Title: Question about Time Period
Post by: Tristan on February 06, 2012, 09:22:01 PM
So a while ago I read on the wiki about a Professor in Miryus that witnessed the battle between Kyogre and Groudon, and recently I saw a post by Mr_Dark saying PU takes place 100 years after Pokemon Black and White. Obviously said professor wouldn't be alive still, so my question is, has the timeline recently changed or is the wiki unofficial, or are these things just subject to change?

I found this one but I;m not sure if this is the one you saw.

But this is the wiki started by TheSolax
http://pokemonuniverseinfo.wikia.com/wiki/Pokemon_Universe_MMORPG_Wiki
Not sure if it's the offical one or not, but I think Mr_Dark approved of it

Hmm interesting i hadnt though of that. My guess is the time period is still subject to change but we are gonna need Dark to confirm on it.

That always occur to me when I read the wiki but never thought of posting it. =/
Some clarifications would be nice and all. :)

TheSolax's is the wiki I read, and it says it right under Professor Alder. I guess like the above posts, we'll just have to wait for clarification.

How come no one ever gets my name right?

Anyway, that is a good question... Since that Battle found place 2 or 3 years before B/W I believe, it would be 102/103 years ago...
Someone who actually is working with the storyline should answer though..

My theory would be easy enough : Celebi

Are you sure there was only one time where Groudon battled Kyogre? Are you sure whether it's the same Wallace as the Wallace we know from RSE? It could all well be his son/grandson/etc.

And I suppose the white haired boy with the green bandana is a total coincidence too, eh? ;) Naw, but I did consider that it could've been a later battle. I don't know, just something I noticed that kind of confused me.

Wallace could also be a title..... And maybe all pokemon trainers bust be boys with white hair and green bandanas....

Well I was referring to a story written in the wiki that mentions specifically while following "Wallace", Alder saw him talk to a white-haired boy with a green bandana. So it specified pretty well :P

I was just trying to rationalize...

I wrote that story and i fully intended it to be the same wallace and emerald from the games with the same event. I did not know that the game would take place 100 years after B/W and if that is true something will have to be changed.

I really enjoyed that story. I would love to see it be true lore but then again, I can see why putting the game 100 years in the future would be a safe idea.

Could be :P

Just like things appear to occur again and again through the centuries ;)

Well thank you then  ;)

Honestly, do you guys know how hard it is to write a history whilst constantly adding new storylines? :P But thanks for the heads up, most of the stuff I put up is unedited due to the fact that I want to get it out in the public domain as quickly as possible, so there are bound to be some inconsistencies. I'll edit/try and find a work around.

I don't think it's a far stretch for someone to be over 100 years old in a world as magical as Pokemon. A quick way to line up the story would be to include great age in the description of the man.

I think I'll be helping Declan clear up any inconsistencies, so everyone will be happy. Maybe we can run off the whole history repeats itself method.

I think that'd be the best solution really. Sort of like the Zelda games. New eras, new challenges.

Or perhaps say that Alder's grandfather witnessed the battle, told him the story as a child, which sparked his interest in legendary Pokemon research? He hears about Miryus possibly being the birth place of Mew and boom, incentive to go there. Just a thought.

The issue is now fixed :) For those of you who are interested, PU takes place exactly 39 years after pokemon Red + Blue
