Anime & Movies / Pokemon Apokelypse trailer
« on: September 23, 2010, 08:50:43 am »
Just got off from work and checked on Sankaku to find this trailer.

If this were made into a real movie, i know for sure that it'd be badass.

The video has only been up for 3 days(ish) and almost has 2 million views, so im sure most of you have already seen it.

If you hadnt, the trailer's worth the watch.

Move tutors and move relearners, are there any plans to implement this in PU?

Used search (using a variation of keywords) and was unable to find a topic on this.

Ideas & Suggestions / trainer card swapping
« on: June 24, 2010, 06:33:58 pm »
Yes, mi proposal involves swapping those lame useless trainer cards, in-game. Instead of only being able to view (and admire) one's own trainer card, i figured that sharing your team, stats, and name with the world of PU wouldnt be too hard to implement. But mi idea goes a little deeper than that.

The player would begin with 5 trainer cards of him/herself and swap with any other player in the world of PU; then that player swaps with another player and that player swaps with another.. etc. (similar to trading cards.. these cards would not have any monetary value tho) All trainers would have the option of disabling (and enabling) and updating their team, badges, on their cards at any time.

But wait, there's more..

I've been logging on to the pre-beta on and off lately, wondering about what to do when none of your friends are online.
How will you get that extra "training" in you werent able to get because of a friend's 7 o'clock bed-time? ???

Just as most racing and fighting games gives one the option to participate in fights/races against ghosts (A CPU that utilizes same/similar stats, tendencies, and abilities of a real life player against real life players).

I figure that something similar can be used in PU.

Im proposing that a machine (or magical evil alien wizard), of some sorts, can be used in which the player inserts a trainer card and it emanates a ghost of the corresponding player and his/her team that's featured on the card.

meaning, you'd be able to battle the ghost of the player and his/her team, by collecting his/her trainer card and going to the designated area to battle.

Of course there would have to be limits on the number of battles and number of trainer cards a player can hold at once.. and of course.. restrictions on amount of EXP gained during ghost battles but this is something that would definitely separate PU from any "run in the mill" Pokemon RPG.

Now that I have this all typed out, i've started thinking.. and is pretty sure this wont be implemented. If it were, this would be a good alternative to training and could just be something to do when there is nothing to do.

Just throwing is out there. Im sure it's bound to get shot down.

Ideas & Suggestions / New bag, badge bag?
« on: June 24, 2010, 06:33:36 pm »
Just as the title suggests, I think that implementing a new bag would add a little more depth to the game. Just as in the newer generation games we are introduced to the items, pokeball, key items, TM/HM, and berry bags. I come to wonder why a bag was never appropriated for gym badges. The bag, im proposing, wouldnt be anything "special" and wouldnt contain a myriad of items; it would feature only items relating to the badges a trainer owns.

The only items that I can think of at the moment, for the bag, are (of course) the badges, one's own trainer card (brings me to mi next idea, will have up shortly), and possibly a mini-map of the gym.

Nothing ground breaking... but after clicking (examining) a particular badge, you are given the option to view the "trainer's" scorecard, of sorts. While viewing the trainer's scorecard, you would be able to see the trainer's team used to obtain the examined badge, win/loss versus gym leader and his/her pupils (assuming one would be able to battle more than once, even after defeating), and other things relating to one's experience with the selected gym.

Another option one would be able to view is the "universal" scorecard of sorts. The universal score card would have stats coresponding to the gym leader win/loss record versus the mass of PU. Average number of trainer battles per day, and other things.

IM aware that this proposal is not much more than an extra feature (as is most proposals).. but I think something like this wouldnt hurt to add.

Just throwing is out there. Im sure it's bound to get shot down.

Ideas & Suggestions / Pokemon Storage System (pss)t!
« on: June 19, 2010, 04:15:30 am »
I was curious to know of what you (the PU team) had planned for the Pokemon storage system. Instead of it being a place to just store, rearrange, release, and take out pokemon.. I was hoping for a more interactive experience with the PC.

Im unsure if this has already be discussed but i was hoping that maybe the PU team could add features like a sort option, to view pokemon based on gender, time that they were caught, level range, type, resistances, rarity, etc.

Or even an option to designate 3-4 (maybe more) team slots so that the player would be able to instantly take out his/her wanted 6 instead of having to sift through hundreds of doubles or forgotten pokemon.

Right now Im a little forgetful, so i honestly cant think of what the gba's PC options consist of.

One feature Im aware of is the "hall of fame" feature, after beating the elite four.
I, personally, think that it'd be cool if players could have their own hall of fame feature in their PCs for every gym leader beaten.

Well, not a hall of fame, but an option to view one's pokemon team that's just defeated a gym leader, Brutal five, or even the team that bought a player to victory in a major tournament.

