Title: [RP] The Outcasts |Time: Early Morning|Weather: Clear
Post by: GrizzlyEatsKids on May 16, 2013, 02:46:12 AM
PLOT:

Hundreds of years ago, the nuclear World War III devastated Earth, destroying nearly every country and civilization, and almost causing humans to become extinct. Africa, while receiving major damage from the war, had remained neutral for the most part, and those who survived the war and were rich enough migrated to the continent over time. The rich all eventually settled in the center of the continent, creating an advanced utopian paradise known as Sanctum. Sanctum was then ruled by a religious council, who began their own religion, which by law all citizens had to follow. There were a total of thirteen council members, known as the Overrulers, led by a Head Overruler.

All of the radiation from the war, over time, mutated some of the population of the population's genes, and every once in a while a child with this mutated DNA would be born. These children, simply dubbed "Outcasts", were thrown out of Sanctum, whether to live or die, the Great Council didn't care. Some of Sanctum's citizens realized that this was wrong, and so they sneaked out of Sanctum to form their own nation, the Unified Citizens of Earth, or UCE for short. Throughout a couple hundred years, the UCE grew, expanding to the east, west, and further to the south of the continent. The barren north is considered dangerous, uncharted territory, and the Democracy of the UCE does not allow any sort of travel to that area, under any circumstances.

As time grew on, and the UCE prospered, Sanctum began to run low on valuable resources, which were abundant in the south. Sanctum then raged war on the UCE, and although they had better technology, Sanctum was far less strategic than the UCE, as well as greatly outnumbered. Back in the labs of Sanctum, tests were constantly being done on the children with the mutated genes, which Sanctum had just killed off rather than deported, and a discovery was made. By using secret methods, the mutated genes were able to be extracted from the children and then mutated again. The genes could then be injected into some of Sanctum's members to give them special powers, or magic. After many deaths, the scientists at Sanctum realized that only specific people could withstand the new genes and survive, resulting in only a select few who were able to use magic. Sanctum then used the powered humans to take the UCE under their control, but a few were able to go even further south into hiding, where a new, rebellious organization, known simply as the Renegade, was formed. Sanctum now controls the UCE, which basically serves as the poor, nearly enslaved region of the country, whose citizens are not allowed to enter Sanctum. Sanctum has a problem, though: the Renegade, who, although small, pose a major threat to Sanctum and its secrets. The Renegade has its own secrets, as well, but are they really worse than that of Sanctum? It will take a group of outcasts to unearth the truth behind the land's corruption; a secret that could change the world forever.[/size]

GM POST

Deep in one of Sanctum's best prisons are ten jail cells, split into two rows, facing each other, with a large aisle in the middle. Nine of the cells are occupied by members of a Renegade Army squad that was sent out to destroy the location where Sanctum kept the modified DNA used to create Casters, or those who were able to use magic. Their arms and legs are chained against the walls of their cells, angled so that they can view the screens in the aisle, which is currently blank. Three of Sanctum's Casters walk the aisle, armored in the standard Sanctum soldier armor.

Suddenly, the screens all come to life, and a female reporter is heard, but not seen.

Welcome all. Recently, you may have heard of the terrorist attack carried out by the Renegade Army on one of our great Sanctum's military facilities. Today, you will all witness the live execution of that terrorist squad's leader.

The camera zooms in to the stage in front of a loud, enormous crowd. There two soldiers can be seen escorting a man, who is gagged, out from behind the stage. He was barely recognizable anymore, Sanctum's beating and torturing mutilating his appearance. He can faintly be recognized as having been the commander of the apparently failed mission that the inmates of this cell block were a part of.

Leon and Celine

Leon's eyes slowly draw open. He weakly lifts his head up, looking across the aisle at Celine's cell, who was already awake, looking at him. They held each other's gaze for a moment, and Leon could not only see the worry in her eyes, but feel it. A lump forming in his throat, Leon swallowed, the saliva burning his dry throat as it worked its way down. He broke his gaze away from Celine as the monitors came to life, for the first time since they originally woke in these cells. He then noticed what he feared to suspect, the execution of the squad's commander. What did this mean for the rest of the squad?

Luke

Luke's eyes fluttered open with the blaring sounds of the screen. He looked up at the monitor, the cuts and bruises covering his body screaming in pain. He wanted to lash out, to holler, but he figured he best be quiet, as the guards were still patrolling. Lashing out could alert them, which was not a good idea. Then he realized what was being shown on the monitor, and he couldn't help but feel partly responsible.

Soul

Soul pulls on his chains again, knowing it's the only thing that will prevent the paining of his scar. He knows that if he slacks it will send waves of shock through his body, and his brain calls back the memory of how he got it. It was another facility, also one of the Sanctums', but not nearly as locked down as this one. Soul's limbs grow tired again, and he relaxes once more, pain ricocheting through his spinal chord. Soul looks out from his cell to see another cell with a hooded figure he can only assume to be Nexalas. Next to his cell is a screen with their squad leader being shown. Soul droops his head again, his scars' pain overlapping all of his senses.

Nexalas

He was already awake, being quiet as he tried forming a plan of escape. He looked at the screen and tried his best not to yank the chains or make a sound, knowing that attention would be drawn to him. He had no idea if they completed their mission or not, but from what he could remember they have definitely caused a little grief. He looked to his arms and legs, both of them restrained to the wall.

Knowing Sanctum, after their done with him they will probably wait and drag out our fear a little before they execute us, so I have plenty of time to plan for the moment. Now, how to get rid of these chains... We have no fire power and the guards are armed with guns and possibly magic, meaning if I try anything they'll shoot me.

He decided not to overwork his mind and watch the execution. Though sickening, he at least doesn't want to look away just to dishonor his death.

Sone

His restrains where extra tight, and every muscle in his body was sore, and some bones were probably broken. He looked to the screen, his eyes filled with utter hatred and disgust.

Is this some sort of a game to them?!

John, Mike and Adam

Mike wakes to the sounds of the guards walking by patrolling. He sees his hands and feet are bound and he has bruises all over. He been in situations like this before but not this badly injured and with the guards patrolling around it’s too dangerous to even try and make an escape. Then the screen above turns on and the noise wakes John who was right across from him. When John looks at the screen and sees the commander being taken and looking in the condition he does. John begins to rattle his chains trying to get loose but he just makes his scars worse.

Adam can hear sound of chains rattling and looks up at the screen. He feels sorry for the commander being carried away in such a state. When one of the guards passes by Adam's cell he reaches for his bandanna for his knife. But he can’t reach it with the ways his hand s is chained and goes back to watching the screen.

GM POST

The squad commander is shoved down on his knees. He doesn't even attempt to make a struggle, for he knows it will only make things worse for himself, his squad, and the Renegade's appearance. The executioner, wearing a black hood, walks up on the stage. There is no guillotine, just a large box, with a fairly decent sized, rounded notch on the top. One of the soldiers shoves the commander's neck into the notch, his head hanging off the edge. The executioner then draws his weapon, something that every member of the squad will recognize. It Sone's sword, the katana that he was so famous for wielding. Swinging the weapon over his head, the executioner hacks off the commander's head, many in the crowd averting their gaze, some even emitting screams and gasps.

Soul

Soul raises his head and sees through his blurred vision the execution of their commander. Unknowing of how to react, he simply puts his head down again.

I realize they have no tolerance, but do they really think killing off one of us will stop our entire motive?

Soul tries to rack his brain for anything he might be able to do to escape. If that's even possible. They knocked us out, and chained us up while we were unconscious. We don't even know what this place looks like. While he can't do much else, he examined his cell.

Above him was a barred window, across from him was the cell bars which he could see out of, and a small iron door that was barely six foot tall. There was one strip light bulb in the ceiling, which didn't provide for much light. On the ground was a small drain, with several red stains next to it, which Soul could only assume came from him, as the rest of the cell was spotless. Outside of the cell, all he could see was Nexalas across from him, and the occasional guard that passed by.

Sone

His eyes widened, and he gritted his teeth. He started yanking at his chains are hard as he could, resulting in rattling echoing across the prison. His adrenaline was rushing, and he was absolutely livid.

I'll kill you! I'LL KILL YOU!

He continued yanking at his chains in absolute fury.

Nexalas

Nexalas' eyes widened as well, did they think they were proving a point by using one of the renegade's weapons?!

I know he's famous, but he doesn't deserve to see his own weapon being us-

His thoughts where interrupted by the rattling chains and Sone's yelling.

Oh... now they've done it. There has to be some means of escape...

Luke

Luke watched in horror as the commander was beheaded with Sone's blade. What kind of sick joke was this? He gritted his teeth. They needed to find a way out of her-

He strained his neck, looking up, feeling something running down his arm. Were the handcuffs turning to liquid? What was going on?

Celine

Celine looked away as the commander was executed. A lump formed in her throat, making it difficult to swallow. She couldn't bear to look, although she already knew what happened. She just wanted to get out of here, and forget all of this. Why did any of this have to happen, anyway?

Suddenly, she cringed, Sone's screaming alarming her. Her eyes then grew wide as she accidentally looked up at the screen. They used Sone's weapon to execute their commander. Why? What kind of message were they trying to send?

Leon

All of a sudden, Leon was filled with rage. How could they do something like this? Executing the commander, unfortunately, he understood. But using Sone's most prized possession to do so? This was low, even for Sanctum. Leon thrashed about, calling out to one of the nearby guards, using more colorful language than he was accustomed to. Suddenly, a sharp pillar launched up, out of the ground from behind him, shattering the chains that held him to the wall. As he fell to the ground, he stuck his fist out to break his fall, and a single row of pillars rippled forward, breaking through the cell door and heading towards one of the guards!

GM- Guards

Guard 1

@Nex

One of the guards walked up to the screaming Sone's cell, a ball of fire appearing in his outstretched hand.

Why don't you shut up before I make you?

Guard 2

He turned towards Leon.

Quiet! Before I cut your tongue ou-

Before he had time to fully react, the pillar busted through the cell door, impaling the guard and shattering the monitor behind him.

Sone

He looks straight at the guard, his face was filled with absolute fury that would horrify his enemies. In his rage, his upper arm started glowing, and the chains binding it melted as a blast of plasma was shot from Sone's hand at the guard, resulting in an explosion.

Nexalas

He looked to his cell door as an explosion happened, unsure of what was going on.

Either one of the mages guarding us attacked, or they meant Sone's rage was explosive in a literal sense.

John and Mike

When  Mike saw the executioner throwing down Sine’s sword he cried out thrusting his hand forward as if to stop the sword. His hands were pulled back by the chains but a dark figure had shot up straight towards John. It didn’t hit him but his chains freeing his arms. When Mike looked down he saw the figure was coming from him, from his shadow to be exacts.

When John arms were freed he grabbed the chains trying to pull them off he then turned to Mike.
"Mike what. No, HOW are you doing that and do you think u can help me with these chains."

Mike grabs his hand and the shadow pulls back. With scared of what he had done he turns to John
"Are you kidding ?! What if i miss, it might go straight through you!"

Then an explosion goes off from down the hall startling both of them.

Adam
With all the noise Adam became nervous as to what was going on. Sweat started to pour off his face and hands. Adam clenched his fist not knowing how to get out. Then something started to wiggle in his hand. When he looked at it some liquid started stretching out his hand. He quickly let go and the liquid stabbed into the floor before turning into a puddle of water. When Adam saw the indent it made into the floor he got an idea and picked up a piece rusty metal shard that had fallen off one of his cell bars to see if it might change.

Soul

Almost immediately after their commander was beheaded, Soul hears a multitude of sounds from the other cells. Such sounds included yelling from Sone, what sounded to be the breaking and clattering of chains, a few guards, (one of which began to talk but was silenced by who knows what), an explosion, more clattering of chains, then silence. He looks up to see Nexalas also intrigued, and Soul nods his head in the direction of the sounds. I can only assume we're at the end of a hallway. Soul tries to look farther down said hallway, but moving too much hurts his scar.

To anyone who happens to be listening, what's going on.

Nexalas

Since the guards seemed distracted, he tested his chains one at a time to see if there was a weak link, but to no avail. He then looked across to Soul, talking to no one specifically. He smiled a worried smile, he had a feeling he knew what happened.

Long story short, they got Sone angry.

GM- Guards

The explosion knocked the guard onto his back, the attack missing. The other guard ran over to him as he stood up.

Don't worry about me! There's more going on, you idiot!

The other guard stood there anyway, as the first threw a ball of fire at Sone!

Leon and Celine

What the-

Leon shook his head. He didn't need to worry about this right now. Standing up, Leon figured that they musn't have been in the prison too long, as he still had most of the strength in his legs. While the commotion was going on over at another cell, he quickly grabbed the key off of the dead soldier's belt and used it to unlock Celine's cell door.

Leon, what's going on?

Shh, I'm not positive right now.

Whispering, he started unlocking the braces around her ankles and wrists, his hands a little shaky. Once Leon got them unlocked, Celine slumped forward, and he was luckily able to catch her.

You alright?

Yeah, I just need a minute.

Within a few moments Celine was able to stand on her own. As she uneasily rubbed her sore wrists, cut by the braces that held them to the wall.

Stay in here for now, it's safest in this cell.

Leon, I'm competent enough to-

No, Celine, that isn't my point. Those guards are Casters, and we're unarmed. I'm going to go and try to free some of the others while the guards are distracted.

Celine nodded, kissing Leon briefly on the cheek.

Be safe.

Leon, a bit unsure of what to expect, gave Celine a slight thumbs-up as he left her cell, quietly, but quickly, closing her cell door so as not to arise instant suspicion (although he left it unlocked).

Leon then ran over to Soul's cell, his friend and near-student, and unlocked it, first freeing his hands, and then his feet.

You holding up alright? Come on, let's see what we can do.

Luke

Luke dropped to his feet, the chains having melted away.

...the heck?

