Oh My God. They didn't just make a Pokemon out of a Lawnmower...
Ok, this is gonna be fun ;)
There has been too much love for various Pokemon over in the Fav's thread. So the time has come to let the world know which you hate and despise. Everyone has a few Pokemon they think should be erased from history forever. I want you to list the ones that really make you cringe when you see them, and give the reason why.
Reasons are important! They make for a more interesting read.
Sample reasons:
- It's really ugly (please specify why)
- e.g. its face (Spinda, Croagunk), the whole thing (Skuntank) etc.
- It was lazily drawn (anything with an oval for a head)
- It's too similar to earlier Pokemon (Pachirisu)
- It's a stupid concept for a Pokemon (Rotom, Combee)
- It is a collection of "cool" features thrown onto a Pokemon but it doesn't really work as a whole.
- It doesn't appear to have a brain. (Whiscash, Quagsire, Slakoth)
- Please note this doesn't include Pokemon such as Magikarp or Slowpoke, which are supposed to be stupid
My list:
- Golbat (that tongue annoys me)
- Jynx and Smoochum (it's not only offensive to black people, it's a Pokemon with breasts and huge lips)
- Sunflora << ugly as sin
- Dunsparce (whole thing is ugly, brainless)
- Hitmontop (stupid concept)
- Ludicolo << tacos anyone?
- Slakoth (brainless)
- Whismur (those aren't eyes)
- Loudred (very ugly, with its mouth open like that and those ears.)
- Nosepass and Probopass (stupid concept)
- Volbeat << these two are just offensively bad
- Illumise <<
- Spinda (those still aren't eyes)
- Cradily (ugly face, bulbous body just doesn't appeal)
- Glalie (Stupid concept)
- Huntail (Ugly face)
- Combee (wtf?)
- Purugly (this has to be a designer's joke)
- Croagunk (Ugly face; bad, rounded 4th gen design)

Hitmontop is a spinning top, it is just my opinion that a Pokemon that spins on its head is silly and wouldn't work :p You don't have to agree with me.

Honestly;
Spearow in generation 1 because it always whiped my bulbasaur out at the start of the games.
Generation 2; Hoppip. As if Magikarp was'nt enought, we get a grass/flying type that learns its first damage giving move at level 10.
Then Feebas came. I could live with 1 stupid fish. but two.... At least this one can actually learn TM/HM as well as tutor moves.
Generation 4 has never been my thing. The first pokemons I saw from there was the pre-evolutions and new trade-evolutions. Not that many "new" pokemons. However, generation 4 is always the generation with many strong pokemons too and as far as I know; no splash damage!

One pokemon- Darkrai. Darkrai especially gets annoying on random battles on PBR, mainly because of it's signature move, dark void, and the thousands of people who use it. darkrai wouldn't be so bad if it's signature move wasn't so annoying.

Moves that cause Sleep are pretty cheap in general. I had an idea for PU where if your Pokemon took any damage, it would wake up. This includes leech seed, burn and poison damage. Sleep would only be used for buying time to recover, power up your own pokemon and reduce the stats of your opponent.

Dunsparce is stupid, Croagunk creeps me out, and I like hardly any of the 4th gen pokemon that were new evolutions or pre-evolutions of already existing pokemon. Gallade and Froslass are a couple of the exceptions for that; they were pretty cool. There are plenty of other pokemon I don't really care for, but those are the only ones I specifically do not like.

They represented the Carp jumping the Dragon gates and a ugly duckling maturing into a thing of beauty...how could you hate that?

I absolutely HATE Porygon- Z >:(. 2nd one, i can live with but three is a joke. Looks too crazy and does not even look like porygon anymore. They need to simplize the newer pokemon, like the old pokemon.

I literally hate every Pokemon that isn't in the first 151.
By this time they had started to run out of ideas and I think from this point there are way too many.
I used to be able to name every single Pokemon, where is is found, and what type it is... but now there's so many it just ruins the franchise, for me anyway.