These are just random ideas that came to mind but many things can be done to enhance one's experience with the PC. These are just a few.. and I apologize if this has already been discussed.

Japanese Entertainment / Best anime of Spring 2010 season
« on: April 20, 2010, 01:04:27 am »
The Spring 2010 lineup has been airing for a few weeks now and some of these shows are entering their third (fourth) episodes.

Some have already gotten mi attention while others are starting severely slow and are pretty boring.
I was curious to know what you all think of this new season. And which shows are turning out to be the best.

I made this question a poll (max 2 votes) as well, just in case if some clueless
sap person had no idea of what these anime were, they could use the results as a guide (possibly).

                _________________________________________________________

Mi two favorites, at the moment, would have to be Angel Beats and Ichiban Ushiro no Damao.

Angel beats has the vibe of one of those deeper anime (similar to Durararararararara and Paranoia Agent). The little reminders that God may or may not exist keeps me interested, in itself. Cant wait til the story progresses.

Ichiban Ushiro no Damao, I fell in love with it after watching the trailer back in March. If you hate Harry Potter, ecchi, magical powers, half naked women, demons, lords, comedy, and big chested women; then you'll hate Ichiban Ushiro no Damao

Edit: Just realized that I  posted under wrong section... can someone move?

Ideas & Suggestions / Poke' school?
« on: April 05, 2010, 03:06:03 pm »
Ive recently relapsed from mi anime addiction and had an unhealthy dose of anime this week, due to spring break. And anyone thats had an opportunity to look at any decent subbed/dubbed anime is aware of the Japanese's over the top study of a certain "games" portrayed in anime. Whether it is a children's card game (Yu-gi-oh, bakugan, duel master), Intense study/practice of board games (Hikaru no Go, Saki, etc) or an other worldly obssession of caring for fictitious monsters and setting up an academy (Pokemon anime, monster rancher, etc)

I figured that something similar can be done with Pokemon Universe as well.

A University for NPC Pokemon trainers?

Yes. why not?

Im unsure to if the PU team is finished laying out the first Island. And from what I've seen, the first island is pretty big. Big enough to house a school, possibly.  :o

I'm currently on the fence in having One Huge University, designated for the latter part of the game but one has to wonder where the heck are these kids coming from? Just as in real life, there is a process in reaching the status of University student.

So possibly adding several stages of pokemon academies throughout the region (primary, elementary, junior high, Prep, etc) would provide a challenge for all players in all areas.

Of course, the difficulty would increase as one advances. Not just one or two NPCs, but mayb 10-15 with a few professors mixed in as challengers/bosses.

Im aware that there were tiny 3x3 schools in the the handhelds but Im proposing huge school buildings with several classrooms and corridors

Im aware that a network of schools that specialize in the training and battling of poke's would be a stretch but it would provide necessary training and a challenge for all that wishes to become the best. Because it's a school, beaten NPC's could possible provide secrets about the relatively unknown region of Myrius or obscure to random (useful) facts about pokemon in general.

Another point I'd like to make is that everyone is aware that, other than the workplace, the school can be the most controversial areas of our lives. The scandal, controversy, etc has the potential to create many quest settings as well that could spark an idea or two.

Just throwing it out there.

General Chat / Generation 5 vid.
« on: February 05, 2010, 11:58:34 pm »
I just got home and out of boredom re-read some of Kamaran's Development update. This inspired me to look for a few potential Generation 5 poke's that could possibly appear in the series.

Not sure if these poke's are official.

But these dont look all too fake.

Ideas & Suggestions / Survival minigame
« on: February 02, 2010, 02:00:09 am »
I believe that the idea of mini-games was brought up a few weeks back.

I was just thinking if maybe the PU team could implement some sort of Survival mode mini-game.

Like in all "combat related games" (eg. tekken, Capcom Vs., etc) there is a survival mode in which a player chooses a character and battles every character in the game until he/she has defeated them.  After completing Survival mode, the player is given a reward or has unlocked something cool.

I was thinking that maybe this can be done in PU as well. ( I know the PU team is annoyed by all of the sggestions that are ripped straight out of other games but I think that this would be interesting, if implemented)

I understand that nothing has been established but implementing something like this would be great (imho)

Here's how it would go:

A player enters the mini-game area and challenges the unknown NPC. The player is only limited to the 6 poke's and whatever potions that he/she has in the inventory.

The player must go through the entire arsenal of poke's that the unknown NPC has (about 20-25; maybe more).  Defeating the unknown NPC would be rewarded by experience, maybe a poke' ball or two, a fishing rod (perhaps), or even potions.

Its very simple and it would be a ton of fun.

Once the 2 vs 2 battle system is up and running, a 2v2 survival mode would be cool as well.

