In-Forum Games / [Game] Pokemon Battle
« on: June 29, 2010, 03:16:26 PM »
Well.. The type of game is pretty self explanatory, so here are the rules.

-Pick any Non Uber from Generation 1-4
-Give it a moveset-but it must be able to obtain that moveset without TMs/HMs
-Name it if you want
-Battle other players

Here are the rules for battles:
-Use the base stats provided here (Search your Pokemon on the search bar, the stats are on the bottom
-Pick an attack-The player with the higher speed goes first
-Damage is dealt as follows: (Will be revised if there are problems) Pokemon 1's HP x 2 - Pokemon 2's Atk/Sp. Atk / 10 x Move Power/10 - Pokemon 1's Def/Sp. Def / 5  When Pokemon 2 is attacking.

In other words: When Pokemon 2 attacks, the attack power is Pokemon 2's base attack power or special attack power divided by 10, times the moves base power divided by 10. Then, subtract Pokemon 1's Defense - divided by 5 - from the attacks power. Subtract the final product from the defender's base HP times 2.

Example:
Togekiss uses Air Slash on Gardevoir
Togekiss' Attack is 50. 50/10 = 5
Air slash's power is 75. 75/10 = 7.5
7.5 x 5 =37.5
Gardevoirs Defense is 65. 65/5 = 13
37.5 - 13 = 24.5
The attack deals 24.5 damage to Gardevoir.
Gardevoir's HP drops from 136 to 111.5.

Status effects work as follows:
Poison/Burn: 10 damage every turn
Paralysis: 30% chance of not moving
Sleep/Freeze: Lasts 2 turns
Confuse: 50% chance of hitting self for 15 damage

For percents:
Find your post number (on this thread)
If your post is the... 3rd, then find the 3rd random digit.

For confusion:
If the digit is anywhere between 1 and 5, your Pokemon takes its action like normal. If it is 5-9 or 0, your Pokemon does 15 damage to itself.

For Paralysis:
If the digit is anywhere from 1-7, your Pokemon carries out its move like normal. If it is 8, 9, or 0, your Pokemon doesn't move.

Random Digits:
4   2   2   5   1
2   3   8   8   5
3   5   5   1   0
0   9   0   4   9
1   9   7   8   6
3   1   6   6   8
5   3   9   7   7
6   8   7   0   0
8   8   5   0   6
6   5   3   6   7
9   3   4   9   2
2   2   3   0   2
2   5   2   6   2
3   7   9   0   4
2   3   5   2   5
3   0   8   3   0
2   0   8   9   1
7   0   9   3   5
1   0   3   6   3
6   4   5   2   3

For Buff/Debuff moves (like howl, swords dance, etc.):
-Each move boosting attack/sp.atk grants 10 more damage after all of the math is done.
-Each move boosting def/sp. def grants 10 more damaged reduced when the opponent attacks.
-If the move lowers a stat, it just has the reverse effect. An attack cannot do negative damage!
-If the effect has the word Sharply increases/decreases, the effect is doubled.

Additional Notes:
-Don't Cheat! If you are caught cheating, you will automatically lose the fight.
-If a person does not post for 3 days during a fight, they automatically lose.
-You may switch Pokemon, but only after battles.
-There are super effective hits, no hits, and not very effective hits. These are either 2x, 4x, .5x, .25x, or 0x the normal hit. Use type advantages to figure it out.

Money and Bounty:

The money system will be based on winning battles against other players. Each Pokemon will have a bounty on them, which is the money you get from beating that Pokemon. A Pokemon's bounty may increase or decrease depending on the result of the battle. If a Pokemon wins a battle, it gains 25 bounty, and if it loses, it loses 10. Each Pokemon's bounty starts at 50, and can reach a maximum of 300. Bounty may not go below 10. So, if you win a battle, your Pokemon gains 25 bounty and you gain the amount of the other Pokemon's bounty.

Example:
Player 1 has an Absol with 150 bounty. It beats player 2's Alakazam, which has 100 bounty. Absol's bounty is now 175 and Alakazam's is 90. Player one gains 100 money.

In-Forum Games / [Game] Type with your ???
« on: May 31, 2010, 04:33:04 PM »
In this game, you may use any appropriate body part or object to type a message. Under that message, you type what the message actually was, and what you typed it with.
Sounds simple, right?

Example 1:
hekki guyd, whsat;s uo

Hello guys, what's up, typed with my nose.

Example 2:
mnhoesd iytnghondh

How's it going, typed with a mouse pad

You may also do things like this:
Example 3:
im diingvj

I'm doing fine, typed with a pencil held in my mouth

Or this:
Example 4:
hi j  x jnd hd

This is example four, typed with a paint brush and my eyes closed.

====================================================

Feel free to get as crazy as you want, just as long as it is appropriate!

Don't hurt yourself, I don't want to be responsible for it!

Quests & Plots / Quest Grading System (Post Quests Here)
« on: May 05, 2010, 09:21:13 PM »
I used the search bar, and found nothing like this, and decided to make it. Basically, I've made a rubric to grade quests on, and give feedback on what you should improve. This is mainly so that people don't make garbage quests, and so that they won't get responses like "It sucks" or "TERRIBLE!!" These don't tell you anything at all! You must know what you need to improve on before you go off writing new ones. I designed this rubric based on previous rubrics I have seen, but feel free to tell me if I need to change or add anything to it.