He scratched his head in confusion, noticing that the bars of his cell door had melted away as well. He cautiously stepped out of the cell, trying to get a full assessment of what was happening, when he was hit by a sudden realization.

We must be able to use magic. All of us must be Casters, in fact, seeing as we all survived the attack on the facility...

Sone

The guards, fortunately, were stupid enough to give him a moment to realize what he just did and how he did it. When the guard threw a ball of fire at him, Sone didn't even flinch, and instead yanked the other chain in the way, resulting in the chain melting and freeing his other arm. He then quickly put both of his hands together in a controlled fashion and fired a concentrated plasma blast at the guards.

(I'm just assuming that the chains are long enough for him to land on the ground)

Nexalas

He saw Leon go to Soul's cell and free him, and he held back a sigh of relief, not knowing if they are in the clear yet. He waited patiently, looking to Leon and letting him take his time.

Soul

Soul heard more clattering, then very discreet whispers before Leon came over and unlocked him.

You holding up alright? Come on, let's see what we can do.

Yeah, besides my back I'm fine, thanks. Soul looked out from his cell to see a few of the others, still locked up. He could only see the guards down at one end, fighting with who he assumed was Sone. To his left was a locked door, the only apparent exit. Soul turned back to Leon. Well, what next?

Leon

Leon tossed the keys in Soul's direction.

How about you go unlock the others? Just be quiet. I'll go try to help with all of that. He motioned towards the commotion before running out.

Leon quickly headed for the guard he took out, still a bit slow from being chained up for however long. He picked up the pistol off of the body of the soldier he had killed a minute ago. Looking through the small sights, he fired a couple of bullets at one of the guards' head, the shot echoing around the hallway.

GM- Guards

Guard 1

The Caster took a step back, distracted by Sone's breaking his chains. The plasma shot hit him straight in the chest, and he was thrown to the ground, dead, a hole having burned through the chest plate of his armor.

Guard 3

The guard barely had time to react to the death of his nearby comrade before he fell to the floor, two bullets going through his head.

Sone

Seeing the danger passing for now, he quickly grabbed both of the chains binding his feet and concentrated, melting them with energy without firing anything. He then looked at both of his hands, he already had good control over this strange power. He then ran to the hallway, looking around and saw Leon.

Where is that executioner?! I'll make him pay for using my blade just to make a show out of taking someone's life!

Nexalas

He saw Leon leave and Soul stood there for a second.

Oh don't mind me, just hanging on this wall.

Part of his voice was a joking tone, the other was impatient.

Soul

Soul caught the jumble of metal and nodded.

Let loose on them. I'll have someone watch the door, make sure nobody else gets in to stop us.

Soul peeked out, looking at the other end of the hall, and watched as his mentor filled a guards head with metal. He snuck over to Adams' cell, letting him out, and nodded towards the door.

Make sure no one else gets in. If they do, you know what to do.

Soul then proceeded to let out  Mike and John. He told each of them to wait in their cells until Leon had the situation handled. Soul then went to watch the door with Adam.

Leon and Luke

Leon went to put a hand on Sone's shoulder, but decided against it.

Look, I know you're frustrated, We'll get your sword back, but first, we need to get out of this prison.

Luke walked over to the two of them, picking a key and a gun off of one of the guards.

Save the reunion for later. We need to free everyone now.

He went over and unlocked Nexalas's cell, then removing his cuffs.

Come on, we'll all meet in the aisle.

Leon and Celine

Leon headed over to Celine's cell.

Was that a gunshot?

Glad to know you care about my safety. And yeah, it was.

He held up the pistol after making his sarcastic comment, handing it to Celine.

Thanks, but keep it. You're a better shot than me.

Yes, but I have this... magic.

Leon stopped, realizing what it was, how he had summoned the earth.

I can defend myself. Just take it.

Oh, yeah.

She took the gun, having forgotten -or at least tried to- about the magic momentarily. Together, they joined Sone and Luke in the aisle.

John and Mike

John now freed went towards Mike cell looking at the ruined hallway.
Geez those guys sure do know how to make a mess, huh?

Mike rubbing sore wrist and wounds as John talked
I don't think now is a time to be so relaxed. Things are getting pretty weird. I mean what was up with that shadow thing?

Adam

Adams suspicions were right the rusted metal started to stretch out of his hand. It had turned into a thin little blade kind of like a shiv. Adam stuck the shiv into the key hole and picked the lock to his chains. he went to the cell door and tried to pick that. Soul had unlocked the door as Adam got up telling him to wait in his cell.
"Hold on a sec."stepping out of his cell" What going on out here and what happened to these guys" Adam reached into his bandanna to grab his knife but finds the pocket to be empty.
"What the! Where did my knife go!?"

Sone

He grit his teeth and was about to say something, but then stopped, and painfully knew that he was right.

... Fine, I'll follow your lead... for now.

With that, he grabbed two ends of one of his cell bars, and used his powers to melt it off and make a sort of pipe weapon. He swung it and tested it, then turned and looked around.

This is a pathetic weapon, but it's more than capable of killing a guard.

Nexalas

He nodded and rubbed his wrists, then stretched before walking out of his cell.

Alright, so what exactly do we have to use right now? We need to form a plan of escape.

Leon, Celine, and Luke

Luke looked around at everyone.

First if all, one of those guards still has a pistol on him.

He looked over at John.

You, John. Aren't you good shot? Grab the gun off that soldier's body.

He pointed to the soldier Sone had killed.

Alright, so as some of you have probably figured out, we can use magic. We likely all have the potential, as we, covered in cuts, were bombarded by the modified DNA back in the facility, and all of us survived. Some of you just haven't discovered yet. Anyway, we obviously need to get out of here, but we're currently in one of Sanctum's best prisons.

What's this?

Leon handed an item he pulled off of one of the guards to Luke. Luke stretched the item out, a 3D hologram appearing in front of them.

It's a map.

Luke nodded.

Yup, appears so. Looks like we have a map of the prison, how lucky.

He browsed around the map for a second, then pointing at something.

Here. This isn't too far from where we are now.

What is it?

It's a tunnel system, I think. Right?

Leon looked up at Luke, who nodded again.

Exactly. It's a tunnel system only occasionally used by soldiers to get from place to place, and were actually built way back when Sanctum was first created as a fail-safe, should another nuclear war break out at the time.  The problem is, they only let out at certain places, which are often far from each other, so they aren't very conventional for daily use, and are mostly used as storage now.

So we just make our way through to wherever the entrance to these tunnels is hidden, and then we just take that and get out of here?

That's our best option, in my opinion. Unless somebody else has a better suggestion?

Luke looked around at the group.

From the door, Soul watched the others.

So we just make our way through to wherever the entrance to these tunnels is hidden, and then we just take that and get out of here?

That's our best option, in my opinion. Unless somebody else has a better suggestion?

Soul looked through the door window, then at the holographic map.

What about all of our weapons? We might need them in case we run into anyone, and I know that Sone probably wants his family sword.

Leon

Leon looked at Soul.

Well, for the most part, all we had were guns when we invaded the facility, but we'll take what we can from guards. I really don't see a way for us to get any other weapons. As for Sone's sword, we're not going to find that here. After all, whoever that executioner is has it. Our first priority is escaping.

Adam

Adam see everyone has gather into a group looking at a map. Adam goes over and chips off a rock from the pillar hanging out the wall. He walks over to the group.
"Alright Im armed and set to go." he said as he spinned a piece of stone that started to look like a small knife every time he cuaght it in his hand

John

John goes over to the dead guard and grabs the gun. He pulls the slide back emptying the chamber and inspects the gun.
"Nice piece. Decent size but this tool only has one magazine. so ammo's gonna be a problem. And if you really need someone to say it I say we get out of here and go put one of these rounds in that hooded creeps skull"

Soul

Good point. Well, Sone, seeing as you can rip a bar off of the cells, do you think you could rip me a bar too?

Soul goes to grab one of the bars, and a thin wire of electricity can be seen climbing his arm. Looks like I'm not left out of the magic party after all...

Soul again looks out the door window, making sure nobody is coming.

I'll go in front of everyone else, make sure the next hallway is clear. Once we get to this underground tunnel, I'll go through last to make sure we aren't followed. Unless anyone else is daring enough?

Luke

That executioner is the least of our worries. He's just a man employed by Sanctum. We have two, much bigger problems that I can think of, off of the top of my head. The first problem is the Overrulers. That have immense power, in both a magic and political sense. You can be sure they know about us, and once they're on our trail, good luck stopping them from finding us. Next, we likely won't be able to return to the Renegade after this. Due to history, not so much the army, but the other citizens of the Renegade have a natural opposition to Casters. Plus, if we head straight back to HQ, they'll track us down, and launch an attack on the Renegade, and if all of the Overrulers are involved, then the Renegade's done for.

He then looked over at Soul.

Hold on. We can't risk anything yet. We'll need more of a battle plan. There are definitely more guards out there, and they won't be so unsuspecting as the ones in here. You send one prisoner out there, and the entire prison's soldiers will be after us.
Title: Re: [RP] The Outcasts |Time: Late Morning|Weather: Mostly Sunny

Soul

Soul looked back at the group, then at the wreckage behind them.

While it's true that we need a plan, we can't stay here for long. I'm sure at least one person heard Sone's explosion, so someone has to be on their way here. As for everyone back at the Renegade, we don't have to let them know we're magic users. We might not be able to practice, nor do we have to, but we don't have to embrace it at all if we don't want to.

Soul thought of his previous capture by the Sanctum. He was told then that he had the potential to be a Caster, before the modified DNA was spilled on him and his comrades. He didn't think it much then, as he hated the Sanctum, but now it was almost unavoidable.

If I could have hidden it for four years, then why can't all of you? I'm sure there are others.

Leon, Celine, and Luke

Luke had turned back to the map, and was trying to come up with the best possible path to take. Leon addressed Soul this time.

No, Soul. We're likely all over the news already, and if we escape, then Sanctum'll have us all over the news even more. There's no hiding the fact that we're Casters by now. As for the guards, I doubt it. I believe that these rooms are sound proof, right?

He looked at Luke, who nodded his head.

Yep. Questionable decision, but yes, this cell block is soundproof. Allows for torturing and abuse of inmates without other guards or inmates knowing.

Meanwhile, Celine looked at her longtime boyfriend. He was tight, stressed. She wanted so desperately to comfort him, but she doubted that much she could do would help right now.

Sone

He ripped off another bar with his magic, feeling his mana starting to get low, and tossed it to Soul.

It has decent weight, when you use it make sure you aim for the face or head area. It's likely to smash their face in.

Nexalas

He walked to the map, observing it.

I have to admit Luke, your a lot smarter than I anticipated. We can find out what we're going to do afterward later, now is not the time for it. Our main problem is how to get in there and out of here without drawing too much attention as quickly as possible.

He scanned the map, noticing a line to the tunnel and pointed at a room not too far from the prison cell.

We have a head start, if this cell is indeed sound proof. It seems like we need to make our way through here to escape. Worst case scenario, Sone could always blow a hole into it. However, I don't recommend it. What are these two rooms?

Nexalas pointed at the room next to the prison cell, and the one next to that with the entrance on it.

Leon

Leon glanced at Sone, who ripped another bar from the cell.

Woah, be careful. You're probably depleting your mana, I guess it's called, and only a few of us even know how to really use this magic right now. We may need it.

Luke

I have to admit Luke, your a lot smarter than I anticipated. We can find out what we're going to do afterward later, now is not the time for it. Our main problem is how to get in there and out of here without drawing too much attention as quickly as possible.

Yeah, I guess. Only if I were smar- ah never mind. I am a Colonel, after all, so I guess it isn't for nothing. Anyway, yes, we need a plan, and soon, before the guards change shifts.

We do have a head start, for the time being. I don't anticipate us running into any guards, however, as those two rooms are just hallways, staircases. This block of the prison appears to be separated far from the others, so if we move out soon, we shouldn't have much of a problem. Now then, we need to determine exactly how we plan on getting there, just in case we run into trouble.

Sone

He nodded, knowing full well that even though he knows how to use it, he has no idea how to control it that well yet.

Nexalas

Nexalas crossed his arms, thinking.

Sanctum may not be as clever as us, but they aren't stupid either. Everyone who knows how to use their magic has to save it for when we run into casters, if we do run into any at all. We'll need to see if these guards have anymore clips for their guns, and just in case if we run into a crowd we need to conserve our bullets by hitting their weak points: mainly the head, or the heart. I suggest those with good aim at those areas. Now...

He looked at Leon and Luke.

If there is something I have missed that you have noticed please tell me, we cannot afford any casualties.

John

We'll have to set up a formation. I say we have Mike hear take the lead. Pushing him forward towards the group.

We're in unknown territory and he's pretty good at sneaking around. and that shadow magic of his should make it pretty easy to make a silent kill if need be. We can have  Leon and Sone take up the rear and block the tunnel with their magic once we reaches it. I can stay in the front of the center to provide him any cover.

Soul

Soul stepped back and leaned against the wall, waiting for the others to decide what to do. He thought among himself while he was waiting.

Should've taken those promotions when I had the chance. At least then what I said would be heard. I offered to take both jobs that John described. Can't blame him though. Everyone else can cast some form of magic, aside from Nexalas, and here I am, holding a metal bar. You would think it would make sense that the one who isn't as valuable as the others should put himself in the line of fire first.

Soul stopped his self-loathing rant for a second to again study the group. A dependable lot they were. All very trustworthy, each with their own strengths. Luke and Leon were both strong and capable. Sone, John, Adam, and Celine were all capable fighters. Mike was good at reconnaissance, and Nexalas seemed like he could be as well. Soul supposed he fit in somewhere.

Soul took a break from his thinking to meditate in the easiest from he knew; by staring into the marble his father had given him. He had made a special clasp that he could store it in on missions, and it had a touch memory so only his skin could open it. He was fairly proud of himself, and he was sure his father would be too.

