid.
More plausible characters, plzkthnx.

And black, that's Mia. She's a character from Fire Emblem, a nintendo exclusive TBS series. I think she ought'a be an assist trophy, assuming those will be making a second appearance.
Leo, Metal Gear has no contract with Nintendo. I know. I'm the Metal Gear freak here. Solid Snake was in SSBB only because Hideo Kojima requested it.

Kingdom Hearts II=top five greatest games of all time.

Still, they should never be in Brawl, I just don't think they belong anyway.

I also think Sony, and Microsoft could pull of a similar fighter, just make it so different, that they don't get sued. Basically impossible.

Very hyped over Palutena.

Have y'all seen the new move modify thing? It had a picture of mario doing a small fast fire ball, his normal fire ball ,and then a big slow one. If you watch the new character reveal they all have a lot of big flashy moves and appear very mobile but this is just do to them showing all 3 up+B and what not.

I think that they should add Pacman as a character.

That moment when this guy predicted pac-man for smash three years ago -^

I love that stage girahim is on!

I think the feature I mentioned is something a bit different than amiigo. It seems like you can customize your character in a few different ways this time around. This is why people like paulatina have 3 different upward recovery attacks ,but only one can be used at a time.

Oi, Shulk is awesome, and Xenoblade is a very well made game. I'm even more excited for this game than ever. Megaman, little Mac, greninja, robin, and lucina are awesome editions.  Haven't seen much news about it until shulk, which reminds me, they ever reveal mewtwo or are they still not going to add him?

I will still hold out hope for my melee main. You can't top a character with a heavy edgeguard metagame with teleport mechanics. This needs to come back! (Yes, I am one of those rampant edgeguarders. I am ashamed and will reform one day. Until then YOU SHALL NOT RECOVER!)

Nah, I'm not going to use what I know will be the cheapest character in the game. Once this hits the MLG circuit, he may get banned. I will main Mario, Pikachu, Shulk, and Greninja, and will only go for competitive play if it is revealed that they included Mewtwo, either in base game or as a DLC. That dudes teleport metagame was a monster in Melee, and I would very much enjoy seeing it back in this game.

Miss and I arent getting it untill the wii u version releases. The 3ds version is awesome and all, but the screen size really takes away some of the fun. You get SUPER LOST when there are 4 players. But, 1v1 isn't too bad untill you get the screen zooming out on ya. All in all, I think 3ds version is amazing, just the wii u version will be more competitive friendly.

I really think the wii u version will be SO much better. We'll be playing it on the 32 inch tv, though we will prolly be upgrading to a nice 64 inch tv once my new job kicks in.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. the Fourth, Esq.
Post by: GrizzlyEatsKids on September 21, 2014, 07:13:26 PM
I was planning on getting the WiiU version only, because I had kind of lost interest in my 3DS (especially including the Pokemon games, I know this is a Pokemon site and I'm still looking forward to the MMO, but there's too much time involved in the handheld versions for me at this point). After playing the demo on the 3DS for smash, I'm sold. I now want to play my 3DS more than ever, and I want smash for both consoles. Problem is, I'm out of money! I may trade in some old games though in order to get it, because I can't wait for Christmas to roll around for me to pick up my copy.

As of right now, I'm fond of Link, but that's likely because he's rather familiar. He was, after all, my main in Brawl. I really like Mega Man as well, but I need to play with him more. My friends all love the Villager.

Wait, too much time involved in a game you can beat in like 2-3 days. O.o
I can understand too much time involved in a pokemon mmo, but the console games are beatable within a VERY short amount of time. Unless your into the whole collecting / breeding / competitive play after game. Then it can get time consuming.

Miss said give her your pokemon games then. xD

The 3DS one does not interest me much either. I feel like some of the hit boxes and movements on the 3DS version aren't so great ,but that is probably just me.  I am how ever excited to see if there is a "play huge amount of hours" character. Like mewtwo you needed to win 700 matches or have a 20 hour long match in vs mode. I am pretty that was what you needed to do at least. I am beginning to doubt there being any more characters for the 3DS version how ever.

Link seems super fluid and mario is looking good as well. Mega man has a ton of ranged attacks so that might make him near impossible to defeat for those who lack a way to deal with that. Reflects should be able to really hinder him though.

Ganondorfs custom moves give him a sword so that is really cool , I know a lot of people have been wanting that. I am super excited for custom moves although I have not found many people testing them out on twitch. They say "Not going to mess with custom moves right now just going to get right to it" so I have not found many vids showing them.  I found this clip of link's bomb custom not sure if it is real though http://i.minus.com/iAq2uU6K9LPtQ.gif

Who do you think you will be playing a lot of?  I think I will be playing a lot of Peach,Jigglypuff, and zero suit again with Paulatina added to my list.

I'm excited to see that Nintendo will be releasing patches for the game. Some of those patches being toning down characters and others being toned up. I like balance patches so that characters are not op for the life of the game.

I'll definitely be maining Link and Zelda, since I pretty good at getting in close quarters (yes, I use Zelda Hyper-Offensive in melee and brawl, and it worked out for me a lot.) Lucina/Marth and Lucario will also be used and maybe Rosetta and Chiko.