Be sure to read spirit's guide to writing quests before posting any here. Anyone can grade them, just be serious about it, and give them feedback in a non-insulting way. (Remember, you want people to write more quests)

Anyways, here is the rubric (3s are in between a 4 and a 2, a 1 is in between a 2 and 0):

Understandable:
4-The quest is easily understood and makes sense
2-The quest is mostly understood and makes sense for the most part
0-The quest cannot be understood and does not make sense

Edited: Storyline
4-The quest maintains a steady, easy to follow storyline
2-The quest mainly maintains a steady storyline, but is somewhat jumpy and hard to follow
0-The quest does not maintain a steady storyline and is very jumpy and can't be followed

Ideas:
4-The ideas in the quest are original and interesting
2-The ideas in the quest are mostly original and somewhat interesting
0-The ideas in the quest are not original and not interesting

Length:
4-The quest is neither very long or very short, keeps player entertained without boring them
2-The quest is a little too long or short, may bore the player somewhat but for the most part is an okay length
0-The quest is very long or short, and player is bored

Practicality:
4-The quest is practical, and the story is reasonable
2-The quest is somewhat practical, and the story is mostly reasonable
0-The quest is not practical, the story is not reasonable

EDIT:
Lesser Criteria:

Details
2-The quest has enough details to be interesting, yet not too many to be confusing or too little to be boring.
1-The quest has either a little too many details or too little.
0-The quest has either way too many jumbled details or nearly no details

Reward:
2-The reward for the quest is a good representation of the difficulty of the quest
1-The reward for the quest is either not enough to get people to do the quest or too good for the quest's difficulty
0-The reward is not incorporated, not at all realistic, or not incorporated in PU (i.e. a legendary Pokemon)

Copy this for grading quests (Write score for each criteria after the dash)

Ideas & Suggestions / Money Trading (Auction House)
« on: April 02, 2010, 02:26:11 PM »
In the game, will you be able to trade money to other players? Or will it be like the other Pokemon games, where you can only trade Pokemon and items.

Quests & Plots / My Quest Idea
« on: March 31, 2010, 07:21:17 PM »
Start Location: A Pokemon Lab
Your character walks into a Pokemon Lab, and immediately a scientist rushes into him/her yelling "Help! We need Help!" in a rush to get out. Being a curious avatar, you walk towards what the scientist was running away from, only to find a Charizard has gotten loose and is angry. Fire is spewing from its mouth all around. Another scientist stands frozen with fear, staring at the Pokemon. When talked to, she responds "... ... ... eep..." Your brave adventurer then proceeds towards the rampaging Pokemon. You battle with the Charizard, however, you cannot catch it. After you KO it, a cut scene shows it running away, out of the Lab. The scientist who ran out returns and talks to you. He tells you that he was conducting a relatively safe experiment on his prized Charmelion. Then something went horribly wrong, a member of an organization called Torchlight (can be changed) Came in and taunted the Pokemon. The Charmelion moved away from the experiment and hit the glass case it was in. At this, it got angry and suddenly evolved into Charizard. The Pokemon then broke the glass and lit the lab on fire. In terror, the scientist left to go for help. He tells you that you must return his Pokemon to him and eliminate whoever did this to it. He says he saw his Pokemon head to ? (I don't know where, so you can come up with the name) He hands you a special lab ball that will catch the Charizard without fail. However, when you reach the place, there is a tunnel you must enter. In the tunnel are members of Torchlight. After battling a few of them, you reach the leader, a Fire Juggler named Boswell. He tells you that he knows nothing of the Charizard, and a battle ensues. His last Pokemon is a Charizard. When he sends it in, something comes up that says, "it looks familiar.." You then use the Lab ball on it to catch it (It's not stealing if you steal from someone who stole it in the first place =^D) Boswell gets angry and storms off. After returning to the scientist and giving him the Charizard, the quest is complete.
Hope you liked my idea!
I'm not sure if this is the type of quest you are looking for

General Chat / [Poll] Best Legendary
« on: March 31, 2010, 04:05:15 PM »
Here is a poll I decided to make, not realizing that there were actually 35 legendarys that I had to remember...
Well, I searched, and there wasn't a poll of this, so I made it. I think I put all of them on there, but let me know if I am wrong. Please don't base your 2 votes on what other people didn't vote for or what they did. Vote for YOUR favorite legendary(s) only!

I'm voting for Zapdos and Lugia!

Other Entertainment / [TV-Show] The Big Bang Theory
« on: March 31, 2010, 01:21:48 PM »
I'm sure that there are at least some fans of this show out there! Well, here's a thread so that you can talk about it.

For those of you who don't watch The Big Bang Theory, this is pretty much what it is about:
-2 nerds, Super Physicist Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter share an apartment.
-They have two friends, Creepy Howard Walowitz and Girlafobic Raj Koothrapoli.
-All of them are scientists.
-A rather attractive woman moves in across the hall from them.
-While Sheldon has no interest in women, or any social activities for that matter, Leonard falls in love with her.
-The unlikely combination of personalities makes the show hilarious