Soul stepped forward again.

We do need to get out of here and to that passageway as quick as possible. Although I agree with John that someone needs to lead, and Mike is an honorable choice, I don't think that he should use his magic at will yet. None of you quite know how to control yours yet. As for not wasting bullets and getting around the guards themselves, we should try to use the guns as little as possible. They're loud, and just because this hall is soundproof doesn't mean the others are. He looked around at everyone else. Anything me or Nexalas missed?

Leon, Celine, and Luke

Leon and Luke both shook their heads.

Nope, I got nothing.

Same here. So how do you propose we get out of here, exactly? I have my own idea, but someone else's may work better.

We'll have to set up a formation. I say we have mike hear take the lead. Pushing him forward towards the group. He we're in unknown territory and he pretty good at sneaking around. and that shadow magic of his should make it pretty easy to make a silent kill if need be. The thing is, this isn't just some recon thing. We all need to get somewhere together. We do need a formation, though.

We do need to get out of here and to that passageway as quick as possible. Exactly my thoughts. So, what about-

What if we go double-file?

Huh? That could work.

Yeah, we'll do that. We'll go through two at a time, not far behind each other, and since he can use that sword magic, Adam will bring up the rear and go last. Leon and Soul, like Soul sort of suggested, will go first, then John and Mike, after that'll be Nexalas and Sone, and next will be Celine and myself. Any questions?

You don't want me to go with Leon?

No, Celine. We don't need either of you making unnecessary sacrifices. Plus, Leon practically taught Soul how to fight,, so they understand each others' styles well. With them being in the front, they'll be the first to encounter any trouble.

Celine and Leon nodded.

Ok then.

Fine by me.

Luke looked around at the rest of the group, hoping that they would all make it out alive, or, at the very least, not get captured again. Who knows what Sanctum would do if they got a hold of them after this. He rather they be shot by the guards.

Nexalas and Sone

Nexalas nodded, and Sone was just leaning against the wall, waiting for them to finish.

Alright everyone, we have our plan of escape, now we better get to using it to get out of here. Just remember: fight only when necessary, be as quiet as possible, and move as quickly as possible. We can't really afford any mistakes.

He smiled a reassuring smile, and Sone then walked to the middle.

If we're quite done, let's get a move on. As said before, Leon and Soul go first.

Nexalas looked through one of the soldiers corpses, finding a clip in one of their pockets.

Anyone low on bullets? You might want to carry this around.

Soul

Soul nodded slightly while looking down at his bar.

I think I'm good. I think it might actually be better if Leon traded for Sone's bar, too. Again, it's quieter, unless Leon wants to knock all the guards out with the butt of his gun.

Soul flipped the bar in his hand.

And for the record, I at least knew how to swing a sword. I came to him asking for instruction on how to do it better. But I get the point. Soul smirks for a second, then resumes his normal grimace. Lets get ourselves out of here.

Leon, Celine, and Luke

Luke nodded at the group.

Very well then. Let's head out. We have three rooms to cover. The first two are with stair cases, while the last last one, which contains the secret entrance. We have to move quickly, because as I've observed, the guards  change shifts at around what I estimate to be noon. Judging by what we saw from the execution, that isn't long from now.

Leon headed to the door, first looking at Sone.

Don't worry about the weapon. If it comes to it, I can still use my magic.

Then he looked at Celine, and simply gave her a nod. Lastly, he turned to Soul.

Let's go.

He carefully opened the door, slipping into the first room.

John and Mike

Don't worry i'll take that clip of your hands. John said as he takes the spare ammo Nex is holding out putting it into his pocket that haven't been torn

So, Mike looks like its me and you huh.

Yeah just like old times.

Ok, lets go. the two followed behind Leon and Soul.

Adam

Alright, I can manage that. Adam looks back at his little stone knife. The blade has been growing almost the entire time they've been planning
What the how do i get this thing to stop.  What was once a knife began to resemble a sword. Adam began to swing the sword around

Oh its light. He swung the sword at Leon unsightly pillar going clean threw falling to the ground. And sharp too. I can definitely bring up the rear with this.

Soul

Soul nodded and followed Leon out the door. He tried to follow closely behind. Leon may be his mentor, but he was also his friend.

Hey, don't try to hard with this magic thing. We don't know what could happen yet. It was an accident that you all got this ability, and as far as you know casting it earlier could have been one too. Just uh, be careful. Soul again looked at the bar, still thinking it to be such a measly weapon. But, just in case, I've got your back.

Thanks, and yeah, you've got a point. I honestly don't understand much of what's going on right now.

Looking around, he confirmed that no one else was in here, and motioned all the others through. John and Mike should be next, if he remembered correctly.

Once they start coming through, we should be able to move on to the next room.

John could see Leon signaling them to join to go outside the room.
Looks like we're up. Lets get a move on and get out of here.
John takes firm hold of his gun quietly going through the door with Mike.

What the. there isn't anyone out here. How could they have us so lightly guarded. no way they thought just 3 mages would be enough to keep in there. Powers or no powers i feel greatly underestimated.

Soul

Soul hears John complaining about the lack of competition. He peeks around the corner while addressing him.

Don't get cocky. Guards or no guards, we still have to be cautious. This is probably one of the most locked down prisons they have, and we're stuck in the middle of it. And don't forget that every little bit we talk gives them a greater chance of hearing us.

Soul puts his hand behind him in an open palm, then closes it into a fist, signaling the end of most talking.

They then fell silent as they walked behind John and Mike.

Leon, Celine, and Luke

As Celine and Luke walked into the room, Leon turned to Soul.

We'd better get going to the next room.

Celine just caught a glimpse of Leon as he began to head to the next room. So far, so good. She felt like things were going almost too good. Celine doubted it would stay like that for long.

Soul

Soul nodded. He followed behind Leon, and looked back at everyone before he passed through the door.

Luke had a point earlier. If we can get out of here safely, there's still a good chance the Sanctum will be tracking us. So we can't go back to the Renegade straight away. But, even after we're absolutely sure we aren't being followed, how are we supposed to go back, being magic users now? I thought I had the ability before, but not everyone can use their own type of magic. I wonder what mine will be like.

As Soul looks down to look at his hand, he glances at the marble his father gave him once more. As he does, another wire of electricity runs down his arm and down to the bar. It surrounds it for a second, faintly glowing, then fades.

He turned around to find the only things in the room were him and three dead bodies.Adam started scratching his head.

GM POST

A group of three guards, who were going to change shifts with the now dead ones in the cell block, were making their way down into the depths of the prison, when they meet of with Leon and Soul. One of them turns to the others.

One of you, go! Sound the alarms! It's the prisoners!

One of them runs off in the direction that they came from, while the other two go to face Leon and Soul. A shard of ice forms in the hand of the one across from Soul, while the guard across from Leon points a gun at the Renegade soldier's head.

Stand down!

Leon, Celine, and Luke

Leon cursed under his breath.

Crap.

This could be a problem.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Celine and Luke both heard a sudden commotion from the room ahead.

Leon!

Celine headed off into the next room, gun ready.

Celine, stop! Wait!

Celine didn't even hesitate to stop, busting into a room and firing off a shot at the guard who had been aiming at Leon.

Sone ran past Leon, readying his pipe.

Two guards show up preparing to attack then Celine runs past John And Mike firing her gun.
Well looks like this place is better staffed after all. hey Mike stay down unless you've gotten the hang of that shadow of yours.

John level his gun looking down the sight aiming for the first guards knee cap and quickly pulled the trigger.

GM GUARDS

Guard 1

The guard, reacting quickly to Celine's sudden attack, dodges, but the bullet still rips into his shoulder, and he is taken aback. This movement causes John's bullet to just narrowly miss. He fires a spray of bullets towards Celine, Sone, and Leon!

Guard 2

The guard swiftly sidesteps Soul's attack, alternating hands as he throws three razor-sharp shards of ice at Soul!

Leon and Celine

Leon grabs Celine's arm as he quickly ducks, yelling at Sone while he pulls her down.

Get down! Duck!

He summons a small wall of earth from the ground to protect them from the bullets, but it is not tall enough to protect Sone, as long as he is standing. The shield does block several bullets, though.

Sone

Instead of ducking, he quickly ran to the right, dodging the bullets, and then he lunged at the guard and swung his pipe downwards, hard towards his head.

Nexalas

He brushed his long hair with his hands, bored in the back of the line.

Don't mind me, just being useless at the moment.
Title: Re: [RP] The Outcasts |Time: Afternoon|Weather: Mostly Sunny

Soul

Soul, barely having any time to react, manages to roll to avoid the first two, first to his right, then the left, but the third one clips his shoulder as he rolls once more. Rather than being ice cold, it stings intensely, probably due to the very low temperatures that the ice is formed at through magic. Soul manages to roll one more time using his upper body strength, then throws himself from the ground towards the guard, boots first, hoping to knock him in the chest and into the other guard.

As he leaves the ground, another wave of electricity jumps across his arms, and this time down into his legs. What is all of this? It's never done anything like this. Once we're out of here, if we get out of here, I need to look into myself.

GM GUARDS

Guard 1

The guard staggered to the side, but Sone's attack grazed his injured shoulder. He falls towards the ground, readying to use magic.

Guard 2

The guard was hit by Soul's attack, and as he fell to the ground, he fired off three more shards of ice at his opponent.

Leon and Celine

Leon looked over to Celine.

Shoot him again! Now!

Celine nodded, and quickly rose over the earthen shield, letting loose another shot towards the guard! Leon could see that he was preparing to use some sort of magic, but hopefully Celine's shot would at least interrupt it. He could use his own magic, but he wasn't sure how much of this mana stuff he had left.

With all the movement John holds his gun waiting for an opening finger ready on the trigger.
Jeez cant anyone just stay still for a moment. Hows a marksman suppose to get a hit with allies getting in the way?

John sees Guard 2 shoot  3 shards at soul and pulls the trigger firing 2 rounds towards the shards and 3 more aiming down the guards arm.

Mike

Mike decides to take lay in the back with Nexalas having no weapon and to unsure of his powers to help fight.
Doesn't seem like were of much use right now huh? Kinda sucks having to stay in the back lines?

Mike then looks around the back row.
Speaking of back lines, shouldn't Adam be somewhere here with us.

Adam

Meanwhile somewhere nearby a man is running down the hall searching for his companions
Crap, crap, crap, crap, the heck are those guys they gotta be somewhere around here.
Adam continues running down listening for the sound of gun fire he been hearing every so often.

Sone

He was about to strike, but noticed someone fire at the guard, and he got out of the way by leaping backwards. He then held his sword in a strange fashion, preparing himself for a magic attack.

Nexalas

It's not that I'm useless in a sense, it's just that I don't have a weapon, and running right into a soldier armed with a gun with only your fists is suicide... however...

He closed his eyes and looked at a mental image of the map, looking to see if there are alternative means of escape.

Just because I'm useless in battle for now does not mean I'm completely useless...

Using his right hand, he lobs the bar in the guards direction.

Luke

This can't go on much longer. We'll never get out of here.

Drawing the gun he took in the cell block, Luke ran into the room ahead. He got in there just in time to see Soul throw the bar at the guard. Without hesitation, Luke pulled the trigger on his pistol, aiming at the guard. If he had timed it right, then his shot should hit.

GM GUARDS

Guard 2

Soul's pipe slammed into the guard, throwing him backward and making him unable to defend. This opened him up to Luke's attack, and the bullet hits him almost straight through the heart, effectively killing him.

(Both Soul and Luke gain a level.)

Soul

Soul jumps up, staggering a bit. He runs over to the thrown bar and picks it up. He wipes his eye once more, but keeps it shut.

Quick! Get going to the passageway! You heard the one guy, he's going to get more guards! And I'm sure they heard us here, so get moving!

Leon, Celine, and Luke

Luke nods at Soul before looking at the rest of the group.

He's right! Go, get a move on! Forget about the order, and get into the next hallway! NOW!

Leon quickly stands, pulling Celine up with him.

Come on, let's go!

Right, you lead!

Leon gives her a reassuring nod before heading off to the hallway, Celine, and then Luke, not far behind.

Sone and Nexalas

They both sped down the hallway, Sone lagging a little with his bad back and Nexalas helping him up.

...Thank you.

Well, I can't be useless all day.

They ran/sped walked down the hallway, keeping up with the others while Nexalas supports Sone.

Adam and John/u]

Adam comes running into the hall were everyone is sword out ready for battle.
Don't worry guy i'm here to hel-. Christ what happened here!?

Adam stood  befuddled at the scene of 2 dead guard lying dead and everyone almost uninjured excluding Sone who seems like he took the worst of it.

I'm afraid you missed all the fun my friend. Come on were heading out try to keep up this time.

Uh, Yeah? Man im never gonna get to cut some sanctum goons down at this rate.

John and Mike start to follow behind the Leon and the rest while Adam get to the back again.

GM POST

As the group stepped into the hallway with the hidden passage, sirens began to blare throughout the prison.

CODE RED. CODE RED.THE RENEGADE PRISONERS IN LOWER BLOCK JJ HAVE ESCAPED. GO TO TOTAL LOCK DOWN PROTOCOL IMMEDIATELY.

The message repeated itself over and over again, loud, beeping sirens blaring the entire time.

Leon, Celine, and Luke

Luke squinted, looking around frantically for any discoloration on the floor or walls. The sirens were by no means helping, either.

Help! Look around for the hidden entrance!

He continued looking around as Leon and Celine split up to help. Guards would surely arrive any minute...

Got it!

Celine stood up near the site where she believed the hidden entrance to be. Both Luke and Leon ran over.

Is this it?

Luke pointed to the area where Celine was standing.

I think so. I'm pretty sure it covers both part of the floor and the wall.

