Yeah, same here, seeing as it evolves into Charizard. Even though I don't want to pick the same thing everyone else is, I do want a Charizard.Yea plus the way the games are set up (not sure how pu goes) you can't get any fire pokemon till late in the game so it would make more sense to get the fire type early. i would ave to go with either torchic(6 AND 3 QUARTER POINTS) ,cyndaquil(7POINTS) ,totodile(4POINTS) mudkip(6 AND A HALF POINTS) , treecko(6 POINTS) or if u can pick a wild pokemon (which wold be revolutionary) its in name VULPIX(8 POINTS)

I think that you should be able to choose out of every starter pokemon in pokemon history. So you could choose from Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, cyndaquil, chicorita, totodile, torchic, mudkip, treeko, chimchar, turtwig, and piplup.

I would have to say Piplup. Later on, when it evolves into Empoleon, it's two types are Steel and Water. Almost unbeatable aside from a couple types.I don't like Empoleon...

They are all great pokemon to start with. With good training (battles to increase the pokemon's level) you'll soon see you chose a great pokemon. I like charmander, thats the one i want to start with. I will really enjoy evolving it into charmilion then the mighty charizard. Fire type pokemon are great. Well they are all great, they all have their strengths and weaknesses.Watch the mighty Charizard fall to Stealth Rock.

Totodile is the way too go unless they release Black and White before PU release date then im choosing TsutajataEven if they do release black and white within that time, it will take the PU Team a while to put the new Pokemon in. There is pretty much no way you will get your Tsutajata in PU to begin with, so good luck with Totodile. :)
I've always been partial to the first three starters, and always try to keep my team within the first 150 or so pokemon lol. Charmander will be my starter in Pokemon Universe.
I'll probably be a follower and pick Charmander, but my overall favorite pokemon is Squirtle. I just don't like his evolutions, for some reason.

After half a dozen mud slaps, practically all your attacks will miss XDIn my experience, matches don't last 6+ rounds very far after level eight. 'sides, there are items that can fixeth stat problems.

In any case, I've always thought Mudkip/Swampert were awesome because grass types typically aren't that common, are they? Or at least I personally hate them, except for Chikorita/Treecko. I figured electric types would be more common for some reason.
I also think that fire neutrality isn't much of a weakness for getting rid of grass-types. After all, I probably wouldn't want my Typhlosion going up against an Empoleon. The fighting type weakness is notable, though, so the steel dual-type does probably hurt more than it helps. (runs away from Blaziken)

because of the fact that Blaziken is a Semi-bird, it can learn a few bird moves: Peck, Mirror Move, Brave Bird, Im not sure beyond that.

I would love my starter pokemon to be Shinx. As much as I like Chimchar, I have to go with rioluRiolu isn't a starter pokemon. Riolu CAN'T be a starter pokemon. Riolu is a RARE pokemon, so it can't be so easy to get as simply choosing it as your starter. Besides, one or two kids on this forum would have no reason to continue playing once thay had a Lucario.

I usually build my team around my starter. I ususally have a four pokemon team of my water starter, a local flying type, Geodude, and an electric type. Like in Fire Red I had Blastoise, Pidgeot, Golem, and Jolteon. I use the other two slots for utility pokemon/HM slaves. I like saying utility pokemon because it's less demeaning.All the final evo's in D/P/Pt were so fugly that I turned my torterra into an hm slave in a team of two mewtwos, a Palkia, a Grovyle, and a mew. And utility pokemon just sounds like you're using them as a frickin' rope ladder or something.
Well that is pretty much how I use pokemon I give HMs to. I rarely use them in battle, except to take a hit for when I want to switch pokemon without letting the enemy get a free hit on my more important team member. I think utility is less demeaning than slave, but it may still be a little demeaning.Ahem...

Charazard is over rated, he is so popular because Ash uses him, and he is beast in the amine! He is no good in the games! ;DExcept... the anime sucks, and as I remember, Charizard barely appeared after the first season ended.
I know I've like charizard just because of the anime, and seeing him take down legendaries and such....This is what I mean! In the anime, he kills every thing that gets in his path! the only one that is worse is... his pikachu! it never loses against type disadvantages. sometimes it can only take one hit, other time it is unbeatable!
Except that in the recent episodes, Pikachu lost against the Hiyakku of the first Gym leader, a water type monkey...Yeah I saw that episode, what I mean is that he never loses to what he is weak to! another thing is that he uses moves that are "not very effective" all the time.

For me its between Squirtle and Cyndaquil. Squirtle has always been my favorite pokemon from the show but cyndiquil has to be my favorite from the game even though he was in only one version (gold/silver/crystal). If i can get both i'll be happy so it doesn't matter which one i start with. But if i could choose any pokemon to start with it would have to be Zangoose hands down.

On that note, not all pokemon with a type disadvantage need to have a high level to be able to beat another with a type advantage. There are pokemon in such situations able to get the win :PYES that is true once i somehow mangaed to beat the elite for with a nidoran on pokemon red i was like :o when i survived the first hit (the oppenent missing)(and not the actual leader just one of the E4)it was like a lvl 10 or something
I'm picking mudkip. Sapphire was the first game I can actually remember playing, and the mudkip I got was my first pokemon to reach lvl 100.i agree. mudkip was my first pokemon has its advantages against electric but grass can be a problem =[

I would still go with Typhlosion because it not only looks mean, it is mean. I always choose the fire starters, and the best one I ever had to work with was Typhlosion.

The snake lord is just a weaker but faster version of meganium. The. Only base stat that meganium is worse in compared to jalorda. Is speed. Everything else she succeeds inThat's mostly true I suppose. Even with Meganium having higher base stats in comparison to Serperior, I always beat anyone with a Meganium with my Serperior. I guess it's all about the the EV's, IV's, and strategy.

You're gonna have to go with Infernape, because you won't be able to choose Snivy as a starter. From what I hear, you'll be able to get them somehow, but not as starters.

Squirtle. I used to have a small sqirtle figurine, and everytime I watched or played pokemon, he was right by my side. I can't betray him, so he's my alltime, favorite, ONLY CHOICE of starter. Nothing can compare to the originals!! :)
I used to have a Squirtle figurine (the kind from the mini pokeballs) and I have a Blastoise plush from forever ago. I think Squirtle is my favorite Kanto starter, but he's tied(ish) with Cyndaquil for my favorite starter overall.*gasps* Yes! That's exactly it! OwO I also like Cubone alot, but he isn't a starter pokemon. Cindaquil was also a favorite of mine. First Pokemon I learned to draw.

I always found Blastoise the ugly badass. He's a badass, but so, so ugly. I'm not fond of Charizard either. The flame on his tail ruins the whole image. Don't even get me started on Venusaur.