Just throwing it out there.

Ideas & Suggestions / An Event idea
« on: January 26, 2010, 12:15:23 am »
Alright PU Team, you've forced me to go home and get mi brother's copy of Pokemon Ruby. After an exhausting day of Ruby I was begged by a friend to play Runescape. I logged in (for the first time in a couple of months) and found that I had a lvl 3 clue scroll that hadnt even been started and I was also asked to help with this weeks's Penguin hide and seek.

If you know what a clue scroll and the penguin hide and seek thing is, then i think you get mi drift.

Summary of clue scroll/Penguin Hide and seek will be posted at the bottom of this post.

On to the suggestion:

Im sure we've all noticed the random boards and signs in every town in the GBA games (trainer tips or something like that). Im sure that its safe to say that the tips would be unnecessary in the MMO.  ( unless you all feel the need for them)

I thought that maybe the PU team could use that signs as a miniquest in way. Once a week or every other week, a sign in every town gives a different hint to a random location or a TM or HM chest.

Just as in the anime, Ash and gang is constantly side-tracked by side missions/explorations.

These signs/boards would lead to a series of other signs that give directions, specific locations, hints, clues, and riddles that would lead to a hidden chest filled with items such as TMs, HMs, Pokeballs, Potions, Lotto tix, etc.

To make things fair, these signs would be random and only for a specific set of players/Guild in a given period of time.

Each player would be given 3 game days (24 hours) to complete the task.

These would be completely optional and possibly weekly/bi-weekly

I guess this would be considered an event of sorts. Something to stray from the norm.

I think that having something like this would be great. It would promote exploration into areas that were once "too dangerous" or "too far away".

Just like in any game, a player gets set in his/her ways and sometimes things can get a little repetitve. Making something like this  random puts more exploration in the game and promotes more of a reason to explore.

Explanation of Clue Scroll:

After fighting a particlar monster, they are bound to drop an item called a clue scroll. These scrolls are rare and only one can be held in a player's possession at a time. These scrolls are ranked from levels 1-3. The higher the level, the more difficult the task will be.

Level 1 scrolls range from tasks like, Go to a certain bank and wear a hat while waving. Then you would be directed , by another scroll to another task like killing 5 goblins.
You would be given a scroll until you are finished. AT times the reward can be dug up from the earth, using a spade or simply found in a chest in broad daylight (but only the player thats completed the scroll can see it.

Explanation of Penguin Hide And Seek:

This is a multiplayer event to where a quest, in the game, unlocks the ability to spy on penguins. In Runescape, there are several worlds to where clans/groups are formed to spy on all 12 Penguins (and a recently added polar Bear). teamwork is used and unlike the clue scrolls, everyone is able to see the penguins. Points are allocated to the location of the peguin. Like if a penguin is found in a starter city, its only worth One Point but if a penguin is found deeper into the game like Moonclan Island (or tougher location) then 2 points are awarded. The max points gained in a week is 15 and they are traded in for Exp and or Money.

I hope that this idea isnt totally ridiculous.

I think that a combination of events can be done like this. I was just offeringan idea.

Would something like this be do~able?

Ideas & Suggestions / PU Music
« on: January 20, 2010, 10:54:54 pm »
Just heard some of the music from Hiteryan's Mispace.

Pretty good.  Managed to listen to it all in one sitting and got to the last piece. It was a sample from PU... #5 i believe.

I was wondering if there would be a feature in the Beta that would allow us to loop our favorite town/route's music?

And later, maybe add a favorite's tab for those days you just want to lay around, plug in the speakers, and listen to music.

I was also curious to know if, other than #5, would there be any other pieces on Hiteryan's mispace that makes it to the game?

Would there be a way to sample the music before the beta is released?

Ideas & Suggestions / Screenshots to go with the weekly updates
« on: January 08, 2010, 09:51:26 pm »
I guess, because ive spent so much time in the ideas/suggestions thread, I hadnt noticed the development thread till earlier today.

This isnt a "troll" post or a post meant to annoy the PU team, but I was curious to know if it was possible to include, at least, one screenshot along with Kamaran's weekly development update.

I think that one screenshot, weekly, would be great for the fanbase. It would inspire hope for a new and great game.

Possibly spark a few new ideas in the forum.

Just throwing it out there.

I know someone's bound to shoot me down. :(

Game Features / Poke' stats?
« on: January 04, 2010, 08:26:12 pm »
Ive only been visiting this site since yesterday, so Im unfamiliar with topics from the other website I read about.

But I was wondering if there would be a Leaderboard (for the beta/finished versions)

Also, I think that it would be cool if one could view  another  players' starting six pokemon via player's profile.

Are there any plans for that?
