Title: If you were a Gym Leader?
Post by: Dantizzle on December 31, 2011, 02:47:04 AM
I cant decide on my own, so I am just curious to see how other people think... ???

If you were the had your own gym and you were the leader:
What theme would you use for the Pokemon in the gym?
What kind of features/ mechanics would your gym include?
Which Pokemon would trainers in your gym use?
     Which Pokemon would you use?
What would the name of your badge be and what might it look like?

Normal type gym
Clefairy,miltank,clefable,snorlax
Neutral Badge. The Mitank would use the same cheap strategy in Pokemon gold/silver/crystal, and the snorlax would know snore, outrage, rest, and yawn.

The gym itself would be based off of the famous "stairs to nowhere" painting, and you would have to change switches to make the staircases lead up to me. The trainers would have clefairys and spindas.

First lets be real, I'd be an elite 4 member.

But, anyway.  If I had a gym it would be of the fire type.

I'd use Emboar, Ninetales, Arcanine, Infernape, Volcarona and Torkoal.

It would be called the Burning Star badge.

As far as the gym mechanics go.  It would be a question game all about pokemon.  Kinda like Blaine's gym in gen 1.  But, this would have a twist.  You would stand on a platform above a pit of lava.  For each correct answer you move forward one spot and for each wrong you go back one space and enter battle, where you only use one pokemon each.  If you lose you go back another space, if you win you stay where you are.  Then you would get another question.

Oh, and the battles will not be push over filler enemies.  They will use real sets, designed to beat you senseless.

Also during the question game you cannot revive or heal pokemon (Unless they have a move like roost).  Upon reaching me your pokemon will be healed.

This cycle would repeat until you move forward all 10 spaces and you reach me.

I don't really have a type preference, but if I had to choose, it would probably be grass, just because of the sunny day/solarbeam combo.

Sceptile (Sunny Day/Earthquake/Solar Beam/?)
Main goal is to get off sunny day, because of Sceptile's speed, earthquake to handle a fire lead.

Liligant (Sunny Day/Solar Beam/Synthesis/Quiver Dance)
Main sweeper, solar beam has no charge after sunny day, preferably off of Sceptile's sunny day. Also with the Chlorophyll ability, Liligant's base 90 speed is doubled, making it unmatched. Liligant also has great special attack. Quiver dance and synthesis are fillers, only to be used on a tank/staller.

Tangrowth (Earthquake/Giga Drain/Protect/Toxic)
Staller, also serves to take down fire types. Protect every other turn after using toxic, giga drain others. Break pattern if necessary to trick enemy.

Fire type gym ofcourse.

My gym would operate on this setup:

-The visitor must overcome 4 trials,so the gym would be split in 4 squares, the center being were the visitor faces the leader.
-The trials would consist of:Strength,Spirit,Mind and Skill.
-For each trial the trainer can only use one pokémon.
-Strength:The visitor and his pokémon must work together to destroy obstacles fit for both
-Spirit:The visitor will fight a series of battles in succesion, with no acess to items and only 1 pokémon. The test is passed after 10 battles won.
-Mind:A puzzle that features covering hot springs with boulders so the lvl of water drains and it becomes passable.
-Skill:The battling area of the gym, here it path is straight forward. But riddled with gym trainers.

I would use 3 pokémon:

-Ninetales(For drought)
-Arcanine
-Charizard(Last Pokémon)

The badge would be named....uhhh....Burning Wing badge. And i think the name describes it.

I would run a fighting type gym. The building would be based on Lt. Surge's gym (gen 1), but instead of bins there will be statues and you need to press 3 hidden switches instead of 2. There will be trainers walking around the gym (10) and 3 of them will give you a tip, but it will always be a riddle you need to solve.

My gym team would consist of Infernape, Poliwrath, Gallade, Scrafty, Heracross and Lucario (my EE-team). The badge would be called the Endurance badge and it would look like a Master's Wheel made of iron, with a saphire in the center circle and 4 rubies in the small circles at the outer ring. For those who don't know it, a master's wheel looks like this (follow the link):

I'd have an electric gym. It would consist of five battles, one after the other (like Nugget Bridge), at then end of which all the trainers pokemon would be healed so they could face me. The only rule would be that only held items can be used at any time in the gym.

My team would consist of Electrode, Ampharos, Electivire, Lanturn, Galvantula and Rotom. The rotom would have a different form each day, and on Sunday it would have a random form for each battle.

