When you say start with absol do you mean that you want to lead with it?
If you do then I really don't recomend leading with it, its more of a come in on something it can force out kinda pokemon.

Anyway, yeah there are plenty of pokemon that can go well with absol.

Gengar - Immunity to Fighitng and 4x resistant to bug attacks. There are many builds for gengar and it does welll with most of them, just get in there and find one that best suits your play style and team composition.

Chandelure - Immunity to Fighting and 4x resistant to bug attacks + stab fire to kill said bug pokemon. Chandelure is a great pokemon because it has 3 immunities. Fire, Normal and Fighting. There is 2 builds that work okay with Chandelure, a bulky special def tank or the choice scarf sweeper.

Basically any fairy, ghost or flying type pokemon will be great to pair with absol as both types resist all of absols weaknesses. Flying of course has stab SE hit on both of absol weaknesses as well so thats something to think about.

When pairing a poke with another poke is important to know what your trying to do. When your leading with a dark type and want to have something to soak a SE hit for it then you can't very well have the pokemon you want to bring in be all frail and stuff unless it is immune to the attack that your predicting.

Like say if you were going to lead with Machamp and there's a flying type that's about to use Bravebird on it then you can't have Electrode as your safety net for Machamp. Electrode would take a ton of damage from a stab bravebird even though it's resisted.

What I'm trying to say if you want to pick something that can either take the hit and dish it back out or either something that completely immune like Gengar would be immune to fighting and 4x resist bug attacks.

Hopefully this helps ya.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I don't intend to use Absol as a lead, I just want to use it as a starting point for my team, and build around it.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll take a look at these and decide what to use.

No problem. I look forward to seeing your team. Feel free to post it here and I can do a quick overview of it like I have done in the previous posts. I quote it and write down suggestions in red. You can look in prevous guild thread posts and you may see a few.

So, Blades and I were talking on the balance server about a team with Spikes, T-Spikes, Sticky Web and either damaging weather(SS or Hail). A mono bug team would be able to pull this off but I think I'd rather make it a mixed team. Wish me luck! Should be fun.

There you go Ponge: link

Alright, I'm kind of hung up a little. I'm still overwhelmed by the choices. I managed to get half a team, but I'm not sure what would compliment these pokemon well. Right now, I have Absol as a physical sweeper, Gengar as a special sweeper, and Sylveon as a special wall (I guess it could be used a support too. It's pretty versatile from what I've read). I'm not sure what I should use for the rest of the spots though. I need a lead, a physical wall, and a support. Any suggestions?

Hmm, I'd make Sylveon a special wall/support because it just does so well at it.

I'd prolly go for a physical tank over a physical wall as you don't want too many walls and a tank will take almost as least amount of damage as a physical wall but will do A LOT more damage. Long as you know the difference between Walls and Tanks.
Physical Tanks:
Scizor
Crustle
Armaldo
Dewgong
Rhydon
Tyrantrum
Tyranitar
Swampert
to name just a few

Leads - theres so many different leads I don't even know what to begin to suggest to you until you tell me what kind of a lead do you want.

A support lead(lay spikes, use weather, set trick room, etc.) Bronzong, Mr Mime, Girafarig,
Lead breaker(Prevents other leads from doing their own little thing via taunt, cripple, or just good ol' over powering it)Machamp, Conkledur, sableye, whimsicott
Set up lead(Start off strong with a bulky setup sweeper like Dance D-nite) D-nite, Scizor, Rhydon
Scout lead(Scout with u-turn/volt switch) Crobat, Emolga, Magnezone, Beedrill

**A Wall is a pokemon that mainly either soaks special hits or physical hits. It will often be fully EV invested in HP and Defense (For a Defensive Wall) or HP and Special Defense (For a Specially Defensive Wall).

**A tank is a pokemon that is able to take a hit but usually lacks a recover but hits back really hard after soaking a hit. It will often be fully EV invested in HP and Attack if its a physical tank or HP and SP Attack if its a Special Tank.

Thanks again, Roloc. I had actually completely forgotten about tanks, it's probably a good thing you caught that.

I'll start doing my research, and decide on what kind of lead I want. They all look like they would be pretty useful. I might have a better idea when I have the rest of my team assembled, so I'll probably be back here again before long.

- Surf
- Dark Pulse Grass Knot - Having grass knot allows you to cover your water weakness, if you know a t-bolt is coming, switch to grass to soak it.
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Fire] Change this to HP Ghost - It allows you to cover your dark weaknesses, ghost is immune to fighting and it resists bug.

Electivire (M) @ Expert Belt
Trait: Motor Drive
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)

Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Focus Blast Dazzling Gleam - Now that Gengar has dazzling gleam, there is no reason to use focus blast anymore. Steel no longer resists ghost either.
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Psychic Sludge Wave - No reason to not have your two stabs.

Infernape (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Iron Fist

To be honest it doesn't matter if it is a wal or tank as long as it can take a few hits.idk which would be better for my team a wall or a tank so its your call.and please also tell me  which pokemon should i kick out of my team.About Gengar,i already gave him sludge wave and dazzling gleam just forgot to update it here.
thanks.
