Ideas & Suggestions / Re: Team/Guild and Events Suggestion
« on: April 20, 2010, 09:51:38 AM »
Hey,

1)  I have played Poke'net and Pokemon Cyrus and Pokemon Destiny.  One thing they all have in common is a section in the forums for Teams or guilds.  In this section members can create there own teams/guilds and other members can apply to join these teams.  Joining teams/guilds to some members may be open to everyone or in some cases there pokemon teams have to fill certain requirements such as having so many badges or being a certain level with your pokemon.  This adds competition between teams/guilds.  Teams/guilds can create events to battle against each other for team/guild pride or for certain prizes (pokemon/money etc.).  Maybe, a ranking system can be added so teams/guilds know how they rank against others.

Also, Dev's can create there own events possibly and offer prizes to winners such as money or a prize rare pokemon to each of the team/guild members.

There is going to be a Guilds feature implemented into the game. Everything you talked about, except for the Guild creating an event, has also been talked about being included. So, you can do that in-game rather than on the forum.

Quote

2)  I've never seen this in a pokemon MMO before.  But a individual Ranking section can be added so players know how they rank up against each other.  This would be based upon PVP battle record and Events won.  This would mean that a separate forum section would need to be added for individual event competitions.  In this section individual users can create there own events where they battle against each other.  Awards would be that of money where each player has to put down a entry money fee and winners would receive the total pot.  A second type of award would be that of players awarding a uncommon pokemon as a prize or possible with permission a very rare pokemon can be added as the main prize to the event.  This would be more rare than the pokemon that teams could win in team events.

p.s.  If accepted as a suggestion.  A forum thread should be added so players can begin creating there own teams and allowing members to join.  This would create a hype of competitiveness before the release of the public beta version.

1. There is already going to be a PvP ranking system; it will be posted on the site so that you will know how you rank in the game versus other players.
2. The events will be included in the ranking system, a long with quite a few other stats I am told.

There is a search function on the site; use it and you can find all the information you need about PU.

- Have a nice day.

I think we should rename this game to "Pokemon Swedish-Universe... Anyone with me? ...
no? Damn it!

Woah, back up. I'm with you on that one. I say we do it.

Also, welcome to all the new trainers joining the site. I hope you have fun at PU.

Games / Re: Things about the Pokemon Games you hated
« on: April 19, 2010, 01:19:06 AM »
The only thing I've grown to hate about the game is the necessity of the HM's. In the first two games, it was a cute thing to have. It made your Pokemon feel like part of the team; they were useful and fun to use outside of battle. Now, however, it just annoys me having to haul them around with me. Generally, they have almost no worth in battle (re: Flash, etc.)

I think that the HM system has just grown outdated. All the new features make the game fun, exciting, and fresh; while every time I pick up an HM, all I can think is, "Great. Now I have alter a moveset to fit this on or I have to start carrying around an HM user again."

Trainers Lounge / Re: What Are Your Goals On Pokemon Universe?
« on: April 19, 2010, 01:01:36 AM »
In-game: My goals will be the exact same as they are in most Pokemon games; have fun. In most MMO's, I enjoy just wandering around, seeing where things are and experiencing the game. I'm sure by time I get used to the game, I'll want to start playing competitively. Until then, however, I'm content to just relax and enjoy the game.

Out-of-game: In the forums and elsewhere, I'd like to help the community out. Honestly, I'm a bit enamored with the project since I've helped out on a few other Pokemon sites and this really piques my interest. So, if I can do anything from fleshing ideas out to eventually submitting content from the game, I'll happily do so.

Trainers Lounge / Re: Your Starter Pokemon

For me, it's a toss up: I like Chimchar, Turtwig, and Squirtle. Torterra is my favorite grass starter, I love Infernape's move pool, and Squirtle has been my favorite water since day one.

I read up to page 5; so, if this has been mentioned, forgive me.

However, the idea I had for transportation borrows from a few other games. I'm not saying that it should be a direct replica, but if it works, it works, you know? For flying, I do agree that it would detract from the overall game experience. Being able to fly between towns on the fly would make the game short, even with an abundance of content. So, instead, why not move along the lines of World of Warcraft and make it so that flying can happen between preset points. You would have to meet up with whoever was stationed at both of those points and pay to fly between them. That way, you would still have to travel everywhere on foot. It would just be more convenient for players who have already explored the land. The price would keep it from being abused, as well.

Ideas & Suggestions / Re: Naming Pokemon?
« on: April 18, 2010, 12:20:38 AM »
I personally love nicknaming my Pokemon; it adds a whole new layer of depth when playing. However, as stated before, people would easily abuse that feature and use inappropriate names and profanity.

The problem still plagues many MMO's. I would love to have the option, but realistically, I don't see it being implemented.

Jobs / Looking to get into the process.
« on: April 17, 2010, 09:48:49 AM »
To be quite frank, the only experience I have with pixel art is Pokemon Fusions, Pokemon Splices, custom made Trainer Cards and Battle Scenes. I have yet to do anything involving maps, though I suppose I have done a few overworld sprites for Trainers and Pokemon before when experimenting.

To make a long story short; I am really interested in contributing to this project. I was wondering if there was a guide line for what you need? I would also love to learn how to do areas and environments, if anyone can point me in the right direction for that. Not to sound weird, but I've been lurking this board for a few weeks now and just decided to join. So, I suppose my "pokethusiam" is relatively high right now.

I don't think I currently have the skill to actually apply for a position, so that's why I'm bringing this up like this. I can also link to some of the stuff I've done previously, if that would help.

Thanks in advance.

New Trainers / Welcome / New and looking forward to it.

So, I found this through Google by searching "Pokemon MMO." I remember playing one a while back and was hoping to find it again.

Instead, I found something better; something that excited me. I've browsed the forums and the entire site already and I have to say that I'm quite excited by this project. I look forward to playing it, participating in the community (which looks warm and welcoming), and doing anything I can to help.