Alright, let's give it a shot. How do we get this thing open? I could try some magic, but-

No, you've used enough already. Maybe I can turn it to liquid, like I did my cuffs back in the cell.

Ok, sounds good. Go for it.

Luke did his best to silence the area around him, to drown out the sirens and the "Code Red" warnings as he closed his eyes. He focused on the area where they thought the entrance to be. He could almost feel that it was different than the floor and wall surrounding it. Suddenly, there was a crumbling sound, first accompanied by a small "Crack!", and he quickly opened his eyes to see that, sure enough, he had somehow destroyed what used to be a hidden entryway. Now there was just a large hole. Luke looked at the others.

Go on, what are you waiting for!?

No, you go first. They need a leader down there, someone who has experience exploring unknown territory.

Like you, soldier?

No sir, you, Colonel.

Luke stopped. No one had called him Colonel, or sir, for that matter, since the mission started. Being called in a leadership position, when he wasn't originally brought back several memories, many of them unpleasant. He shook it off.

Alright. Get everyone in safely.

As Luke went to get in the tunnel, Leon tried to lighten the grim mood with a salute.

Sir yes sir!

Despite this, they both found themselves unable to form even the slightest grin. Leon turned to Celine, putting his hands on her shoulders, as Luke disappeared underground. Far in the distance, he thought he could hear the shouting of guards.

Celine, go.

But Leon, there are guards coming. What about y-

Listen Celine, we don't have time to argue. Go. You'll be safe down there, I promise.

But you won't be safe up here.

Don't worry about me. I still have a little magic left. Plus, I have some help up here, for the time being.

A tear began to form, dripping down Celine's cheek. Leon wiped it away, trying to comfort her.

Go.

Please, make it down. I can't lose you.

I know. I'll get there safely. I promise. Now go!

Celine nodded, heading down the passageway. The distant shouts of the guards were growing ever louder.

Soul

Soul set himself up on one side of the entryway. He looked at how many people were there, and at the same time heard the guards shouting. His grimace deepened as he hissed through his teeth,

Get down there! I don't care if you all shove yourself into pretzels! Get yourselves safe!

His eye began to sting again, and he had to prop himself with the bar while he wiped it again.

I don't plan on sitting in this place any longer, and even if I'm the last one down, I'm making sure I don't get caught again.

Sone and Nexalas

They both heard the guards and ran into the hallway, when Sone suddenly fell and collapsed, then Nexalas picked him up.

Just go, I'm only going to... slow you down!

He was very tense and sore, the long period in the prison cell taking it's toll. Nexalas hoisted him onto his back, and kept running to the entryway.

Sorry captain, I can't really do that... also, your a lot lighter than you look.

Nexalas ran into the tunnel, carrying Sone inside as he nodded to Leon and Soul.

Careful you two, I don't want to lose anyone.

With that they both ran into the passageway.

John and Mike

The alarm sounds alerting the prison that everyone had escaped. The sudden noise startled the two.

Crap, looks like we've been found out and to think we almost got away with this scott-free.

So we've already made down this far and the door to the tunnel should be around here somewhere.

Luke had found the entrance to the tunnel and the other started to walk in after some rather "emotional" moments.John took out the clip to his gun replacing it with the one he got form Nexalas.

Alright, lets get going before more of us go through the feels.

Uh, Yeah.

The two go into the dark tunnel going around Nexalas and Sone.

Adam

Adam was still casually walking behind guarding the back line, still holding his stone sword on his shoulder, till he came up the entrance of the tunnel with leon hanging outside it .

*casually*Hey, you know you should probably get inside the guard might show up any minute.

John began to proceed down the tunnel  whistling a cheery little tune tapping the face of his sword on his shoulder.

Leon

Leon gave Soul a hard look.

Listen, we're the last two here, and I think we can make it before the guards come. Hop down, and I can use the remainder of my magic to seal up the tunnel behind us.

Leon turned his head, and suddenly several bullets whizzed past, some of them nearly hitting him.

Go, now!

Soul

Soul turned in the same direction as Leon and saw several guards running their way. He threw the bar he was holding down their direction, hoping to do something. He jumped into the passageway and motioned for Leon to join him.

You said you'd seal it, so get down here, fast. Either we make it out or both of us stay here.

A quick thought passed through Soul's head, and despite the madness, he chuckled for a second.

Once we get back, Leon will keep instructing me on better battle tactics. But I swear, I'm going to be his new running coach.

Leon

Leon looked at the guards one last time, nearly able to make out their faces now, another flurry of bullets flying past. No time to waste, Leon began to head into the tunnel, when his entire left arm erupted in pain. He looked down at his arm to see blood pouring down from his upper arm.

Dammit.

He ignored the bleeding for a second, focusing his mind on the ground around him as he could now clearly make out what the guards were saying. The area around Leon began to crack and split, breaking all the way to the entrance hole. Leon backed up as the entrance collapsed, sealing one of the only ways into the tunnel.

I sure hope the other entrance is usable, or else we're stuck in here.

He put his hand over the wound in his arm, keeping extremely tight pressure over it.

Jeez, this hurts. I hope this at least slows the bleeding until we get into a place where I can see it better.

Looking around, Leon realized he could barely see anything down here, nearly having to duck in order to prevent hitting his head on the ceiling.

Well, we're off to a great start.

The thoughts in his head were loaded with sarcasm.

Soul

Soul heard Leon's deafening magic close them in, separating the group from the guards, albeit only for the moment. He also heard Leon curse, and could only assume that he'd been hit.

Zeus Leon, we're not even safe yet. Lets try to keep ourselves out of trouble next time. Soul smirked in the darkness, and tested his eye once more, only to find it practically glued shut by blood.

Great, just one more scar that I needed.

Nexalas and Sone

Nexalas looked back for a moment, hearing the entrance collapse.

You made it, I was a bit worried that you would have been captured.

Sone looked up a moment, every muscle in his body sore from abuse and inactivity.

It takes a lot more than that to kill them... I've seen them in the battlefield a few times... also...

He nodded to Nexalas.

That was foolish, but thank you.

Nexalas smiled, and nodded.

Alright, now that the first danger has passed let's keep moving. The second danger is whether or not we can get out of here.

John and Mike

The entrance could be heard collapsing cuttign off the only light source, darkening the cave making it almost pitch black. Everyone still seems to be moving forward though.

I guess we don't have to worry about being followed for a while with the only entrance in here blocked off.

Hey wait if these tunnels connect to a bunch of different Sanctum bases isn't there a chance we could get ambu-.

John in the darkness tripped over a rock.
Ow! Doesn't anyone have a some sort of illuminating magic or a lighter or something? I can't tell where I'm going at all.

John picking himself back up.
Speaking of where are we going exactly?

Adam

Adam continues walking down the tunnel wistling when it suddnely goes dark.

Well this helps alot i can barely see in here. *sigh* Guess I'll just keep walking forward till i find a light or a out of here.

Leon, Celine, and Luke

Without looking back, as he couldn't really see, Luke replied to John.

Like I said earlier, these tunnels connect to very few places. If we're ambushed, though, it can't be any worse than if we would have been caught up on the surface. As for where we're going, that's anyone's guess.

Feeling his way along the walls, Luke eventually saw a lighted area not too far away.

I can see a room up ahead.

Luke made his way forward into a large circular room, the walls of which were lined with wooden crates containing first aid kits, backpacks, water canteens (which were filled), and rope. There is only one other doorway on the opposite side of the room. The passageway opened enough for better movement. This allowed Leon to get through and meet up with Celine.

Oh my God! Leon, what happened!? Are you alright!?

I'm...fine. Just a bit... weak.

Leon's vision was beginning to blur, and in reality, he was not fine.

Luke moved him over to a single, closed crate.

Sit on this.

Leon nodded weakly. The wound must have been worse than he first thought. Luke looked over at Celine. Luke reached over to some crates and grabbed a couple of first aid kits.

You're our medic, right?

Celine nodded, too nervous to speak. She had dealt with plenty of injuries, including Leon's, but this was just... different. She pulled Leon's red hand away from the wound, which almost stuck to his arm because of all the blood.

Wow...that's uh, that's bad.

I've seen a few wounds like this, and he's lucky the bullet went clean through his arm. Looks like it just hit the edge, he should be alright.

I hope so...

After taking care of the wound and cleaning it, Celine handed Leon the rest of the canteen of water she used to drink and re-hydrate himself as she wrapped his arm.

How's that?

Honestly? It hurts like hell, but I do feel a little better now. I'll be fine. Let's gather some stuff here and move out.

Celine grabbed Leon's hand, firmly placing on the wrapped wound.

Keep pressure on it, would ya? And I think you need to rest for a moment.

No, I'll be fine, there's no time.

Actually, we have plenty of time. We're safest down here...for now, at least.

Fine, but only a minute. Now why don't you go get us some supplies, hotshot?

Luke gave a brief, rare grin.

Alright, but I'd think our best soldier could go get his own backpack.

The kidding aside, Luke walked over to some more of the crates, shifting through to find the right supplies.

Soul

Soul entered the small lit room to see Leon being patched up by Celine while Luke watched. He looked around the room to see a fair amount of supplies, at least what he considered fair for the current conditions.

I'm surprised this much stuff would be down here. I expected a long hallway with one exit. Instead, we find temporary shelter.

Soul walked over to the supplies and grabbed a backpack, canteen, and a singular first aid kit. He thought it best to save the first aid kit for later, rather than use what it had on what little injuries he'd sustained. He took only a sip of the water, despite his thirst, and sloshed it around his desert of a mouth. After he swallowed, he took a bit of his saliva and used it to clean the cut above his eye.

It may not be the cleanest, but it's better than using what I've just been granted. Don't know how long we'll be in nowhere-ville.

He looked in the first aid kit for some sort of paste, and found a disinfecting/antibiotic salve. He took a small amount and made sure he could feel the cool sting throughout the cut. He cleaned his eye out, and once again tested it. This time he could open it, with a bit of a blur around the edges.

Better than nothing I suppose.

He strapped his backpack tight against his back before sitting down against one of the cave walls.

John and Mike

John and mike walked into the  small lit room to see a place full containers with your average survival supplies. John began burrowing in one of the containers looking for useful things. But only finding the backpack and canteen useful.

There's nothing in here to fight with and these bullets  won't last me forever.

Why don't you at least take med kit in case you get hurt.
Mike had taken all the supplies in the crate and strapped the back on already.

Nah i don't need it. Here you take it if you want your not carrying much anyway
John took the the med kit out the crate and tossed it to Mike, who decided to hold on to it cause cause like he once read in a book "When you gamble with safety, you bet your life" and John tends to be reckless.

Adam

Adam walking in last as usual see everyone getting supplies and decides to follows along with everyone else. He takes a back pack and put the canteen and medkit inside. Adam then picked up the empty crate and decided to cut of two wooden planks from the crates. and put them into his backpack. Adam the goes up against the wall and rest his sword against it and decides to lie down for however long he's got,

Nexalas and Sone

Nexalas and Sone entered the room, Nexalas setting Sone down against a wall. He found some water and gave it to Sone.

Here, your not actually injured, but this should help a bit in getting your energy back.

Sone nodded, and drank some of the water, feeling a little refreshed from the cool water. He saved a little for later.

... Thank you.

No problem, now what else is in here...

He looked around the room, and found a few basic supplies, which he filled a backpack he found with. (Items: Canteen filled with water, rope, and two first aids.) He filled another backpack and set it down next to Sone.

I didn't find any weapons, but we better carry some of this with us, it will most likely be useful.

Sone nodded, and rested for a moment. Nexalas simply waited for the others to finish.

Everyone might as well take a few supplies with them, and make sure to pack plenty of water. We probably have a lot ahead of us after we escape.

Leon, Celine, and Luke

Luke brought over three solid black sling bags, each containing a canteen, a rope, and a first aid kit. He handed one to Leon, and another to Celine, keeping the last for himself. He looked around at the group.

Alright guys, let's move out.

As Luke made his way through the next doorway, Celine offered to help Leon up.

No, I got it. This is nothing.

Leon did feel a little weaker than usual upon standing, but it wasn't anything he couldn't handle. Upon making their way through the doorway, they noticed that this hallway was slightly bigger and much better lit.

Thank God...

Soul

Soul hears Luke talking to Leon and Celine and picks his head up. The three exit into the next hallway, beginning their next trek. Soul follows them out, not wanting to be left behind. He notices that this new tunnel is much more accommodating to small groups such as themselves, and those with poor eyesight such as himself, (what with his newly acquired scar).

Well, at least I don't need to duck anymore.

Nexalas and Sone

Sone got up slowly, stretching a bit before walking to the door.

I hope this tunnel leads to outside of the city, because if not then this will be difficult.

Nexalas followed him, looking at his map while walking.

Well I can't say where this ends, this only shows the map of this building... but we should probably be fine as long as we're careful.

I'm under the impression that was directed at me.

They both went into the hallway, waiting for the others to catch up.

Everyone gather there stuff and begins to leave to the next hall. John and Mike pick up there stuff and begin to set out into the new hall. The new hall is dark but its brighter than the last one. The hall seems wider to probably to carry all that supplies through.

I wonder what will find in the next room?

Hopefully a way out, I don't want to stay underground to long.

Adam

GM POST 1

The doors to the interrogation room were thrown open with a loud Bang!, as two guards proceeded to drag in a beaten man. There was a table in the room, along with two chairs. At one of the chairs sat the High Overruler of Sanctum. The other chair was empty. The High Overruler waved his hand.

Set him down here. He does not deserve the chair. In fact...

He rose his hand in front of him, palm facing the chair. A beam of white energy shot from his hand, destroying the chair. He looked at the guards, who had dropped the man on the floor.

You are excused.

The soldiers saluted, shutting the door on their way out. The High Overruler's anger was apparent, yet he kept his deep voice smooth and controlled. He spoke without even bothering to look at the man on the floor

You know, I hate getting my hands dirty, I prefer not to do things myself, rather have someone else do it, you know?

