[Quest] Ego Trip
« on: February 12, 2012, 05:45:11 am »
*hope i posted this in the right place*
Location: What ever city you get the 3rd badge in
Level: After you get the 3rd badge

Summery: This is a old fashioned battle quest. Your doing a girl a favor and bringing a guys mental image of himself back down to a reasonable level. The quest starter could be in the bottom lobby of an apartment building, the person you have to beat on the roof. There could be a few people living in the building that you can talk to on your way up. They could talk to you about the guys team. Maybe use this as a bit of a tutorial for learning to counter certain bothersome Pokemon.

Dialogue: (i'm not sure if your doing options or not)
Mizz: Hey there. Got a minute?
-Yeah sure (continue)
--Actually, no.

The word is your pretty good. With three badges how could you not be? Am I right? Yeah, I’m right. Any way I have a favor to ask.
-Ask Away
-- I don't really do favors

I have this friend, Brian’s his name. He thinks he is the best there is just because none of us who live here can beat him. He is so arrogant, its absolutely unbearable. It’s like he is constantly looking down on us... literally. He sits up there on the roof and brags nonstop about how he’s vastly superior. You have to help me out here. If he gives me another back handed complement or calls my Pokemon quaint one more time i’m going to hurt him… Just one loss should put an end to this god complex he’s developing. Can you do that for me?
-No problem
-- I don't really have the time.

Brian: Mizz sent you didn’t she? Just cant accept that I’m by far the best. You know, I don’t have to prove myself to you… but I will.

Mizz: you actually did it!? You won!
-You sound surprised

No. I’m not surprised. I totally had faith in you. Oh, actually I should give you some sort of reward shouldn’t I… This will do I suppose. It’s a TM called Low Sweep. The bigger they are the harder they fall right?

Reward: TM, Low Sweep (or one you find more suitable for the current level or what not), maybe the chance to check back with Mizz every now and then to see if she has anything new to teach one of your Pokemon. (Maybe on holidays she could offer to teach a Pokemon a move related to that holiday) Like a move tutor only without the cumbersome need to trade them some random item that is otherwise useless.

Other: I realize that another basic battle right after you beat the gym may seem a tad redundant but I think that teaching people how to counter a few troublesome Pokemon and deal with situations they present early on would be beneficial to the game. I didn't want to try and lay in stone what the team Brian has would be, but i think it should include some Pokemon that are rather tough and/or have a certain trick to beating them so people actually have to think a bit instead of just throwing their starter out there and spamming its strongest move.
Also I typed this up really quick so if I need to expand or clarify anything, and i expect i probably will seeing as this is fairly short. I am more then happy to. Also i realize this isn't really a long game changing story arch that is deeply though through. I just think something like this would be a good idea.
MY TEAM! Gotta love 'em.

I'd suggest that Brian runs a mono fire team.  Just sayin...

Also talk on PO suggests that Brian be unbeatable, on the other side of the map from where the quest is given (during the quest you can't use any form of fast travel).  And have the reward be a master ball.  The catch is, you can't win!

It'd be the most wonderful quest ever.

I wouldn't mind having a quest like that. It would somewhat be like in the original games where you sometimes battle a rival after beating a gym leader. :)
No one can go back and change a bad beginning; but anyone can start now and create a successful ending.
If a problem can be solved, no need to worry about it. If it cannot be solved what is the use of worrying?

Currently playing Pokemon XY/ORAS/Shuffle and Clash of Clans and testing out PokemonRevolutionOnline and Dragonmon Hunter....