Those Pokemon are only made so they can make a new Pokemon game (OK,, a new Pokemon game is not so bad :D) and a couple of new Pokemon seasons..
To me they look like some drawings from someone who hadn't had any inspiration... or to much ::)

Even some of the DP episodes (season 11/12 whatever), has the same stories as the ones in season 1 and so on.

Almost all the 4th gen. (apart from luxray, pretty cool having an new strong electric for a change) I hate Tangrowth, Magmortar, Electrivire, Togekiss ect. They are starting to look like random shapes and animals that have already been used before. HATE with a passion most of the electric types, they are really ugly (only like the pika, mareep and shinx families). Zubats and geodudes because of going in caves in most games, especially red/blue/yellow.
All legenderies after the 2nd gen. I dont like Buizel/Floatzel (putting a rubber ring around an animal dosent mean it can swim!!!!!!!!!!!)
I think the newer the pokemon the worse they get, i likw 99% of gen 1, 90% gen 2, 60% of gen 3, 10% (on a generous day) gen 4.

Aw! Come on that thing turns into a kik butt purple puppy! Try making a team of all purple pokemon! That is really fun. Granbull, Grumpig, Sableye, espeon, Nindoking, Cloyster
Any way after fifth gen its hard to keep track of all the horrible pokemon. I hate how remoraid evolves into octileray.

Shroomish may not be so hot but Breloom packs a huge punch in the first two elite four since all the the first trainers pokemon are weak to its fighting moves. It's leech seed pulled me through the final elite. I have to admit I didn't like the pokemon at first but it grew on me, now I think it's pretty cool. I thought leaf green and fire red's Elite four were harder than in previous versions. When I got to the final elite his pokemon were almost 20 lvls higher than mine!!

Then play something like Sims :p
Heres my list
I like:
- Infernape: with Blaze you can do all when you think, the game is lost
- Ambipom: best fake out starter in UU battles
- Machamp: No Guard + Dynamicpunch pwnage
- Tentacruel: brilliant special wall and knows toxic spikes and rapid spin
- Skarmory: since it knows Roost, its the best staller, only Magnezone weakness
- Suicune: unknown, but one of the best water tanks aside from Vaporeon
- Gardevoir: not the best states, but lots of usefull attacks and a pretty usefull trait
I could list lots of pokemon here and explain....
There are no pokemon which I don't like. I can only list pokemon, who are not good in battles because of bad moves.
Pelipper: but in game, its good because it knows Surf, Waterfall, Fly etc...
Regigigas: the trait makes the pokemon die fast...
Tangela: there are better options...

only few pokemon i actually hate are tangula (and evo) and porygon(and evos) and other such ugly pokemon like vaporeon

ok before everyone in the forum starts saying that pokemon keep getting stupid looking with every gen just remember that origeneraly pokemon was made for 10 - 12 year olds after school and then other people of other ages started liking it or grew up with it like us. the designs are just becoming more realistic than they used to be so that kids can reconizes the pokemon for their basic structure. like infernape is soposed to be a monkey. torterra is a land tortois. totadile is a alligater/crocodile. and other examples thereof. opinions are well and dandy but pokemon is pokemon they all have good traits and they all have bad traits. I mean have any of you actually trained all 493 pokemon to lv. 100. sure some are extremely powerful but beating the strong one with a team of lv. 100 caterpies kakunas and others of the like is something that can be a good experience.