The man on the floor coughed up blood before responding.

Just kill me already.

Kill you? No, I'm going to do far worse. Do you realize the scope of what you've done? Everything that's happened with that Renegade squad, from the initial invasion to now the prison escape, is all thanks to your... incompetence. I expected better when I appointed you as Head of Sanctum's Security after our previous head's mishap. Enough talking. Time for some fun.

The High Overruler stood out of his chair, handcuffs suddenly chaining the Head of Security's arm's and legs to the floor, appearing out of nowhere.

You try to act as if you aren't scared, but I can see it in your eyes. Fear has consumed you, but don't worry, when I'm done, your body will barely be able to feel pain, much less anything else.

His voice grew harsh as he finished this, a blast coming from under the man as the handcuffs disappeared. There was a loud crack as the man's body slammed against the ceiling, where it then landed on the floor, his arm falling on a suddenly appearing blade and littering the floor with blood. The man couldn't help but to let out a scream.

Shut up!

A large hand, made up of pure energy, came from out out the wall, picking the man up as it quickly retracted back to the wall, thus binding him in a standing position. With a flash of light, an old time revolver pistol appeared in the High Overruler's hand. Walking up to the thrashing Head of Security, he shot the man's kneecap as the hand dissipated, causing the man to fall back down to the floor as he hollered in pain once again.

Get up!

He pulled the man back up and threw him against the wall, blowing his other knee out with what was now a shotgun. The man crumpled, but the High Overruler summoned a special set of pressurized wraps to place above the man's knees, cutting off circulation and bleeding, in order to prevent death.

Hmm... standing up may be a bit difficult now. Look, I'll help you.

Two ropes fell from the ceiling and wrapped around the man's arms, picking him off the ground and into a standing position, but placing him in such a way that pressure was put on his legs and knees, yet he was still held up in full by the ropes. An ear splitting scream ripped through the room. A large metal bat appeared in one of the High Overruler's hands, and a whip in the other.

Don't give up yet. We're just getting started!

The most evil of smiles crossed the Overruler's face.

GM POST 2

The group had been traveling for hours, arriving at and weaving through many other tunnels and rooms. Ahead, a room larger than the others could be seen, overflowing with tons of large, locked crates.

Leon, Celine, and Luke

Upon arriving into the room, Leon and Luke went directly to surveying the crates. These were different from the others they had seen. They were made out of some sort of metal, not wood like the crates in the previous rooms. Leon tried pushing on one in an attempt to figure out what was in it. It didn't budge.

Jeez, what do you think are in the things?

No idea, but it must be valuable. I don't see anyway to get them open, do you?

Leon looked around. Sure enough, there were no actual locks, or even lids, on the crates.

No, that's strange.

We can try using our magic to open them, but we have to be careful, or else we may damage whatever is inside.

Soul

Upon entering the room, Soul nears Luke, Leon, and Celine looking at the crates. He listens to their conversation for a second, picking up on the fact that they have no apparent opening. Soul lays his hand on one: the crate is ice cold to him. When Luke says something about using magic to open them, a bit of a shock hits Soul from the crate, and it runs up his arm and down the other one.

Hey, Luke. If I recall correctly, you can liquefy any substance, right? Well, try it on this crate. If it works though, don't wear yourself out.

Nexalas

He thought for a moment, looking around the metal crates. They were a lot more like boxes though, as they had no lid.

I wonder if it's anything useful, we might be able to find some value out of whatever is inside. however, there is also a risk...

Sone

He inspected a crate, looking for a sort of lid or crack on it.

Here, let me try melting this like those bars.

His hand started glowing with energy, and he went over the top of one all around, melting it and creating a sort of half-melted lid. He felt a bit more of his mana drain, but he still felt as if he had enough for at least one blast. He then proceeded to break the top off, looking at what's inside in the poor, but illuminating light.

GM POST

As Sone peered over the top of the crate, the entire thing collapsed, spilling its contents on the floor. With a clatter, a multitude of weapons fell to the ground, ranging from scythes to swords and everything in between.

Leon, Celine, Luke

Luke took a step back as the crate collapsed,, while Leon remained in place.

Sweet.

Luke clapped Leon on the shoulder.

Told ya' it was something useful.

Hate to interrupt, but, even if all of these contain weapons, maybe it would be best if we opened a couple more?

Yeah, I got it.

Luke closed his eyes, focusing on another one of the crates. Suddenly, the crate collapsed on itself, revealing more weapons. He did this to a third crate as well, then looked at the rest of the group.

You guys see anything you fancy?

Nexalas

He picked up a scythe, testing it out with a few swings and spins, and a couple of stances.

Hmmm... Feels about right. Looks like it was worth the risk after all.

He held it in a casual manner.

Looks like it's back to the front lines for me.

Sone

He saw a few swords, and started picking them up one by one, testing their weight and putting them in different piles. He then finally made a decision and chose a blade that was a bit wider and heavier than the others.

It's not as heavy, but it will have to do for now until I retrieve my sword.

Soul

Soul was looking for a particular sort of weapon set; a sword and a shield, preferably with variable offensive options. Back at the Renegade camps, the training equipment was severely limiting for those of his position. However, since he was trained by Leon, along with the opportunity for promotion, Soul had intense training, and thus was capable of handling a sword and shield much more deftly than the average soldier.

While looking about the crates, Soul came upon sword after sword and shields both offensively and defensively scaled, but none of which were to his liking. He came upon a set, however, of a black sword and shield, seemingly made of the same material.

He didn't mean to find them. Soul was looking at another sword, and went to examine it. As he attempted to pick it up, however, a surge of electricity welled up inside Soul, and rode his torso into his arm and jumped to the sword and shield set. He picked it up, and again felt energy swelling inside himself. Despite their look, both sword and shield were lighter than expected, and fit on his bad with the attacked strap.

Now this is the kind of weapon I've needed all this time.

John

Exploring through he crates John finds nothing but swords and knifes. He starts throwing the useless tools out of his way looking for a weapon more his style. He then finds something magnificent deep at the bottom of the crate. A cross bow combined with a wrist guard it was spectacular. It came with a small fanny pack full of small arrows and a lil red dot sight attachment. John took a victory pose at his success

Mike

Amongst the tools John had been throwing around one thing cuaght Mike's eye. A pair of steel claws sharp and deadly. He strapped them to his hands it felt right to have them on.

Adam

Adam was disinterested to what was in the crates nothing would be as good as his hunting knife and he feels less than comfortable being with out. Adam just keeps tapping around with his stone sword as everyone picks out their weapon.

Leon, Celine, and Luke

Perfect.

Luke pulled out a fairly simple, hand-and-a-half sword that he estimated to be between 4 and 5 feet long. He gave it a couple of swings, and nodded confidently. This was a fine sword, and fit him and his style perfectly. He pulled a dark brown sheath out and attatched it to his belt, sliding the sword smoothly in place.

I'm not sure what I want...

That's true, being a medic, you're not used to wielding a lot of these weapons.

Celine shook her head, her arms folded.

I mean, I've had basic training with different types of weapons, but nothing advanced.

Let me see what I can find.

Leon began digging through the crates, when Luke pulled something off of the floor.

How about this?

He showed her a black and silver bladed boomerang, which he took out of its sheath.

That could work. I remember playing with these all the time as a kid. I used to be pretty good, too.

She happily took the boomerang from Luke, attaching the sheath to the strap on her sling bag.

Thanks, Luke.

Don't mention it.

Oh-ho, now this is a weapon.

Celine and Luke both looked over at Leon, who unearthed a large, heavy looking war hammer. He tossed it to his right hand, then giving it a testing swing.

I could get used to this.

Don't you think that looks a little heavy?

Nope. It feels just perfect.

Yeah, it can't be that bad. Let me see it.

Leon handed the hammer to Luke, and it immediately fell to the ground.

Good lord, this thing is heavy!

He was able to lift it off of the ground, albeit barely.

Here, take this before I hurt myself.

Leon took the weapon back, and it was in that moment that Luke realized just how formidable a warrior Leon was. Not only was he strong, but his strength was almost super-human, it seemed. Almost.

Anyway, is everyone ready? We do need to move on.

Nexalas and Sone

Sone found a sheath for his blade, and Nexalas found something to carry his scythe with, putting on their equipment and preparing themselves.

Well, this will do. So I'm ready.

The same goes for me. I'm ready to get out and see what we're up against.

Soul

Soul pulls himself off the ground. As he does, his backpack scrapes along the cave wall, making a small static charge run across his back. He looks back to check his back, and surprises himself when he looks back to see the sword and shield.

I know it hasn't been ling since I picked this up, but it's so light I couldn't even feel it. All of these weapons we attained, they're all so amazing. They all seem to be of spectacular craftsmanship, and all so... No wonder they were in what was believed to be sealed crates.

He looked over and saw a few of the others beginning to get up, and he turned towards the next tunnel.

I'm ready when you all are.

John and  Mike

Straping on their weapons Mike can see that everyone,  well almost everyone had picked up a weapon from the crates. Seemed like everyone was ready to move out. Mike was ready and began to move towards the next entrance.

  Yeah we're ready

John headed back over to one of the weapon crates picking up a dagger in his hands.

  Hey Mike, catch!

John said as he threw the dagger in his hand blade first.

  Catch wha-

The dagger came straight at Mike. Surprised at the the weapon coming toward him. He cringes taking his claw protecting his face. But he felt nothing hitting him. When he looked up, the dagger had been stopped dead in its place. Looking more closely it was by his shadow which had pierced the side of the dagger.

Cool looks like you are getting the hang of that.

Mike livid  What's wrong with you that could've stabbed me. And I didn't do a thing it was the shadow.

John surprised at what Mike said oh dont worry i was through tilted to the left it would've gone right past your face if u hadn't stopped it. So the shadow can react on its own that's awesome.

I don't know but don't try something like that again.

John still some what cheerful  Alright come lets head out with everyone else

   Adam

  Yeah I'm ready .

Adam picked himself up and began to shuffle towards the rest of the group. Dragging his sword across the group leaving a indent in the ground.

Leon, Celine, and Luke

After traveling for what seemed like an eternity, the group reached a dead end. Along the way they had come along a few other rooms containing things like more water and some food rations.

So that's it? It just ends?

This tunnel must have been sealed off quite some time ago, possibly even before Sanctum was built, if I had to guess.

Could you use your magic again to break the exit?

Maybe, but from what I've studied, magic runs on something called mana, which I've probably already used a lot of. I assume I'm almost out, but I'm not entirely sure that it'll even work here.

Wait. Before anyone does anything, we should discuss it first anyway. We don't know where, assuming that this is in fact the way out, this will lead to. What if we pop up in another prison? Just an example.

Luke looked at the others.

Leon's right. Besides, Sanctum's likely searching everywhere for us. Any ideas?

Sone and Nexalas

Sone grunted, getting impatient.

I don't see any reason we have to think about this. If this indeed ends badly, I see nothing that we can lose. If we just sit here and plan forever nothing will come out of it. We either wait for Sanctum to dig us out and kill us here, or we could die fighting.

Nexalas nodded.

Normally I have do disagree with Sone's blunt logic, but this time he's right. It hardly matters what's on the other side of this wall, if we don't get out Sanctum will find us and kill us... or we'll all starve to death. Neither is fun.

John

While every began thinking of their next move, John decided to take a rest and laid down next to the wall. Looking up he started wondering how much longer they'd be down here. From what it seemed like there was no way out. If they turned back they run the risk of getting caught and there no where to go that leads to the surface.

Wait the surface! John jolted up with an idea.

Guys if were looking for a way out then the next place we should go is obvious.

Then pointing up at the ceiling to sow what he was going for.

If we blow a hole in the ceiling then use the rope we got back in the first room along with something to act as a hook we can just keep climbing up till we reach the surface.

Soul

Soul considered both Sone and Johns ideas, and came up with a combination of the two.

I agree with Sone that we simply need to get out of here and get somewhere father away from Sactum. And while I also agree with Johns' idea of getting to the surface, what he says could mean that we would be blasting upwards for a while, endangering everyone below, and depleting mana.

Soul walked over to the end of the corridor. He placed his hand in a nook that allowed him to touch both the ceiling and the wall at the same time.

Since we're already underground, if we blast through here with whatever we've got, then we could go both upwards and outwards, assuming we're under something and need to get out from under it and above ground again.

Soul turned back to everyone else.

But it's just an idea.

Luke

Luke paced around for a moment, thinking.

I got it.

He stopped moving around, looking at the group again.

I'm not sure if you all saw it, but back when I found the entrance to these tunnels, it was made of a slightly different material than the area around it, as it was sealed either before the structure around it was built, or after the tunnel had been used. While Soul and John both have good ideas, let's see if we can locate some sort of different material first. Our exit should be there.

Sone and Nexalas

Sone grunted, but nodded, looking for said passageway.

I should have just retrieved my sword when I had the chance...

Nexalas thought for a moment, then thought of something.

I'll check a little further back to see if we missed it. If anyone finds it, just holler.

He started walking back the way they came.

Soul

Soul turns around to face the wall, which ends up right behind him, making him feel stupid. He begins to walk along the wall, feeling each little section with his hands.

This doesn't make sense. When he says something different, does he mean stone as compared to dirt? Or does he mean-...

Soul stops his immediate thoughts when his hand comes in contact with a smoother surface, and also much colder to the touch. He turns and looks for Luke before calling out.

Hey, when you say different, do you mean something like this?

   Adam

Hearing the request of Luke to search the wall.  Are you kidding me. How's that anybetter than blowing a hole in the wall. For all we.know this so called entrance will take into another Sanctum base. Then what?! I'd sooner rather sit here and wait for Sanctum to find me than walk right back into one of those cells.

Adam took his sword and decided to rest along the wall.

