Trainers Lounge / Re: do you always let your pokemon evolve?
« on: May 31, 2011, 12:43:50 AM »
I usually let pokemon evolve, for the simple reason of making them stronger. However, sometimes it is best to prevent evolution, in the case of the Evolution Stone in b/w (yes, capitals are needed to distinguish it from evolutionary stones). A boost in defense and sp defense by 50% is very handy for a number of pre-evolutions, sometimes making them more powerful defensively than their fully-evolved counterparts. Chansey, rhydon and porygon-2 are some of these. In rhydon's case, while not carrying as much attacking power as rhyperior, the Evolution Stone and sanstorm support DOUBLES its special defense (and increases that crazy physical defense stat to 150%)

If pokemon became real, I'd never pay for gas again.  I'd just ride my Charizard everywhere.  But, lets be real here.  Pokemon becoming real would make for the strangest arms race in history. I can see it now.  WW3 would be caused by nations fighting to control legendary pokemon.  Overall i'm not sure if pokemon becoming real would be a good thing or not but, I would get a chance to have my own Charizard.

Agreed. The uncontollable ones such as mewtwo would most likely be placed in maximum security prison-labs for intense scientific study (as already mentioned), in order for nations to locate the source of their power. New firearms and explosives may be manufactured using bio-technology obtained from potent pokemon. The USA, EU, etc against China, North Korea, Russia. But the rifts between countries at the moment seem too small to instigate an all-out world war. It would more closely resemble the Cold War, more covert, the main powers attempting to rope in allies to fight for them, etc.

It wouldn't change our society much at all. Most developed countries have a market-based economy i.e. people would still have to work. Pokemon would be treat similarly to animals, once they were brought under control and domesticated, but I reckon most would be exterminated (especially the more dangerous ones, which is like, 96% of them) before that happens. World leaders do not play pokemon games. A few fringe groups may emerge in an effort to save the pokemon, but they would be declared quasi-terrorist organisations. The few surviving species would be relocated to zoos, where they would live out the rest of their days.
Yes, you could call me a pessimist when it comes to 'real-life' pokemon, but real-life people are not like those NPCs. Sure, some may accept and welcome their existance, but with government red-tape, safety restrictions, a perceived health risk, etc you just know it ain't gonna happen.
This is a good question, though. Thanks for asking it.  :)

Then suddenly, he realises that he was not simply in a dream...
HE WAS IN THE DREAM OF OLD MAN HERBERT! (Inception style ftw)
He remembered that his body in the real world was about to be annihilated by judgement day 2011, and he was attempting to prevent it from happening by entering old man Herbert's dream! He had to find the center of the Earth and deactivate the nuclear warhead that the pokegods had placed there!

EDIT: Righto, I sense I went a little too far there...oh well  :P

A zubat of any level would make this quest far too easy, I suggest setting level requirements for graveller too? Geodude are incredibly easy to find in most pokemon games, and it evolves at lvl 25, so how about putting it at lvl 25?

Just a nitpick concerning the dialog...

"What brings you here. Young one?"
1."Traveling"
2."Training"
3."Nothing." She does not say another word and you leave her there.

How old is this lady? Seems like in her 50s or 60s by the use of 'young one' and the slightly stalkerish question, but the fact she's out and about having this little competion with her brother seems odd. May I suggest changing the two first questions into one extended question, such as:
"Oh, why hello there, trainer! Am I glad to see you! You look like you can handle yourself well...mind doing me a favour?"
Everthing else is fine in my opinion, including everything in part 2. Just seems a little patronisng toward the player, especially if they are playing as a middle-aged man.

I agree with there being too many fire/fighting starters, so I want a fire/poison to kick their asses with (would say fire/psychic, but victini exists...) One that note, I want new (good) poison pokemon that are actually decent. More powerful and viable poison attacks should be created to help all the existing and forgotton poison pokemon.
Bugs should not carry on the tradition of being early-game starter-fodder and pose a genuine threat. They made a decent start of this in black/white, but still mediore bug/flying types are being made and left in storage by the player throughout the course of the game :(.

Oh, and there has to be an evolution of sableye, my fav.

Saying batman would be far too obvious, so I'm going with hellboy.

glaceon doen't have the base speed required to be a sweeper.

Ahh sorry, I meant revenge-killer, or anti sweeper. Give it a scarf, kill something slower, then switch (unless my opponent doesn't have any fast counter, in which case, WOOT!)