Ok. Firstly, Pokemon is definitely still made for the 6-14 age group. Those of us who are older than that either loved Pokemon as younger kids, or are here simply because Pokemon is so huge, that by probability there is going to be a large community of older fans (though still vastly outnumbered by young kids).
I'm not sure what you mean by "getting more realistic" with each generation. I took the liberty of counting the number of pokemon which appear to be closely based on an animal or plant:
Gen 1 - 93/151 62%
Gen 2 - 47/100 47%
Gen 3 - 66/135 49%
Gen 4 - 55/107 51%
The design of Pokemon is getting lazier, an example being the number with an oval for a head -
Plusle, Minun, Nuzleaf, Slakoth, Spinda, Aipom, Pachirisu, Ambipom, Buneary, Glameow, Purugly, Mime Jr., Croagunk, Lickylicky, Electivire, Lake spirits.
Notice I'm not even including those that should have round heads, like Pichu, Torchic, Mudkip, Surskit, Swablu etc.
There are also copies made, some of which are ok, and some which are just unnecessary:
Sentret/Furret and Zigzagoon/Linoone
Pichu, Plusle, Minun and Pachirisu
Wurmple/evolutions and Caterpie/Weedle/evolutions
Meowth/Persian and Skitty/Delcatty and Glameow/Purugly are all normal type housecats
Venomoth and Dustox and Mothim - do we really need three different moth pokemon?
Magnezone, Electivire, Magmortar and Rhyperior just look bad. They ruin four great lines of pokemon.
Also, Torterra is based on Aspidochelone, a legendary sea turtle with an island on its back.

I don't see why I have to train every (or any!) Pokemon to 100 to hate a design.

You wouldnt buy a very expensive car because it performs well if its extremely ugly.

i agree. the newest ones where epic failures. game freak should hire me to design pokemon ;). also dont like regice cuz the legs are stupid. and zubat pissed me off becuase it always shows up in caves.

Togetic << Looks bad.
Gen III:
Sceptile << Looks crap, not remotely badass.
Combusken << Looks... again just awful. Also like a big penis.
Poochyena line << Okay idea (dark pokes early), just looks bad and has bad stats.
Zigzagoon line << Why would we need more?
Wurmple lines << Tries to be like Caterpie - Butterfree and Venomoth. Fails at holding a candle to both.
Lotad, Seedot lines << Just suck. Aren't Pokemon.
Taillow line << Awful design. Look awful.
Masquerain << I like the animals that Surskit is based off. Masq just sucks.
Slakoth line << Snorlax forever. Also, like, Sloth pokemon could be so much better.
Whismur line << Just f* it.
Makuhita line << Looks like a sack of crap.
Nosepass << Fffff
Skitty line << Make it like... Psychic type or something and maybe we'll talk. Just generic pokemon. Normal Psychic.
Electrike/Manectric << Their heads are like... messed up, if their manes were redesigned they'd be pretty okay.
Minun/Plusle << ...
Volbeat/Illumise << God damn it. Just awful in every way.
Roselia << Too cute looking. No personality.
Gulpin line << ...
Carvahna/Sharpedo << Just suck.
Wailmer line << Eh.
Numel line << Make them look better and they're okay.
Torkoal << Make him look better (his head is awful) and okay.
Spoink line << God damn it.

Solrock/Lunatone << GOD DAMN IT.

Feebas line << Magikarp #2 attempt. Hell no.
Castform << ... ('...' basically means "It sucks balls")

Spheal line << Better art could make them passable.

Relicanth << Eh... not too bad in design. Sucks though.
Lovedisk << Hate. So much hate.

The Legendaries << All of them are terribly designed.
So, the salvageable ones are: Spheal line, Relicanth, Torkoal, Numel line, Electrike line, Sceptile, Combusken.
For Gen IV, I'll actually list the ones I like. As I hate them all cept for a few. Generally because they are badly designed in terms of look (they look bad), they are moronic, or they're just a dumb rehash of previous pokemon.
I like:
Turtwig line << They still need to be redesigned - example, Torterra should have a proper face.
Chimchar line << They do a bit for the metagame, however, they need to be redesigned. The tatts just look bad.
Piplup line << Empoleon needs to look more organic, with more personality.
Starly line << Pidgey... but in the BL tier. I can respect that. Maybe better faces.
Shinx line << Better faces.... white tummies... look more like Pokemon
Buizel << Take off the ring and he'd look good. Floatzel sucks balls.
Ambipom << Aipom needed an evolution, but this one looks pretty bad. Fix his face, make the hands more like Airpom's tail hand, not like freaking... massive pimples on palms.
Mismagius << Hell yes.
Honchkrow << Maybe make him a little less stumpy and fat. A more full body would work.
Happiny << I can respect it.
Chatot << Looks like a Pokemon. I can deal with it.
Munchlax << Sure.
Lucario line << Look quite like Pokemon. Well done.
Weavile << Sure
Abomasnow << Well, he was a good concept (Grass/Ice). But he looks like crap. Totally redesign him.
Lickylicky << Redesign and he'll be okay.
Tangrowth << Maybe another redesign.
Yanmega << New, more colourful colour scheme.
Leafeon/Glaceon << Good. Actually look like Pokemon. Awesome.
Gliscor << Slight redesign
Dusknoir << Sure. I like the pre-evolutions.
Legendaries << Get f*d.
Okay... so that's all the ones I hate, and, the ones I can actually stand from 4th gen. Most of which still need to be redesigned haha.

