Two years after my fortune was set in stone, I realized I should have been more careful. My curse was far stronger than I first thought. I was playing Basketball with a friend of mine.
"C'mon Kara, no fair!"
"You're just upset cause Im beating you, Julie."
"Yeah, Right."
I Shot, and it bounced off the corner of the Rim and Backboard. Julie headed for where she expected the ball to land.
"Julie, Watch out!"
I was too late, The ball Hit her back, Just above her waist. I swear, I could hear her spine shatter.
"Jules, you Ok?"
"No, I-I can't move at all."
"I'll go get help."
I ran to my mother, Who was conversing with Julie's Mother.
"Mom, Its Julie, I Was playing Basketball, and the ball....It hurt her bad, Im sorry."
My eyes flooded now, Both Mothers and I Fled to her. Julie's mother called 911.
A couple weeks later, I found out Julie was partially paralyzed, Mom told me She couldn't move her legs anymore. I asked If I could see her.
"Alright, but Im going with you."
"Jules, How are you feeling?"
"Pain-wise Im much better, but I can't walk anymore."
"Im sorry, You know I didn't mean it, Right Julie?"
"Of course, Its Ok, dont feel so bad."
A couple Tears Streamed down my cheeks, as I hugged her tight
"Im just glad youre Okay, Jules"
I left about a couple hours later.