Wake me up when those suited up freaks find their way here. ,

 John and  Mike

I've got to agree with Adam. I know we don't have alot of options but just looking at different walls for the slightest difference doesn't sound like the best use of our time.

John decided to take a seat on the dead end wall qnd took a light blue ball from out of his bag and begun tossing it back and forth between his hands while he thought of something else.

  Were did you get that.

I found it next to me when I was putting supplies in my bag like a room ago.

  Uh ok.
Turning to Luke and the rest.

Leon and Celine

Leon turned to Adam and John.

Could you two chill out? No one's stopping you if you want to just wait down here for Sanctum to find and kill you. They know we're down here somewhere, and it'll only be a matter of time until they find us.

Celine ran up to Leon, grabbing onto his arm in an attempt to calm him down.

Leon-

No, Celine. We're very limited on options right now, it seems.

Celine took a step back. Leon rarely ever snapped at her like that.

Are you alright, Leon?

Yeah, I'm fine. It's just... we'll talk later.

Celine let it stop there, choosing not to press on. She was still a bit worried about Leon, though.

Luke

Luke walked over to where Soul had called from.

Hey, when you say different, do you mean something like this?

Could be.

Leon touched the area on the wall that Soul had spoken about.

Well, this is different. Let's give it a shot.

Luke focused on the area on the wall with all of his mind. There was a sort of cracking sound as the panel split apart. He was instantly hit by the cool night air, which contrasted greatly against the warm, damp underground. Suddenly, a light briefly flashed over the hole. Luke quickly ducked to the side.

Copter! Everyone get down!

Well, on the bright side, it appeared as if they didn't come up in any facility. On the downside, Sanctum was everywhere looking for them.
Title: Re: [RP] The Outcasts |Time: Midnight|Weather: Mostly Sunny

Soul

Soul ducked to the side opposite Luke. A few things things popped into his head after what Leon and Luke had said. One: The Sanctum was looking for them, and they knew where their general whereabouts were. Two: The Sanctum was searching for them, and thoroughly. Three: They were stuck somewhere near the facility they were just in, (possibly a nearby town), and if they wanted to escape into wherever without being caught, they would have to be extremely cautious in order to escape.

Soul whispered to the others, If we leave this tunnel, make sure to hide anything on your person that is possibly reflective, including the blades of your weapons; their search lights could hit it and find us instantly. Second, make sure you always have a partner or partners. Soul looked to Luke, knowing that Leon would probably prefer to stick with Celine. If you don't have anyone else in mind.

Nexalas

He ran to them, but then started walking softly when he noticed the hole. He nodded to Soul.

Grab any kind of cloth you can find for any exposed weaponry. I suggest we go with groups of two at most and split up.

He proceeded to rip off both of his shirt sleeves and wrap it around his scythe, which he then attached to his back with a strange carrier of sorts.

Sone

He nodded, looking to his sword. It didn't appear to reflect any light, but to be sure he ripped off his sleeve off of his right side and put it over his blade's hilt, the sheathe not having any metal on it.

I'll go with Nexalas. My guess is that the safest place to escape to is the desert.

Oh good your here Mike looks like were gonna be workin together on this one.

working together on what exactly?

Pausing for a moment
I don' know........i guess were just running toward the desert right?

Adam

You seriously want to go out there now!

Adam peered his head outside see the chopper make another round  over top of them ducking his head back in.

I guess splitting up isn't that bad an idea but isn't there an odd number of us. I guess I can go on my own.

Soul ripped his undershirt out form underneath his armor. He ripped it so that he could fit it over his sword and shield together, then fitted it on.

I guess splitting up isn't that bad an idea but isn't there an odd number of us. I guess I can go on my own.

Soul heard this and held up his hand in objection. He looked out the opening again to see the helicopter sweep over their location again.

No, you stick with me and Luke. He's the most experienced of our group, and will know how to handle the extra person.

Leon, Celine, and Luke

Luke nodded.

Soul's right, Adam. You'll be with us.

Leon looked at Celine.

Good. Looks like we'll be together.

Right. Great.

Celine was actually relieved to be able to be with Leon.  They hadn't truly been alone together since over a week before they left for the original mission. Despite the circumstances, she felt that this was almost like a blessing in disguise. Even though they wouldn't really have time to chat, at least they were together.

Suddenly, Luke pulled out his 3D map again, still whispering as he spoke.

Ok guys, turns out what we found back in the prison was a dynamic map.

A dynamic map?

Yeah, it changes with our location, and this one apparently covers from central Sanctum to the Eastern Sectors of the UCE. Luckily, I doubt that anyone knew that the guard had this map, so we shouldn't be tracked. So, here's the plan. We're now in the UCE, and according to the map, there's an old abandoned warehouse a couple miles to the north.

He pointed to a point further up on the map.

We'll all meet up there. Each group will leave at a different time, and head in a slightly different direction. Note that we're basically in the middle of a big empty field, with ditches a little farther out on all sides. To the west, there appears to be a forest of some sorts. To the east is an old, abandoned city. Leon and Celine will leave first. They'll head straight to the west, and once they get a little ways into the forest, cut north, and then eventually northeast to the  warehouse. There appears to be a stream that runs through this part of the forest, a bit past the warehouse. Keep the stream in sight and follow it, but don't stay too closely near it the entire time.

Got it.

Sounds good.

Alright, next will be John and Mike. You'll travel in a similar manner as Leon and Celine, except you'll head east to the city, and then cut north. Just know where the main road is at all times, but don't stay in the open. The main road will take you to a small stretch of forest, but I think it ends there. It looks like the road heads slightly northwest, so once you get into the forest, just go straight forward, and in no time you'll be at the warehouse. Sone and Nexalas, you'll go next. Head northwest to the forest, and once you get there, just keep the river in sight. My group will go last. We'll head southeast into the city, so we'll have the most distance to cover, but the map should help us. Sound good to everyone?

Yeah, but uh, we kinda need to take out that helicopter first.

Wait. Shh. You hear that?

Sure enough, they could hear voices. Leon cursed under his breath. This could be a problem. Suddenly, the heads of two soldiers peered into the hole.

Here! There in-

The soldier stopped suddenly, a blast of fire pouring out of Celine's hands and out of the hole. It flew right over Leon and Luke's heads, flaming hot. The soldiers screamed as they staggered backwards and fell. Leon turned to look at Celine with wide eyes.

You can control f-

He stopped, his head turning in the direction that Celine was now pointing, out of the hole. The helicopter was now coming toward them. It likely saw what happened to the soldiers.

Grea-

Leon stopped again as there was a sudden, booming, roaring sound. Two large fighter jets, bearing the Renegade's mark, soared towards the helicopter, seemingly coming out of nowhere.

The heck?

A short, air-borne chase took place before the pilot of the helicopter was forced to eject out of the plane, in order to save his life. As the helicopter spiraled to the empty, barren field below, the fighter jets suddenly vanished into thin air.  As the pilot opened his parachute, it burst into flames, and he panicked, cutting himself free. A terrible scream pierced through the sound of the plane crashing as the man fell to his death, the parachute floating down fine, with no sign of the flames that were apparently there a moment ago.

Well, that's one way to take care of the helicopter. Leon shook off his horror and confusion, pulling Celine up off the ground.

Come on! We've gotta go! Now's our best chance!

They ran over to the spot underneath the hole.

Luke, give me a boost.

Luke nodded, allowing Leon to step on his hands as he pushed him through the opening. He then helped to pull Celine up. Turning around, he noticed something ever so strange, something that he did not expect to see. The soldiers that Celine had blasted earlier were rolling on the ground, gripping their faces and screaming of burns, yet they were fine. Or at least they seemed unharmed here in the dark of the night. Then Leon realized something, but first, he had to take care of the soldiers.

Celine, you might want to-

Yeah, don't worry.

Celine closed her eyes and looked away, yet she still fliched as Leon ended the soldiers' lives, almost regretting having to do the deed. No time to sit around, though.

Come on!

He grabbed Celine's wrist as they headed toward the forest in the distance.

After this entire scene, we've got a max of five minutes before whatever reinforcements show up. Count to thirty, then get yourselves out of here, same goes for Sone and Nexalas. If you see anyone other than our little group, get out of sight; do not engage. If someone else is near you, being attacked, and you can quickly help, then do so. Otherwise, keep going.

Soul then turns to Adam, and sports a menacing scowl.

Out of our group, you leave first, so you don't lag behind. If either of us passes you, just hope we don't.

Watching Celine and Leon running in the distance Mike began  to count as told while John decided to take a look out of the hole.

Everything seems clear, can we go now.

Yeah lets go.

Mike jumps up to the hole grabbing the edge pulls himself out. He then turn back to pull John out. On there way out they saw the two dead bodies of the Sanctum soldiers.

Gee, way to make a mess.

Come on we don't have time to waste.

The two head off to the east of the tunnel towards the old abandoned city.

Nexalas nodded and looked to Sone.

All right, when we get out there don't talk, use sign language.

Sone nodded.

Good plan, but be careful, that Scythe of yours could be the end of you.

I wouldn't worry about that, you'd be surprised what can be hidden in the dark.

When it was time for their turn, they jumped out of the hole and into the night, quickly but quietly making their way towards the river.

Leon and Celine

As Leon and Celine broke into the woods, Leon felt Celine begin to slow down. Through ragged breaths, he whispered loudly to her.

Don't... don't slow down! Come on. We aren't... we aren't safe yet!

Cekine was having difficulty keeping up, and felt as if Leon were nearly just dragging her along.

Leon... I-I can't! I ju-

Celine tripped, landing straight on the ground. She tried to weakly push herself up. Leon stuck his hand out, offering to help her.

You alright? Come on, we'll be safer in a minute!

Celine grimaced in pain.

Ow! I think I may have twisted my ankle.

Leon cursed under his breath, or rather, the breath he was attempting to catch.

You know what, come on, hop on my back, I'll carry you.

Without protest, Celine did so, and they continued on as quickly as possible.

Luke

Luke looked over at Adam.

You need to drop the attitude, especially if you want to survive.

It was as simple as that, and he felt that he didn't need to carry it on further. He then climbed his way out of the tunnel, reaching his hand down for the next person.

Come on, we need to hurry.

You get up there and start running towards the city, southeast. Stay low, don't look behind you unless we call. John and Mike

John and Mike arrived in the city after a long run. With the moon shining bright over head the city could be seen clear as day, it was old and desolate. The city was in ruin, barely any buildings were in tact. The two decide to take a rest to catch there breathe and figure thier next move.

Whew....this place is abandoned, so where do we go next.

Uh..we follow the main road and then...then...umm.

Head north?

huh Ok, why not?

Alright then we'll just follow this road till we end up outside the city then head north to this factory.

Sounds good! Lets go.

The two set out following the main road looking for a way outside of the city toward the factory.

Adam

Adam finished winding his arms, grabs his sword and walks over ignoring Luke's words and trying to tune out Soul's. Adam grabs Luke's hand and pulls himself up out of the hole. Turning back to Soul with an uncaring look.

You don't have to keep repeating yourself. I'll go on ahead and meet you guys there.

Adam runs ahead going toward the abandoned city.

Soul

Soul watches Adam exit the tunnel and run off. Soul shakes his head slightly, trying not to pop a vein.

I swear, if we weren't pressed for our lives, I'd make sure he was. When we're in the clear, I've gotta do something about him. Attitudes like his are what get entire squads killed.

Soul climbs out of the tunnel and bends his knees, staying lower. Good thing this set of weapons is black. He turns towards Luke. Lets get going. If we take any longer we might put all of the others in danger.

Soul takes off towards the city, taking long strides while keeping on his toes.

Sone and Nexalas

As they were running, Nexalas noticed Sone starting to get tired, even though he was trying his best to hide it. He then looked around and noticed a ditch not too far off. Nexalas motioned to it as they were running, and Sone simply nodded. They both quickly went into the ditch and sat down in the shadows, Sone breathing hard. Nexalas peeked out of the ditch to make sure there weren't any patrols, and besides the helicopter and burning corpses there was no one. He sat down and sighed.

Don't push yourself Sone, you may be powerful but your also limited.

Sone was silent for a moment, but then looked to Nexalas.

Let me ask you something: Why do you act as if you know me? It's not like we talked much before this.

Nexalas thought for a moment, then sighed.

Well, I owe you my life, that's one reason. It was back when... actually, I'll tell you as soon as we get to the warehouse. And if I cant, after that.

Sone grunted in annoyance, but nodded. He then got up after a short rest.

Let us continue. The longer that we sit here and dawdle the more likely that we'll be found.

Nexalas nodded and got up as well, and with that they climbed out of the ditch and continued running quickly to the river.

Leon and Celine

Leon collapsed near the riverbed, unable to go any farther. He just let himself lie there for a moment next to Celine, attempting to catch his breath. Being stuck in that prison really did a number on him, and now his stamina had been completely emptied. Eventually, between short, heavy breaths, he spoke.

You alright?

Honestly, I'm not sure. The fall just now? That was fine. My ankle? It hurts terribly.

Well, I don't think we can run anymore  right now.

Agreed. Let's just stay here for a moment, then we can discuss our next move.

Fine by me.

Luke

Luke could tell that Soul was annoyed by Adam, and he was a little bit, too. When they'd get a chance, he and Soul would have to straighten him out. For now, though, they needed to get to the city. Luke stood, sprinting forward toward the other two, catching up with Soul.

John and Mike

After walking for about an hour or so the to two young rebels decide to slow down and enjoy the what little peace can be taken from their situation.

Sooo....what do you think this city was?

I don't know.

You think they lived under Sanctum control?

Probably.

How big do you think it is?

Not sure.

How far do think we have to go before we reach the edge of town?

Who knows.

We're just walking around an empty town while a legion of armed super killers hunt us down to capture us aren't we?

Pretty much.

Well it can't get much worse than this can it?

I don't know.

The two continue onward looking for their way out of the city.