Rhyperior- Just looks awkward and disproportional. It just kills such an awesome, basic looking Pokemon, Rhydon
Scizor- Deadly scythes turn into crab claws? Lame.
Zubat- Please leave me alone, I'm just trying to get to Cerulean.
Tentacool- The Zubat of the sea...
Plusle/Minun/Pachirisu- I'm sure Pikachu's just as pissed about these guys.

Gen1-the zubats, tentacools, geodude always up your ass when your traveling
Gen2-What does Dunsprance think it's doing?
Gen3- this is when the designers started getting out of hand, wurmple wasnt a necessary addition
Gen4-No need for Gen4, Gliscor was cool, Rhyperior(I agree with Dellancher) and like Arceus just bust the balls of Mewtwo, I dont care what you say Mewtwo is always the best

But honestly, any Pokemon with the annoyingly high-pitched voices. Gives more goosebumps than nails on the chalkboard.

It just makes legenderies not as cool or rare.
Started of with just Mew, Mewtwo, and the 3 legendary birds.
then two new birds, and 3 dog type looking things. (and they where still bad ass looking)
but they just had to keep on adding and adding, and it just made me feel like a legendary wasn't so legendary at all.

yeah, lucario is a good pokemon eventhough i never used him but he KO almost 3 of my pokemon on pokemon platinum with cynthia's lucario... he also had a good type fighting/steel which resist almost all type attacks excluding the set move dealer(dragon rage)...

Not completely true, but Lucario is weak to Fire, Ground and Fighting moves, which are very common among trainers.

Wahahah! Finally, a thread where I can show my despise of the Pokémon I despise! Well, the fourth generation wouldn't be worth even mentioning (I'm a first and second generation fan, and find a lot of the third and almost the entire fourth series merely a parody of what Pokémon really is).
In the first series I don't mind any Pokémon, except the over-frequently appearing Rattata (simply because it appears over-frequently).
In the second generation:
- Aipom: Nintendo is showing the first signs of losing their grip, by putting a hand on the tail of a stuffed monkey for no apparent reason.
- Unown: These would be a brilliant idea if there were something making them worth collecting. Just looking for them all without having a reason except just to have them all gets boring really quickly.
- Skarmory: I'm happy to see a non-legendary flying Pokémon that is not also normal type, but why did they have to make it so useless and solid? This Pokémon seems exciting at first, but has no function except enduring for a while.
There goes my list :P In the third series, the Pokémon are mostly not too bad, but none of them are fascinating or exciting the way the older ones were, merely substitutes. In the fourth series, the neccessity of making new Pokémon shines through, not leaving much of an impression of originality and creativity. It would be easier to mention the few ones I actually like.

While I do hate quite a few pokemon, I generally don't like any of them from generation 4 since they just went over the top with them and well that lost me at generation 3 so ya.

I'd have to say Dustox, Beautyfly, and Wurmple.
Why?
Beautyfly if a rip off of Butterfree, with pretty much the same abilities except Butterfree is more BAMF.
And Dustox because well it's as weak as Beautyfly and it's kinda ugly. In which in resembles a Moth.
And Wurmple because it can turn into TWO DIFFERENT POKEMON! It's totally random I was trying to get a Beautyfly in Ruby and is turned into a Cascoon. (I think, haven't played Ruby in years.) I wa like WTF MAN?! So I gave up on the Beautyfly.