The badge would be called the Voltage Badge and it would look like a thick, yellow version of a resistor symbol (http://images.wikia.com/en.futurama/images/0/0d/200px-Resistor_symbol_America.svg.png)

Id be a mixed type gym like gary in silver and gold. I think the last gyms always have to be dragon or mixed to make it harder.

Pokemon would be:
Salamence
Kingdra
Arcanine
Electivire
Tyranitar
Torterra

Possibly too many pseudo legendaries there but my dream team i think.

Gym layout would be like brocks in first gen. A smallish room with 2 trainers using 2 or 3 pokemon each of mixed types. The challenger would have to face them to reach me.

Bad would be called Element badge or something but the name and look doesnt matter to me.

Water gym

I'd have:

Blastoise
Poliwrath/Swampert
Omastar
Kabutops
Empoleon
Crawdaunt

Aqua Badge :P

I think gym leaders cant have mixed types of Pokemon. Gary is not original gym leader of Viridian City so he use mixed types of Pokemon.

Btw. mine gym would be normal gym
Wigglytuff, Snorlax, Miltank and Tauros
Normal badge (am not creative)

I'd be a Ground Pokemon Leader :) (WOA! Surprise!)

The theme of the gym would probably be like a cave, something like Rustboro Gym in R/S/E, just a bit bigger.
The Gym Trainers would be using Ground Pokemon. Which ones, I don't really care.

My Pokemon would be:
Rhydon
Nidoking
Golem
Onix

Badge: Mountain Badge (Looks like a mountain, duh)

I'd be a Water-Type Gymleader ... Of course :P
My team would consist of
Empoleon
Blastoise
Samurott
Quagsire
Floatzel
Golduck
(There are a few final evolutions of starter pokemon in there :P)
The gym would be similar to Crasher Wake's Gym in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, except it wouldn't be like an indoor pool, it would be a beach type gym, but you still have to change the depths of the water like at Crasher Wake's to get through
The Badge would be the Splash Badge xD
Title: Re: If you were a Gym Leader?

Badge: Shadow Badge
Type: Dark Type
Pokemon Lineup:
     Houndoom (To counter Bug pokemon)
     Honchkrow (To counter Fighting pokemon)
     Hydreigion
     Bisharp
     Spiritomb
     Drapion
I would use a hidden floor Mechanic like the ghost type gym in gold and silver.  The trainers there would use:
     1) Sharpedo
         Skuntank
         Mandibuzz

     2) Tyranitar
         Krookodile
         Bisharp

     3) Scrafty
         Absol
         Mightyena

If the move sets are done right I think that might be a good challenge.

but all of the first level will be stage one/ baby type pokemon....and an eevee
The second level will be stage two pokemon...and an eevee
The third stage will be stage three pokemon...and an eevee
The final stage will be me as gym leader with the lineup

Vaporeon
Jolteon
Flareon
Umbrereon
Espeon
Leafeon
My badge will be called the Eon badge

id have a normal type jym that would have bouncy balls shaped like igglybuffs and you would bounce to higher levels and there would be slides shape like watchogs going down it would be like in clays jym but going up i would have 5 trainers having 3 pokemon each it would kindof be the same
(boufolant, taurus, miltank, watchog, wigglytuff, clefable, hierdier.)

When they reach the top they will challenge me and i would have...
(shiny igglybuff, stoutland, Pidgeot)

If I were a gym leader, I would be using mixed types. Monotypes are too easy to prepare for. The only way to beat me is to get past my vileplume of death, and quagsire of ultra derp.

My gym would be like a castle, with a maze on the inside. The only way to reach me is to get 3 keys, and use them on 3 locks hidden throughout the maze, so the door to the center will open.

My team would be
-Yanmega
-Quagsire
-Vileplume
-Emboar
-Hydreigon
-Rotom-A

By badge would look like the one on my guild page, without darkrai inside it of course. If you want a visual, just click the yellow button of awesome.

Hmm a Poison-type Gym maybe would be fun as first Gym.

1. Gastly - 10
2. Stunky- 11
3. Golbat - 13

Gastly because duh, most started get normal moves and can induce paralyze/sleep from Gastly's moveset
Skorupi inflicts poison, and somewhat compensates for potential bite users on Gastly
Finally a simple Golbat, not too tough, with health sapping moves.

Sort of challenge for early trainers. And before you ask me how can one get a Golbat below the level a Zubat evolves, don't ask me because there are Pokemon like that in the original games themselves. ::)

EDIT: Forgot somehow that Skorupi was Bug/Poison

You can catch lower lvl evolutions in wild

You can catch lower lvl evolutions in wild

I know.

And you can even get a couple of fully evolved Pokemon at level 1. Though not catchable, but through other legit means.