Sone and Nexalas

As they neared the river, they slowed down and looked at the area around the lake. They were both silent, but then Nexalas made a few motions with his hand.

Let's not follow it too close, that would make it easier for a patrol to spot us.

Nexalas noted that there were plenty of plants and bushes of different kinds in the area around the river, and there was more foliage closer to the river. Sone tapped Nexalas' shoulder and made a few motions.

Let's take advantage of the area and stay at a safe distance, and be careful. There seem to be a few patrols here and there.

Sone pointed to a few lights moving around along the river, and Nexalas nodded as they hid in the semi-dense foliage and followed the river towards the meeting point, making sure they stay in the shadows.

John and Mike

The two find themselves in the heart of the city walking towards an oncoming intersection. Most of the buildings have toppled barely any of them still stood but the roads were pretty much clear.

Ugh. How much longer do we have t-

Then out of nowhere Mike pushes John into on of the few intact rooms of the surrounding buildings.

Hey what was that fo-

Shh!

Placing his hand over John's mouth looks through the doorway back into the street. Mike can see  lights coming from the other road followed by two soldiers patrolling the area.

There are two Sanctum soldiers out there in full body armor. What do you want think we should do?

Are there anymore of them coming?

I don't think so.

Then I say we take'em out. It'll make it easier for the other when they pass through here.

Wait that doesn't sound well thought out.

John had already left the room and  began to target one of the patrolling officers. Turing on the laser light on his crossbow John prepares to fire.

*sigh* He's gonna get himself killed.

Mike begins to go around the building to end up ahead of the soldiers. John aims for the back of one of the soldiers neck and fires one of his bolts fir an instant kill. The soldier falls to the ground while the other turns in surprise pulling out his gun aiming toward john with his laser sight still on and reaching for the communicator in his helmet.

Why can't he just think things through.

Mike runs up to the distracted soldier and stabs him through the torso with his claws.

Hey John you still there?

Uh, yeah.

Then grab that other guy and come on, we gotta put these guys somewhere and get out of here before anyone else shows up.

Right.

The two hid the bodies under some rubble and began to follow the road more cautiously.

Adam

Adam had arrived at  the entrance of the city looking back he couldn't see the others.

Guess I ran a bit to fast. Geez, maybe i should just head inside the city myself.

Adam stood around deciding whether or not to venture in the city on his lonesome or wait for his team member to show up.

Soul

Soul could hear Luke coming up behind him. He slowed down as to let him catch up for a quick talk.

Once we get there you've gotta tell us where to go quick. Whether it be a road or through some woods, whatever. And once we're in the clear, probably past this warehouse, we've gotta set Adam straight.

Soul sped up once again, not wanting to keep Adam alone for too long. He knew that Adam was a capable fighter, but he was lousy and arrogant as far as he knew, and that was dangerous in their current situation.

Soul ran up behind Adam not half a minute after he saw him stop, and he looked to be deciding what to do next, as if he knew. Luke's almost here, stay low, make sure nobody's around. We'll get going again in a second.

Luke

Luke arrived in the town shortly after Soul, who was standing next to Adam.

Ok, first thing's first. We need to find cover.

He looked around the old town, eerie in the darkness. It was difficult to see here, but he could tell that these buildings were in terrible condition, and were not that safe to hide in. He then saw a group of lights up the road, piercing the vast blackness. He pointed to a nearby building that looked several stories high.

Alright, let's go in there. Hurry!

He sped towards the building, hoping the others would follow.

Leon and Celine

Shh, wait, Leon, you hear that?

By now things were fairly quiet, as they had both calmed down, and Celine had used the contents of the first aid kit to heal her ankle. It was currently wrapped, and was therefore slightly limited, but thanks to the advanced medicine in the kit, it no longer hurt. In fact, in should be fully healed soon.

Leon listened intently. There were voices coming from not far down the river. Leon grabbed the hilt of his hammer tightly.

Crap. Get down, they're soldiers. We can't run, they'll hear or see us. Plus, you're still slightly injured. We'll just have to hope for the best.

He drew his hammer from his belt, ready for anything, as Celine drew her boomerang from her bag that sat beside her.

Soul

Luke comes up behind Soul, and tells them of the next step.

Ok, first thing's first. We need to find cover.

A group of lights appeared up the road, piercing the vast blackness. Luke pointed to a nearby building that looked several stories high. Soul assumed that he meant to hide there, and such was confirmed.

Alright, let's go in there. Hurry!

Luke took off towards the building, and Soul took off behind him, after tapping Adam around his shoulder blade.

Adam

Hearing Soul's words Adam decides to wait for Luke to show up. When he does he tells everyone to take cover as everyone noticed the coming lights from up the road. Soul tapped Adam's shoulder pointing where to go. Adam stood still and began to weigh his options.

Go into an abandoned building that could collapse at any minute or run the risk of being captured by Sanctum again.

Adam shrugs his shoulders
I got nothin better to do.

He began to run to catch up with Soul.

So much for me stayin in the front

Sone and Nexalas

As they quickly walked through the foliage across the river, they heard voices a little bit ahead of them. As Sone heard this, he put his hand on the hilt of his blade, prepared for the worst. They noticed some lights moving around on the edge of the river and stopped, hiding in the shadows of their lights. Luckily they seemed incompetent from what they are talking about.

We've been searching this part of the area for hours and no sign of them, let's try moving down the river some more.

Our superiors will likely kill us if they found out we've been slacking, let's give this area another sweep.

Sone was about to move in for the kill, but then noticed they didn't actually go into the foliage, instead they shined their lights around the area, looking for movement. After a few minutes of searching they went down the river where they came from. Then after waiting for a few seconds Sone and Nexalas began moving again up the river again, getting closer to the warehouse.

Luke

Upon entering the building, Luke felt immediately blind. It was pitch black, and he couldn't see a thing. Maybe they could just wait until the squad of soldiers passed. Then again, this building could hold abandoned, useful supplies, but it also could not. Regardless, without a light source, they would not be able to search the building.

Leon and Celine

Leon let out his held breath. The soldiers had walked past he and Celine without taking notice. The only problem was that the group of what he estimated to be about three soldiers were still close by, and there was no way that he and Celine could make it through as long as the soldiers were still there. Leon motioned for Celine to stay down as he got up into a crouching position. Quietly placing his hammer back on his belt, Leon crept forward extremely carefully, cautious not to make a single sound. As he expected, there were three soldiers, with two traveling in front of the other. Leon quickly, but still quietly, reached forward, putting the soldier in the back in a choke hold of sorts. The soldier thrashed and struggled, but Leon held a firm grip as the soldier suffocated. Eventually, the soldier went limp, and Leon placed the dead body on the ground as silently as possible. He then motioned for Celine to get up, just as he had, and pointed at one of the two remaining soldiers, indicating that she was to get him by surprise and take him down. He could tell that she was nervous, and even heard her breathing. He wanted to help calm her down, but there was no way that he could possibly do that without making a sound, so he just hoped for the best. Right before going in for the kill, Leon stopped in his tracks as the soldier in front of him talked.

Hey, Jimmy, are y-

He turned around and stopped short, seeing Leon and Celine.

That's them, get 'em!

The soldier pulled his gun on Leon, who was forced to pull his attention away from his girlfriend. Before the soldier had a chance to fire the gun, Leon grabbed it with his left hand, throwing it to the side as he drew his hammer with his right hand. He suddenly heard Celine begin to scream, which was cut short by a splash. Alarmed, Leon thrust the hammer into the side of the soldier, who grunted heavily as his ribs cracked. Leon left the soldier as he fell to the ground, running over in a slight state of horror, yet remaining calm, as he saw the other soldier trying to drown Celine in the river. He swung his hammer into the side of the soldiers head, and there was a resounding "Crack!" as the armored fighter fell into the stream. Leon quickly grabbed on to Celine's flailing hand and yanked her out, before turning to the soldier in the river. Dropping his hammer down beside him, Leon grabbed the soldier's head with both hands and firmly shoved it underwater until the soldier drowned. Picking up his hammer and turning to the soldier he left on the ground, Leon ended his life with a swift blow to the head. He then walked over to the first soldier he had killed, bending down to the still intact armor. Pressing on the soldier's helmet in the spot that he knew would activate the headset of many other soldiers, he spoke, anger clearly echoing through his voice.

Listen here, soldiers of Sanctum. You lay another hand on my girlfriend, or the rest of my squad, for the matter, and I will personally hunt down and kill every last one of you.

He grabbed Celine's bag, and then quickly made his way back to his girlfriend, who was bent over on the ground, still gasping for air. He tried to keep his voice as calm as possible.

Listen to me, Celine. I know this is difficult, but look, we have got to move if we want to live.

Celine attempted to nod as she slowly stood, taking her bag from Leon and picking up her boomerang off the ground. Returning the boomerang to the sheath on her bag, she attempted to respond.

Yeah...ok...let's...let's go.

Leon picked up one of the soldier's assault rifles, also pulling a clip off of his body. It could certainly come in handy.

Soul

Soul crept into the building behind Luke, hoping the soldiers hadn't heard the three. It was pitch black in there, the kind where you feel like there's always something behind you, watching. While the soldiers were still walking by, he could hear one of their comms device spout a few sentences.

Listen here, soldiers of Sanctum. You lay another hand on my girlfriend, or the rest of my squad, for the matter, and I will personally hunt down and kill every last one of you.

Soul felt his way to the wall closest to the group of men, and pressed his ear to it to see if there was anything else. Two of the guards were talking among themselves.

... happened, the commander heard it too. He'll send more guys out, likely with some wolves too. We'll get these pests.

If we don't, what'll you think he'll do?

Just keep searching and shut...

Soul pulled away from the wall again. That sounded like Leon at first. what could've happened? He turned away from the wall, still blind. He whispered to Luke, Go for a wall and feel around for a light switch. Sometimes cities are still supplied power for emergencies. Soul began to feel around himself, despite the risk the light would cause.

After a few moments of searching, Soul could feel his fingers gathering static electricity, despite his gloves. He took his hands and rubbed them together, hoping for magic. What he got was literal magic: in the palm of his hand was a small charge of electricity, no bigger than a clip of ammo. It provided a dim, blue light that illuminated the entire room, but only enough for basic sight. He tried to send the electricity outwards, and could feel his father's marble heat up through his bracelet, but nothing more.

Still whispering, Soul says, Hey Luke, scratch the lights, I've got it covered. Human light bulb. Look for some kind of storage cabinet, feel around for supplies. I'm going to find a bathroom and maybe get some medical aid. He waits a few seconds for Luke, then locates a hall and looks for a bathroom.

Luckily, there was one, but with only minimal supplies. Soul locates a half empty bottle of rubbing alcohol and a bit of gauze, and puts both in his bag. While exiting, Soul sees a flash out of the corner of his eye. It came from the trashcan, where an empty bottle reflected the light from his electricity. He picks it up, thinking it could be good for a distraction if they need one. He then returns to Luke.

Got anything good? I can sit here if you need to search longer.

   Adam

Adam soon lost sight of Soul he was running to fast for Adam to catch up.

Man I can't believe I lost those guys. They gotta be somewhere around here.

The empty darkened city began to get to Adam and sensation of loneliness began to loom over him. Flashes of his old city came to him. He saw dead bodies surrounding him, buildings were a flame. Adam fell against a nearby wall covering his ears, shaking his head trying to comeback to reality. Suddenly Adam was brought back to his sences hearing the voices of soldiers approaching and saw a blue light illuminating from a near building. Rushing over to it sword ready he saw Soul and Luke rummaging through the buildings supplies.

  Oh, it's only you guys.

Adam immediately calmed down back into his usual tone of voice.

Hey guys think we can get going, I'd rather not stay in this city too long. Brings up nad memories, you know.

Luke

Upon searching the building, Luke discovered that it was, at one time, a house. They were likely around halfway into the UCE, if that, and so once Sanctum had captured the UCE, they probably just left the city here to rot, migrating its citizens to a location where they could be put to work. It was sad, disgusting even, how Sanctum treated these people. Just as bad, these people are all far from liberation, as the Renegade doesn't even have enough forces or power for a true, full war.

As he continued to search around the house, Luke found a picture of the family that had lived there. It was of a mother, a father, and a young son. A lump in his throat formed as memories of his childhood and early days in the Renegade Army began to surface. He tried to push them away as he set the old, faded picture down, not wanting to be in the house anymore. He quickly walked over to Soul and Adam.

Let's get out of here. Those soldiers should be gone. Just remain fairly quiet.

Soul

Adam entered the building, seeming a little panicked.

Hey guys, think we can get going, I'd rather not stay in this city too long. Brings up bad memories, you know.

Luke then walks over to join the two.

Let's get out of here. Those soldiers should be gone. Just remain fairly quiet.

Soul tries to dissipate the electricity that he had been holding in his hand. At first, it tries to get larger, but Soul stops his efforts. Then he tries to imagine it fading, and something surprising happens. It sinks into his hand, giving him a jolt, and a feeling of life. It runs up his arm, and he can feel his torso heat up for a moment.

Running on a whim, Soul tries to summon another small bit of electricity, and to his surprise, it forms quicker than the first one. He then holds his open palm to the middle of the room, and the bit of electricity floats towards the ceiling, and suspends itself in midair. Soul then closes his hand into a fist, and the electricity dissipates.

Soul turns towards the others. Well. I guess I can manipulate electricity. I can use the light as a distraction if need be. This could be good. Soul then looks at his bracelet, and thinks of his father. Did he know that I...?

John and  Mike

Extra: Soldiers

John and Mike have been sneaking across the city crossing from building to building avoiding the patrolling Sanctum soldiers.

Man how big can one city be we should've already reached the edge of it by now.

We've had to keep taking detours but we shouldn't be that far off. Now shush!

Looking back and forth Mike watched for any soldiers. Crossing the empty road he signaled John to follow.