The Pokemon I hate most is Lance's Dragonites! They are so annoying so I just healed over and over and beat them with Lugia using extrasensory. Each one of his 3 probably cost me around 20,000 Pokedollars. The rest of the elite four was super easy though. (I'm talking about Soul Silver)

I used to be able to name every single Pokemon, where is is found, and what type it is... but now there's so many it just ruins the franchise, for me anyway.
Blaze knows what pokemon is about. Its all about the Red/Blue/Yellow version Pokemon. Although, pikachu in the anime is a woman and there should be a pikahater club on this chat to support this.

Magikarp is so odd. Why would they make a move that does absolutely nothing? Splash. When I was a little kid I would try to do everything to make Splash have an affect (battle in water, give it odd items..).

Ok so ther are some pokemon that are annoying because they show up too much(zubat and tentacruel)and there are some very weird looking ones, but I think that the designers were trying to make more realistic pokemon that are similar to existing animals. Many people complain that pokemon such as Pachirisu and Pikachu are too similar but in reality how much more different is a real squirrel from a mouse? They're both rodents...Its the different species of animals that look similar and thats why certain pokemon look similar. They're not all just cheap knockoffs!
As for pokemon that look nothing like the original or really distorted, I think the designers were only trying to create new pokemon to satisfy the complaints of you people that say newer pokemon are too boring and similar. At the very least, know that the designers are thinking in your best interest.

Pokemon like Picharisu and Plusle/Minun. If you're going to make a pokemon with no evolutions, don't make them so weak. Dunsparce is in this group too.
Too many of a certain type of pokemon. Do we really need three different normal type versions of a cat? Persian was fine, and Delcatty is ok if you think of it like a pampered housecat as opposed to a feral cat like Persian. But Purugly? Why? This also includes too many of a certain type. Of course this goes along with my believe that we have way too many pokemon in total. Coming out with new pokemon each generation is all well and good, but does it have to be 100+ each time?
From a strategic standpoint you have some pokemon like Camerupt. Low defenses and health do not go well with low speed, especially when your signature move loses power when you lose health.
As a final off topic note, I'm posting in this old thread because a Mod locked a recent best or worst thread and linked to this one, telling the OP to use the search function. It seems odd for a Mod to do this for such an old thread, but whatever.

Actually, dunsparce is really cool. it can learn lots of cool moves like glare and roost and water pulse and thunder and ice beam, and can be a really good flinch-and-para-hax pokemon because of its ability, serene grace. Except that togekiss does everything dunsparce does about a billion times better, even though it has a shallower movepool.

One pokemon- Darkrai. Darkrai especially gets annoying on random battles on PBR, mainly because of it's signature move, dark void, and the thousands of people who use it. darkrai wouldn't be so bad if it's signature move wasn't so annoying.

Anyway I always hated Luvdisk, I may have said this earlier, but seriously WTF. It's like a Heart shaped Frisbee or something.
Also Glameow/Purugly I mean a good looking Pokemon that evolves into an ugly Pokemon... and they meant for it to happen? Glam Meow, Pure Ugly.

Whoever said Mewtwo was supposed to remain the strongest pokemon for all time? He was the most powerful pokemon of the first generation, but that doesn't mean he is the most powerful pokemon to ever exist.
Although he does have a base stat total of 680, and while a few pokemon tie with him only Arceus has more. So I guess arceus is the first to really break the mold.

Really, I don't hate any Pokemon. But, if I had to pick one to be the most annoying, that title would fall unto Salamence. From start to finish, it is a horrendously ugly Pokemon. I haven't seen sin that hideous since I first saw the previews to Magmortar. (More like Fagmortar. [He's actually a pretty chill dude. We hang.])

