Title: [Pre-Beta] Expectations
Post by: Mr_Dark on March 29, 2010, 02:55:48 PM
First of all:
3 days left till pre-beta launch *shrugs*

Second:
We believe a lot of people have a wrong image with this pre-beta. We suspect they think the first part of the worldmap is near done and everything can be done (like all buildings can be entered and all cities/towns are done) and it all looks pretty sweet (like the screenshots we posted).

BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE!!!!

We are still highly in need of pixel artists who can create new content for the game. Due to this problem we are forced to use content from the official games (but re-sized which looks like crap) as placeholders until we have our own buildings and stuff to replace them with. So please bare with us and don't complain some parts look like crap, because WE KNOW! and we're trying to fix it.

Also the main reason we are holding this pre-beta is to check how stable the client and server are and if they have any nasty bugs.

Mr_Dark i expect this will be similar to the beta i participating in last year, maybe better, so i have a pretty good idea, I'm just excited for the fact that i get to help in making it better ^ ^ and in all honesty if i had time and could be on during the prime times for everyone in Europe i would help out with the pixel artist part

This is quite offtopic, but there are no restrictions on timezone or age or anything else except skill for pixel artists. If you are a good artist, we are interested.

sorry for offtopicness(not a word) but really? The requirements say must live in their timezone area

Yes really, we have a bunch of team members who are not EU timezone. It's just preferred - but for pixel artists we are so far beyond being that kind of picky. If you are interested, you should talk to us on IRC.

I've never really made my own tiles or anything so im probably not much use lol

Where? I says:
"Can work in European timezone (we don't care where you from)"

I have the same feeling. And it really sucks to disappoint. This game still needs a ton of work and I hope everyone understands that. The last thing I want is for the testers to go into the game thinking this is the best Pokemon game ever, see what it really is, get bored, and leave.  :-\

in all honesty I'm sure some will leave, but really that's the natural process, once they see it when its completely done most who left during the betas will come back

[for the lolz]

Dammit i tough this was gonna be the best thing ever, i was planning on trading all my soul silver pokemon onto it and then have epic contest battles. When wil be the first tourney?

How many quests will be completed before i get cleared to start real thing.

Can i beat the whole leets battle.

CTF will be great, to bad on not getting a pixel one, but i guess 3d will still look good..

[done the lolz]

So now i wait patiently to look for bugs :D

Im sure, once the art side of the game has progressed, The PU team would post a few more screenshots.

Ill definitely be taking screenies. Whether or not we're allowed to post on the forums, not sure.

Hello there, I am a very experienced spriter/pixel artist looking to help with your game. I have been making custom sprites for games for a long time. Granted, I haven't ever tried Pokemon, but I have made many different types of 2d GFX such as: Sidescroller, Top-down, Anime, Medieval, etc.

I am seriously considering investing my time in your game, I see you are looking for help in this field. I would like to see what this game brings, what engine you are using (unless it's made from scratch), and how "promising" the game actually is.

You can email me and/or add me on MSN at: [email protected]

Thank you.

Edit: Oh, I almost forgot. I have work I can show you, and I can through MSN messenger or Email.
Unless you would rather me post it on here. (Which I really wouldn't like to do because I dislike posting my work on public places in case of stealers) But if I MUST, I will.

Honestly I'm the kind of guy who doesn't ever get my hopes up, which as i learned now is a good thing since life is poop and we all know it :]

Anyways I doubt I'd be leaving PU over the art ;P
I believe in you guys and am willing to stick here all the way >:]

1) Close prebeta starts tomorrow! Closed Beta

2) I believe you should read the rules, forum etiquette and by god, everything this forum has to offer before posting another line anywhere.

~this is for us as much as it is for you.

dear sweet mother of god... ::)

Well, I can only hope this game is released soon. Seems like it'd be better than the rest I've seen and tried playing.

i would rather that time and care was taken to create this game than a quick, rushed job. im sure when news filters through about this that it will become a great success.

This will eventually be a game, currently they are having a pre-beta for members who have been invited.
