Hello everyone,
Today we had an important team meeting where we made some important decisions regarding Pokemon Universe. Now I'm excited to announce to you all that we have decided to aim to release a public Beta version of the game this december (2011)! No april fools this time ;).
It will feature a brand new map and all the basic features. This time we don't aim to just test our products, but we also want to give you guys a real taste of what we have in store! In time we will release information on features which will be implemented in the first beta release.

I was having one of the worst days of my life. Then I logged onto PU and saw this. My day just got a lot better.
I need to get my computer fixed so that I can help with balancing again. If my mom doesn't get someone to fix it in time, at least I can say that I helped, even if I just helped a little bit :P I really wish I could help more though...

Yea i was around since 09
I had an account when they still had the V1 site, but then I got grounded for a long time. I forgot about it(Which was something I never thought I would do). When I remembered, I tried to log in, but I couldn't with the username that I had(It probably got deleted :-\), so I made a new account. So I've been around for a while now. Like a lot of the active members, I've been waiting for this for a long time, and now it finally happened.

Yeah, the knights could use some more members. We have a wide range of personalities, and awesome people all around.

Ah beta time, the best time to be in any game. Testing and tweaking, bending and breaking. It'll be interesting to see just what the balance team has done and what shenanigans we all can get away with. Maybe I'll try and build my optimized poison type team just to see just how brutal it is. ^_^
Maybe I should dig out my quest notes and build some more courier quests. >.>
Here's hoping that I have a new machine before then or that my slowly dying one can handle it until I manage to afford a new one.. <.<

I know that he as done a great deal of good stuff... and that's the reason why I want to hear more about it. After all, the pre-beta package contained all the work he did and I was running them in non-stop loops sometimes lol.

whats the possibility or likely hood of this releasing earlier than is posted? Cause unfortunately i may be spending christmas in korea. and let me tell you how depressing it will be without a good internet connection.

You probably don't have to worry vengeful, the public beta will probably go on for 2-3 months, so you'll get to try it out.

I believe its 1 GB, Jerry, (if it were 1 TB, you could backup a computer in 1-3 secs.)
As for Armand, I imagine there will be a patcher/updater program.
Yes, Korea has a wonderful Internet, they get very nice data speed.

True, I've played some with many bugs. Actually, I haven't played any online Pokémon MMORPG's in a very long time. I guess because onne of them were that interesting to me. I always kept to the DS/Gameboy Advance SP Versions. I hope this one can blow my mind! The story line sounds really great so far, and all they could offer sounds great too. ;D

Anyways I've read a few comments and... YES! It will be awesome. If you have tried other Pokémon MMOs before, then you should dance around your room 3 times and cry "Huzzah!" since those were not games, those were Rip-offs of the original games/textures/sprites/etc.
I consider this the first Pokémon MMORPG, simply because it's gonna be great. If you want to do some research on what you will/might get feel free to browse the forums. :)

1.In PWO are just stupid downtimes.
2.WTH IS PCO?!
3.PU MMORPG is new and fresh.

PCO, I guess is Pokemon Crater.
There are already small tweaks that are in place to avoid and discourage grinding.

A few weeks ago I heard I had to move to another house before the end of the month. So these last 3 weeks I've been busy with getting the other house ready and packing my stuff, which would not let me keep much free time to work on PU. I'm officially moving this weekend so I hope to have more free time for PU after that.
Due to this you can expect the beta to be released somewhere in the the third or last week of December. We're still trying hard to make the December deadline.
I'm sorry for this "inconvenience", but I do hope you understand. If you don't.. I don't care.

I realized that when I first came here I wanted to just kind of play PU, but having had a few months here, the need to play sort of got stuck in the background. I'm just having fun with an awesome community, so whenever the game comes out, will be fine by me. :)

Same here. I haven't been here near as long as you but playing the game kinda fades away after awhile (not that I don't want to play) but waiting doesn't seem that hard now..

Agreed. At first I just wanted to play the game. After lurking for a while. I joined a Guild, got into competitive battling. Then changed guilds, got better at battling and won a singles tourney. I'm pretty content. It's a good community, with a bunch of solid members. Getting involved in the community has made the wait for the game, almost non-existent.
Also we haven't had a real spammer for a while. Those of you that know, know... And we recently had a problem but, I'd like to think it's resolved for now. Hopefully forever.
But anyway. It's a nice community that caters to all fans of pokemon.