I can give you numerous reasons from an artistic standpoint, spriting standpoint, or just design standpoint.
1. It is horribly blocky compared to most other sprites. Its shape is very reminiscent of the old RBY and GSC sprites (RE: Tyranitar) even though they tried to streamline it.
2. Keeping a Pokemon that was meant to be agile that big and bulky leads to awkward shapes.
3. Its colors are a bad clash by design alone. (Even though they aren't as bad as some others.)
4. Its wings look like they were cut from a plastic sheet and then glued onto its back.
5. Its body is far too disproportionate for its size, stats, and relative bulk.
The only dragons I'm truly fond of are Dragonite and Flygon.

I suppose you have a point about the wings, and for a dragon that's supposed to be a fast sweeper he doesn't look like he'd be all that agile.
Unbreakable I can agree with because Gamefreak has a habit of making redundant pokemon. I do think there are too many pokemon, and something that would trim down the number is not making so many pokemon that are so similar to each other. I think one of the biggest examples is Persian, Delcatty, and Purugly. Also all the normal/flying types. We don't need to have what amounts to the current generation's version of an older generation's pokemon.

The move is cheap, especially in double battles where the sleep clause is off. its an accurate enough sleep move that affects all pokemon in battle, and is probably a main reason darkrai has been banned to ubers

I'm not gonna lie, I hate all Pokemon after the original 150 (151 if you count Togepi). I consider the first 300 to be real, but nothing can ever be better than the original 150. I mostly hate them because Nintendo is only making new Pokemon so they can sell the games to young kids. None of the new Pokemon are as cool as the original.

Um... from the anime, you can have pokemon from any Gen at some point in the game when it shouldn't be... like the Ho-oh Ash saw on his very first day. But yes, Mew is the number 151. Togepi is number 175, purely Johto.

Shadow Force is the name and Signature move of girantina, the "dimensional" pokemon.
In all actuality, Palkia's Special Rend should be the move that penetrates through protect, since it is the pokemon of space.

I felt the same about gen 3 and 4 but then those turned out to be my first and third favorite generations. (Isshu is 2!)

I find the Scizor hate funny, since that's one of my favorite pokemon. Lots of resistances, plus recently he got roost and bullet punch along with technician to power up some of its attacks. Yes he lost some speed. Whoop de doo. not that I don't like Scythere. He's cool too. One of the only good Gen 1 bugs.

OK, I few problems: Scizor is even cooler the Scyther, Floatzel is the same with buizel, Magmorter is one of my all time favorites, he has cannons I mean my god, what more could you want!, Dragonite looks more dragon then any others, Altaria just because it is dragon type doesn't mean it should look dragon, meowth maybe I think you look dumb!
Also Gen 5 has some of the best. Especially teh otter. Also Charizard has wings, and breaths fire, so I think it is more Fire/Flying then Fire/Dragon, also Pokemon can't be bad because they "look stupid."

I hate Purugly mainly because it's en example of the devs just making the present gen's version of last gen's pokemon. They d that with the normal and flying types too, but I can't hate Staraptor. They gave him close combat, as well as possibly the best attack stat of all the normal and flying types. Then there's Swellow, who they gave good speed and guts to.

There are fanmade fusion pokemon because some type combinations haven't been done yet, I suppose. Like frikkin' fire and dragon pre generation 5. And then they make it a legendary, so it can't breed and will likely be stuck in the uber category.

They seem to be working on it, though, since Gen V gave us a fully evolved pure dragon, and a dark/dragon type. Still you're right that they need a nonlegendary dragon/steel type, as steel is the only type that's resistant to dragon attacks. Hence why I can have a pokemon spamming outrage just fine against your dragon team. All three hits will be super effective.

Got to disagree there. I absolutely love Darkrai. It's about the only legendary I like, and the only one I've ever used in a team (once, though). I hate seeing it in competitive battles, as you do... but I hate seeing any legendaries in battles; but I love Darkrai as a Pokémon.

No, Bibarel is not the most retarded looking pokemon I've ever seen. I also have no problem with Ludicolo, though croagunk and the gen V version of sentret do look a bit weird.

I don't really like Bidoof at the beginning of the game because his skills are not that good. So I usually don't use him or waste my time getting up his level. I'd rather use Machop; he seems to be a better fighter with better physical skills.
