The amount of hate on Gen 5 pokés leaves my perplexed.

You're not the only one, John.  ???

I actually found a rather interesting comic that explores what general reactions would be if Gen 1 and Gen 5 were switched.
You ask why the Old Chateau, I ask what better place to study ghost Pokemon.

:< Eh? I actually loved Gen 5.... It was much more interesting than 3 or 4 to say the least. And the overall pokemon design was for the most part better in my opinion than in the previous 2 gens.... 'cept for Vullaby/Mandibuzz and Ice Cream Trio, but I'm sure even they could have their useful/good points...

Anyway, thanks Ken Sugimori, Satoshi Taijiri, and everyone else involved for creating this series we can debate over. (No sarcasm intended! ^ ^)

I don't care what any of you say, those Ice Cream Pokemon are ridiculous! But to be honest, I really never cared much for Gen 2's Pokemon. Aside from the obvious favorites of the bunch (Starters, legendaries, etc.) they seemed sort of weak or not cool-looking enough to me. Didn't care for the majority of weaker Pokemon you encounter early on in Johto, which is why my team consisted of nearly all Kanto Pokemon. But Gen 5 wasn't all bad, albeit the new Pokemon seem a lot more cartoon-ish, there are always some gems.

BTW, Tajiri and Ken made my childhood awesome, so cheers to them! ;D

That is a very intruiging comic, altough i think the reason there is so much hate on gen 5 is due to the fact that it didnt seem as silly when we were kids, and now it just seems plain ridiculuos for some of them.

Here's the man who drew 1/5 of my thousand-large collection of Pokémon cards. Hats off to you sir. When I was a kid in elementary I knew your name and the names of all your fellow Pokémon artists.

That was a pretty funny comic, but I didn't really agree with the carbon copies bit. Cloyster does have Gastly's face, but that's it. It also has an entire shell built around it making it unique. Nidoqueen and Rhydon do look very very similar and I always thought that was sort of odd, but it was nice to have options and I'd rather have Rhyhorn evolve into that instead of a ... well a bigger rhino so-to-speak. But see the Genies aren't supposed to be compared to those Pokemon, because they're the "Legendary Trio" of Gen 5, right? Well Pokemon has been doing this trio carbon copy thing for a long time, ever since Gen 1 with the legendary birds. It just so happens that ever since about Gen 3, they've made the differences between them more and more subtle. Latios and Latias, anyone? How about the Legendary Golems? Each generation the differences become less obvious.