Wow, I'm the exact opposite. I hate long battles that take about 7 centuries, and I love the adventuring part.
I can't stand adventures, unless its realistic like skyrim or real life.
Your the second trainer i've seen who don't like battles... I think they are the whole point, of the game. I've never had the dream of traveling every land, or catching them all. Quite frankly everyone that knows me, knows I believe 70 percent of them to be useless(not in PU tho).
I hate having to train them...(and don't care if they love me -crobat and aerodactyl are the exceptions to this.)Actually, in real life animals all love me. I love them as well...on my dinner plate. If I were put in one of the games, I suppose I would be made into a rival who sees her pokemon as nothing more than tools of war. Who can only love the ones who seem most useful to her. Im not really an azz, I just can't love something that aint human.(I believe doing so is ridiculous. I see them as food and or supplies) Its like older patriots feel about japs.(they just can't love them) plz explain ur side now

The whole Pokémon Universe was just a joke. The Team spent 3 years to try to make it realistic enough so it could fool over 60,000 people so that they would have a big laugh. So yeah the game never will come out.

its okay, sonic generations is only about 5-7 hours long, you should have time to play it at least 45 minutes a day if you want.

They can release it when they want to. Yes, they said December, but things can happen, and it is a possibility that it's delayed for another reason.

I don't remember it saying anywhere that the BETA would be released on Christmas. Sometime in December does not necessarily mean Christmas. It could mean the release will happen 1 second before New Year.

Pokemon Universe is free to play. Not free to play in the sense that most MMOs are, wherein you can play for free, but at the cost of losing many of the game's features. Free to play... completely. No matter what you want to do in PU, it won't cost you a dime. This works both ways, however. Mr_Dark and Urmel aren't getting any kind of income from PU. In addition, hosting two servers for an MMO is by no means free. Understand? No? Well, let's make it even clearer.
Pokemon Universe costs money to the developers. They pay to entertain you. So kindly, stop whining about how long it's taking for the beta to be released. They are under NO obligation to allow ANYONE to play at all.

Depends on your definition of kid. If your definition is like mine, which is any1 under 15, then this entire site is a majority of kids. Unfortunately.

I don't think it's very fair to make the generalization that only the active forum members are the "mature" ones, while the rest of the playerbase and childish kids waiting for the game to open so they can run around all noob-like.
To say that only the active members are the mature ones, while in some cases are true, aren't in others, since players who might want to be active don't have the time/ability to be.
Just thought I'd add my two cents to the discussion, back to being "a noob waiting for the game to open so I can wreak noobish havoc".

So out of curiosity how far off is the public beta from being released? As a very rough estimate weeks or months? Its probably a difficult question to answer but this game sounds like its going to be awesome.
Also Im assuming to use the pokemon franchise this has got to be a non profit thing so my other question is will the game be ok without a stable income from users or are you guys planning to use a loophole or something?
I beta tested pokemon neon which was good but then it fell apart without an income because of some costs or something.

I'm not sure I understand your logic. You're saying we should keep asking them because it's a free game and because they don't make any profit off of this game? I don't really see how that fits together.
As has been said before, the game is worked on in their spare time because they don't get paid to do this. You have to expect delays or even cancelations due to personal issues, not keep asking them about it. Because, trust me, it gets annoying being asked about 5 times every day, "Where can I play teh gaem?" or "When is the beta coming out?". I'm not the one who has to deal with that sort of thing, but I know it happens. We've had people (correct me if I'm wrong) get banned the day they register because they don't read the front page and leave the staff be. If people could just wait, we wouldn't have this issue.
All I'm saying is just let them do their work, it'll be done when it's done, and there's no point in asking because you'll get the same answer every time.

The devs don't like to be bothered about it, and do not have any obligation to do so since they don't get any money for this. If you want it done so bad, buy the pokemon company, gamefreak, and nintendo, and pay the devs. Since none of us can't, be patient, and quit asking.

WOW a non-profit game sounds awesome however if the game turns out as good as it sounds they should open a public donations. I know I will be donating if I see the makers are putting in 100% to keep the bugs out.