And playing the demo a bit more, I noticed that if you play Link on a counter-acting base, he's a decent check to Villager and Mega Man.

There's also this video of Greninja getting absolutely destroyed by C. Falcon and Little Mac. I'll edit this when I get the url for it.

Speaking from watching streams of the Japanese version, I can say that Greninja is sort of like a spacing Shiek. Also, Bowser is really easy mode, and he doesn't flinch when he's hit by something that does 2% or less, which is a lot of jab combos.

Bowser looks OP like crazy from the little I've seen. I personally wouldn't be surprised to see him nerfed a bit (he needed a buff though, but this is a bit too much in my opinion, but I'll save my real judgement until I play it). Regardless, he definitely looks fun to play. I'm so excited for this game, and in fact I even joined Smashboards this week, as well as preordered the game today.

How do we know greninja is bad?

Speaking of balance I wonder how different the Wii-U version will be from the 3 DS one? Some animations, sizes, and weight will likely be different on the Wii-U version I imagine. I noticed some of the characters have huge ending lag ,but I think this will be corrected in the Wii-U version. Greninja's aerial smash attacks have weird ending lag on them ,but his animations look smoother in what we have seen of his wii-U game play. Only time will tell but I think the wii-u version will play differently.

Games in beta tend to be very large files compared to the final product. This is because one of the final touches is cleaning up the code by reducing it where it can be done without screwing up the game. Or replace it with something more compact. (It's the reason sonic '06 needs a very long time to load... The game was pretty much a rush job, so they didn't clean up the code.) However, I've already noticed that a few games are really pushing the limits of the 3ds. I am not the only one who gets lag during a Pokémon battle when the game gets at a certain camera angle in Pokémon Y. And I've heard people about the newest Monster Hunter having a few lag issues too.

Nintendo's already introduced a 3DS with a bigger processor power. Which is meant for the "Hardcore Gamers". And it would probably their "fix" for the lag issues some of the games have.

How is that a good reason? People saying something is bad in a game that is not even released yet is dumb. He might not be good at all ,but you can't assume he is the worst especially since only a few people can play the game right now.

@Flamelass
Ending lag is the amount of time it takes for a character to be able to attack after a movement. I was mostly referring to the way some of the characters have weird landing animations that use a lot of frames.  In brawl I think most people could begin attacking after 4 frames while a few others had to wait longer. Ganondorf's used more frames than normal  which really helped him become one of the weakest characters.  I should have been more specific  , my bad flamelass.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. the Fourth, Esq.
Post by: Shining Darkness on September 29, 2014, 11:21:37 AM
No character is bad in the game. Greninja has his mind games (on certain stages) with Shadow Sneak, Lucina being the balanced version of Marth, Link has a tipper, C. Falcon has a Ken Combo variant, Shiek's Up-b blows you away when she reappears, Lucario with the aura rage, Ike has better combos, and many more key points to the others. It all depends on your playing style.

Go watch twitch. That's all I can say to you. Not only a few players are playing it right now, TONS of people are playing(its released in Japan since Sep 13th and there's lots of English speaking people playing it), and all advanced gamers agree that greninja is gonna be in a low teir because it is simply out classed by other characters of the similar play style. I've been watching twitch a lot and I have yet to see greninja do even remotely good as other characters.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. the Fourth, Esq.

Yeah, I have to agree with Roloc. The more I see of Greninja, the more outclassed he unfortunately seems. On another note, how many people would be interested in partaking in a PU Smash 3DS Tournament? I may be interested in hosting one if there's any interest in it.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. the Fourth, Esq.
Post by: Roloc on September 30, 2014, 01:28:40 AM
I would be, but were getting it for the wii u. The small screen on the 3ds xl just didn't do the game justice. 1v1 is okay but when you get 4 people on that tiny screen and then you get extra characters popping in, it gets way to over crowded on that tiny screen. That's why we decide against it and went with the Wii u version. Play on the big TV :D

Though I would be willing to host a Wii u smash tournament for pu when it comes out shortly.

I'm going portable because I only have a 3ds. Getting used to a new format is pretty challenging, but I have no problem with it. I would like the Wii U Version, but I can't shell out that much money at the drop of a hat. I'll be up for a 3ds tourney though.

I really like Link and Toon Link, (my old mains), and I'd like to do more with Shulk but his moves just seem too linear, not wide enough.

I've unlocked: Wario, Ganondorf (beat Classic With Link on 7.0 up), Falco, Jigglypuff, ROB, Dr Mario (beat Classic with Mario on 5.0 up), Dark Pit, and Lucina (beat Classic with Marth). Not sure how to get Bowser Jr or Duck Hunt, or how I got the others.

EDIT: Realized while unlocking Lucina that Marth is really good

For Bowser Jr., you can either beat classic as Bowser on 9 difficulty, or play 100 matches. Duck Hunt is unlocked after playing 110 matches. I just finished unlocking everyone myself.

Atleast i won't have to ask for a ride to gamestop when i get a job because i moved and i've gotta learn how to ride the citybus.
I'll just get a card or something so i can pre-order it and pick it up at my front door.
both for 3ds and WiiU my main character for now will be pikachu till i can use others better than i do with pikachu.
I don't care if there are DLCs as long as i can get them easily.
