Games / Re: What's you LEAST favorite Gym is any Pokemon game?
« on: January 17, 2011, 01:00:27 AM »
Is that the one where you had to ice skate? If so, than I concur. Any place the forces me to partake in ice skating should burn to the ground. On a another note, while were on the topic of gyms...

Good job, getting on the team Mr. P!

Purple = Donated....
Green = Team member
Blue = Mod
Red = Admin
Yellow = a Nobody

Memorize it.

No, yellow is an indicator of Frenchfry's Legions of Terror.

If this was facebook and I could like this, I would like this.

I think Slaking is the most baller pokemon ever. He has the ability to be one of the best pokemon ever but basically he just chooses to half-a** everything. A real role model :D

I like most everything, but my favorite genres are metal and all kinds of electronic.

I like everything really. Although I was a house DJ for awhile so I do hold a certain affinity for that kind of music. If anyone is interested in my sets, I still have a couple on soundcloud.

You can download them for free. I even have set that mixes a lot of the songs from the game pixeljunk Eden if anyone's ever played that.

I like the mixes you have up. I've looked into being a DJ, but I really have no idea where to start :-\.

It depends on how you wanna do it. If you want to DJ with real turntables/CDJs, obviously you have to first buy a DJ setup which can cost a pretty penny. Then you have to learn how to beat match by ear which takes a lot of practice. The other way which you can do it is through your computer, which is much easier. All of the DJ programs for the computer will beat match the songs for you, so you can start practicing on set structure and song selection right away, which is how you control the crowd.

The simplest DJ program to get would be Virtual DJ. There are others that are more advanced, like Traktor and Abelton (which is like the hardest thing for me to figure out ever), but Virtual DJ does the job well enough. Once you get the program, pick a genre of electronic dance music you really like (Trance, House, Dubstep, Drum n' Bass etc.) and start building up your music collection around that genre.

As far as working on your technical skills, this guy

http://www.youtube.com/user/ellaskins#g/u

is really wonderful. He's a DJ tutor and he can teach you what to do and how to do it. Look at his early videos to get information on how to blend tunes, set and song structure, and how to use the EQ as these will probably be the most important things you want to know.

This should get going in the right direction. If you have any more questions, please ask  :)

Ideas & Suggestions / Re: Gym battles
« on: January 15, 2011, 06:19:51 PM »
I think some sort of system that would calibrate the gym leader's overall pokemon level in comparison to yours would be a good way of keeping it challenging.

On a side note, I hope that the player would be able to get involved more with the gyms than in mainstream pokemon games. The gyms were always one of my favorite parts in pokemon and if each gym had a quest line or something along that area, that would be pretty awesome.

Ghost in the Shell is awesome and I love Venture Bros. On a side note, has anyone seen Perfect Hair Forever on adult swim? There's only like 7 short episodes but that was the funniest show ever, especially the character Uncle Grandpa.

Pretty much all the really big caves made me want to punch my gameboy in the face, although the caves where there were legendary pokemon lurking somewhere within them usually turned out to be pretty cool.

I want to start a guild called the Wu-Tang Clan and have it become the most a** kicking and notorious guild ever. When a grown man cries at the mere mention of this guild's name...my objective will be achieved.

News & Announcements / Re: Name The Professor Competition (Part 2)
« on: January 14, 2011, 08:49:25 AM »
As a youth, Professor Alder was regarded as one of the most promising trainers of his time. It is said that he had never lost a battle and that his pokemon fought with a level of devotion and intensity that was unparalleled. However, as the bond between him and his pokemon grew stronger, Alder eventually reconsidered his position as a trainer. He wanted to truly understand pokemon and so he decided to devote the remainder of his life to their research.

Now, Professor Alder is one the most respected and well-known figures in the pokémon research community. He can be quite eccentric at times, but few come close to understanding pokemon as extensively as he does. Alder's ceaseless pursuit of knowledge has lead him to the Miryus Region where he continues to teach and inspire others to learn about pokemon.

I realize this doesn't include any reference to a signature pokemon but honestly there wasn't a way for me to allude to one without sacrificing the bio's flow and conciseness. If it is really necessary to name one, Prof. Alder's signature will be...
