My take on this :)

Bio:

Prof Alder is the resident professor of Miryus who studies the origins of pokemon. Unlike most of his colleagues, he was a person not interested at all in pokemon but in genetics. He however did studies about pokemon and one day, his life changed. He learned that there was one pokemon known as Mew which had a very particular genetic code dissimilar to any other pokemon and which was never really studied, only by a scientist now deceased after an accident. On his journey to find Mew, he joined explorers to a land named Miryus. Rumours say that this land was found by a sailor trying to follow Mew. After some years of living there, he succeeded in seeing Mew once, but had yet to study it.

Prof Alder now has his own lab where he gives away starter pokemon to new trainers on Miryus, hoping they will somehow help him. With his companion Ditto, he is still trying to locate Mew through this huge land of Miryus and at the same time, tries to understand how pokemon were created through Mew. He is persuaded that the answer he is looking for is on Miryus, for unlike other regions, Miryus is the only one where all the pokemon from other regions can be found together. Trainers can often see him once in a while in the wild examining the area in search of Mew and he will occasionally accept a pokemon match with the pokemon he got on Miryus.
No one can go back and change a bad beginning; but anyone can start now and create a successful ending.
If a problem can be solved, no need to worry about it. If it cannot be solved what is the use of worrying?

Currently playing Pokemon XY/ORAS/Shuffle and Clash of Clans and testing out PokemonRevolutionOnline and Dragonmon Hunter....

As a youth, Professor Alder was regarded as one of the most promising trainers of his time. It is said that he had never lost a battle and that his pokemon fought with a level of devotion and intensity that was unparalleled. However, as the bond between him and his pokemon grew stronger, Alder eventually reconsidered his position as a trainer. He wanted to truly understand pokemon and so he decided to devote the remainder of his life to their research.

Now, Professor Alder is one the most respected and well-known figures in the pokémon research community. He can be quite eccentric at times, but few come close to understanding pokemon as extensively as he does. Alder's ceaseless pursuit of knowledge has lead him to the Miryus Region where he continues to teach and inspire others to learn about pokemon.

I realize this doesn't include any reference to a signature pokemon but honestly there wasn't a way for me to allude to one without sacrificing the bio's flow and conciseness. If it is really necessary to name one, Prof. Alder's signature will be...