John casually following behind Mike.
I'm just sick off all this walking.

Suddenly a light flashes on John. A soldier from around the corner had spotted John. The soldier reached for his and turned his head yelling.

Hey guys I found them there over here

John took his wristbow and quickly fired at the soldier. The small arrow hit the soldier in his abdomen but his body armor easily repelled the bolt but it did startle the soldier.  John began to run and caught up with Mike quickly grabbing his arm pulling him along.

Hey wait a sec. Why are you pulling on me.

I made a mistake a big mistake. Come on we got to keep going.

The rest of the soldiers had caught up with the first and began to give orders they went that way  you come with me the rest of you go around and cut them off.

The soldiers followed order and began to run ahead. The 2 soldiers chasing Mike and John had already begun to catch up.

I guess that whole ordeal back in those cells is starting to show.

Then out of nowhere 3 more showed up from another road. The two turned down the closest road but it lead to a dead end.  They were surrounded on all sides by fallen buildings and rubble. Then the 5 soldiers showed up behind them with their guns already out.

  Open fire!

The soldiers began to fire at the pair. John and Mike quickly ran inside a whole in the wall behind them. Then an onslaught of bullets began to shred through the walls. Each shot only inches away from hitting the two. Adam tried to use his wristbow to fire back butt the shots had either missed or had been repelled off the armor the soldiers were wearing. A lucky shot had hit one of the soldiers in his helmet piercing through it hitting him in the eye. It had slowed down the number of bullets being fired but still made little difference. Then a fire could he heard followed by what sounded like falling water. John couldn't tell were the sound had come from till he had looked over at Mike. One of the bullets had pierced through his shoulder and he had fallen over holding the wound.  John reached out to him but as more bullets began to shoot forward he held himself back. John began to grind his teeth thinking to himself.

Crap! This is bad I need to do something but what. My arrows can't even hurt these guys. I need something, I need power. If only the others were here this be a lot easier to handle.

The leader of the soldiers began to give more orders.
Cease fire! Move in, let’s get those carcasses and then report to commander.
Turning to the soldier John hit in the eye.
You stay back we'll get you some help right after this.

Four of the soldiers began to slowly approach a worried John and a wounded Mike.

I've got to do something, anything! Why can't I help those I care for.

John tried to clinch his fist in anger but he found himself unable. He felt something cool flowing in his hands thinking he might have been hit by one of the bullets. When he looked down at his palm there wasn't blood but some kind of ball or orbs to be exact, it was a little bigger than his palm but it felt weightless like air. John grabbed the orb with his fist and began to think once more.

With this I might be able to do something but what does this do.

He gripped harder on the orb and a sharp pain began to rise from his palm. The orb started to spin, at first it was slow but it began to pick up speed. John began to scream from the pain of the orb grinding on his palm. The soldiers stopped for a second wondering what could have made him scream like that. Although more cautious the soldiers continued to move forward. When John looked back in his palm the orb had gotten much smaller. It was like the size of a bullet. John began to lose faith at the sight of this not sure what to do again. He decided to take the chance. John rose from behind the wall and faced the soldiers. The captain who was a head of the group but a few meters away from John took the pistol from off his side aiming at John. John held his own hand up as if it were a gun with the orb hanging just off his index finger.

Hey, what do you think you’re doing! What is that in your hands?!

I don't really know. But I guess were both going to find out.

Things had fallen silent and John had broken the silence with one word

  Bang.

The bullet sized orb had released itself from John's fingers with those words. In reaction the captain of the soldiers fired his pistol. The force from the orb had knocked John over causing the bullet to just graze the side of his head. The orb had hit the captain dead in his chest, on contact with his armor the orb burst releasing a tremendous amount of force, blowing up a large degree of dust and rubble. It had shattered the armor of the captain killing him in an instant and it had blown away the other three soldiers knocking them against the wall. The force from the orb and the impact of the soldiers caused the walls to fall apart on top the other three crushing them. John slowly picked himself up and then rushed over to Mike.

Hey Mike, Mike!  Come on get up we can't stay here.

Hey in my bag, get the medkit and bring it here.

John did as requested and got the kit. Mike took a needle with a  special serum that could  help cell regeneration and stuck it in his shoulder. Then he took some bandages and wrapped them around his shoulder. John helped pick Mike up.

  Ok let’s go.

Going back to the main road the moon began to shine brightly on them once more. The soldier who John shot in the eye could be seen when the exited. He backed away quickly then reached for his communicator.

Hello to anyone listening we require immediate assistance.  Our coordinates are-

But he had stopped something had pierced his helmet. Following the angle it was Mike shadow.

Guess I can still be of some use.

Mike gripped on his injury still not healed and the two began to head towards the exit.

   Adam

Adam looked out the building ready to leave, he turned back to the group.

Soul I don't think we’re going to need your light for a distraction.

The squad of soldiers from before turned back after hearing the one of their allies cry for help. As they did Adam crept out of the building they were taking refuge in awaiting the others to follow.

Sone and Nexalas

As Sone and Nexalas quickly ran through the foliage, Sone noticed something and slowed down. Nexalas was confused at first, but then slowed down as well, scanning the area.

We have company.

Just then, two wolf-like creatures jumped at them, one on the left and one on the right. Sone quickly unsheathed his blade and blocked and Nexalas quickly spun his Scythe upwards, blocking the wolf with the dull part of it's blade as the wolf ripped off the cloth that was hiding it.

Well, that happened. Let's kill them quickly, they tend to heal fast.

They wont get to once I'm finished with them.

With that, they both jumped at the wolves, Nexalas doing a spin attack while Sone stabbed at the other dog towards it's head. Nexalas slashed down at the dog, stabbing into it's back as it yelps in pain, but the spines on it's back protected it from any major damage, then the wolf shook it off and jumped at Nexalas, however he was prepared and blocked with the staff part of his scythe. Sone missed the dog as it moved to the right to bite at him, but Sone quickly countered it by slashing it's jaw and ultimately cutting the lower jaw clean off. It hacked some strange colored blood as Sone kicked it away, the wolf landing on it's side as Sone charged at it.

Luke

Luke shook his head.

He's going to get us killed. This far too dangerous. Those soldiers are more alert now than ever.

He drew his sword from his belt as one of the soldiers turned toward Adam. The soldier turned to the other four in his squad.

Hey, there they are!

Luke cursed under his breath. he was out of mana, Soul had just discovered his, and Adam, was well, not the most reliable.

Soul

As Adam begins to walk around the corner of the house, Soul can hear the nearby soldiers spot the trio. Luke shakes his head, (apparently in disapproval).

Hey, there they are!

He's going to get us killed. This far too dangerous. Those soldiers are more alert now than ever.

Soul can hear the group of soldiers footsteps nearing, and decides on something a little risky, but may just save their group. He turns to Luke, deciding to take the lead for a second.

I'm going to distract and disorient them. When I do, you run, not directly to this warehouse, somewhere close in case we're followed. Make sure Mr. High-on-Life follows.

Soul pulls out his sword and shield, getting ready for his plan. Can't say I'm not resourceful. Just hope this works.

Soul dashes around the corner, past Adam, and while holding his shield up charges the soldiers. The soldiers pull out handguns, aiming them at him. One of them fumbles with his holster, obviously surprised.

Hey, you! Submit quietly and quickly!

Soul, not being one for orders at the moment, dashes right up to the soldiers, and bashes the one in front with his shield, instantly crumpling to the ground. One of them shoots at him, but misses, and Soul can hear one whisper that they were wanted alive. Soul turns to the other four, and spears his sword right through the closest ones waist, drenching Soul in blood.

Focusing on three things, (his magic, an instance of spreading, and his marble), Soul pulls off his disorienting strike. With his sword still through the soldier, Soul releases a bolt of lightning that jumps to each of the soldiers, stunning them and overloading their electronic communication systems. Soul removes his sword, and begins to run in the general location of the warehouse.

I know Luke's my superior, but I hope he listened when I said run.

 Adam
The soldiers had seen Adam lurking outside the building.  They had taken their guns preparing to shoot Adam then suddenly Soul rushes from behind toward the soldiers and in a impressive display using his magic takes them all down. Then Soul turns back and starts running off to the north.

Hey were is he going of too.

Adam walks up to the fallen soldiers and nudges one of them in the side with his foot. The soldier begins to groan after being kicked, this surprised Adam a bit.

Huh guess you can't get them all. Alright guess I'll take care of this straggler.

Adam raises his sword over the opposite shoulder he's holding it in. Then Adam sees something out the corner of his eye. One of the soldiers, with a fractured helmet, began to pick himself up while feeling on his head.

What the another one of them is still kicking.

Adam takes his sword and brings it down but adam turns on his heel and throws his sword at the rising soldier. The sword hits him in the side knocking him over. Adam walks over to the soldier to retrieve the sword but then the sword begins to form cracks and starts to fall apart until iit ultimately turns to dust.

Well I guess it wasn't gonna last forever. And wether this guy made it or not he probably gonna bleed out. I should probably get going since I don't have another sword.

No one else was around and although Adam wasn't to surprised he started to run catch up with his team.

Sone and Nexalas

Nexalas shoved the wolf back, but before it could recover Nexalas quickly slashed the wolf's underside where it was weak, cutting right through it's chest and ultimately killing it while Sone jumped in the air and stabbed the wolf he was fighting in the head. He pulled out of it and scanned the area to make sure there weren't more of them before putting away his blade. Nexalas simply left the cloth off, deciding it's best to just hide it from sight. Sone quickly communicated with his hands.

That was close, let's get moving. There's a chance someone might have noticed that.

Nexalas nodded, then they both disappeared into the shadows.

Leon and Celine

How're you holding up?

Leon felt far more comfortable to speak in a slightly louder voice now, the lights of soldiers having disappeared hours ago.

Eh, I'm making it. You?

Well, considering the circumstances, I'm alright.

The two continued in silence for a while. For both Leon and Celine, there were son many things they each wanted to talk about, so many questions they wanted to ask each other, but for both of them, their little flirts and questions just seemed too lighthearted and innocent for the moment. A little while later, Celine tapped on Leon's shoulder, causing him to look up from the ground as she pointed forward.

Hey, Leon, is that it?

Leon squinted. A little ways ahead was what appeared to be the warehouse they had been going towards.

Yeah, I think so, come on.

With a much quicker pace, they continued forward, soon arriving at the large building that was indeed the warehouse. Leon slowed as they neared the entrance, Celine coming up just behind him. He turned back to look at her.

Shall we go check it out?

Of course. You first.

Leon nodded, drawing the assault rifle he had taken from the soldier earlier, just in case. He then proceeded with caution into the door of the warehouse, only to discover that its dark, enormous, single room was almost completely empty, save for several large wooden crates. Leon checked all the crates, but simply shook his head as he turned to Celine.

Nothing. Empty.

Good, it looks like it hasn't been used in who knows how long. I mean, just look at the dust, and those yellow windows. Well, the few windows that aren't busted, anyway. I doubt we'll run into any soldiers here.

I agree, but we should still be watchful.

Leon sat down on the hard cement floor, removing his backpack and his hammer as he leaned against the wall, placing the two items, along with his gun, on the side of him.

Yeah, definitely.

Celine sat down next to Leon, removing her sling bag as well. She then unwrapped her ankle, which was a dark, bruised color.

Ouch, you sure you alright?

Yeah, it really doesn't even hurt much anymore.

She wrapped it up anyway, then proceeding to prop her head on her boyfriend's shoulder. Things were almost eerily quiet until Celine spoke again a few minute later.

Hey Leon?

Yeah?

Leon waited for answer, but never got one.

Celine?

Still no reply. Sure enough, she had fallen asleep, and despite his best efforts, it wasn't long before Leon dozed off, too. Despite the rest they had gotten for a little while in the tunnels, they were both still exhausted.

Luke

After making their narrow escape from the soldiers, Luke continued on with Adam and Soul, ducking in and out of buildings. At one point, he even came across some ruined buildings (more so than the others), and several dead soldiers.

These bodies are still fairly fresh. Must be from John and Mike, no doubt.

He continued onward, not having stopped for long. Eventually, he came to a stop, pointing ahead.

There, not far up the road. It's the forest. According to my map, that path will lead to a location not far from the warehouse.

Soul

After Soul stunned the group of guards, he ran through the city and hid the the outer edges of the forest they were to cut through to get to the warehouse. A few minutes later, Luke and Adam show up, and Luke points to a path that he states will lead them to the warehouse.

You two can follow the road if you want, but I'm going to travel a bit in the forest, with the road still in sight. There might be soldiers that are patrolling the road. Then he thought to himself, Plus, I need some time to think.

Soul began to walk alongside the road while staying inside the forest. He planned on walking ahead of the other two, but he didn't want to be too far out of reach. While walking, he thought of his parents, his father Kelvin and his mother Asoka; he thought of his girlfriend, Tanya; he thought of his school mates, and the teachers that he both hated and had fun with; and he remembered his real name, which he hadn't spoken in so long, and didn't plan to until everything had gone back to normal. It's a regular name, for a regular person. It will remain that way.

While walking, Soul looked at all of the plant and animal life. There were the moonbulb flowers that flowered in moonlight, peaking around dawn. He saw vines that crept and tried to choke the giant oak trees, but to no avail. He saw a family of squirrels, out for the morning to find breakfast, the father and mother both in front and behind the four children. In the midst of all the chaos, Soul had forgotten that the world was alive, and that everything breathed; the trees, the animals, the ground, the air, the clouds; everything around them was alive.

Soul decided that when they got to the warehouse, he would sit outside and keep watch; for both guards and wildlife. And besides that, I want to practice manipulating lightning.

John and  Mike

After walking for what seemed like hours John and Mike had finally made it to the outskirts of the forest.

This is ridiculous we should have been to this factory hours ago.

And we would of if somebody hadn't been seen when we were suppose to be sneaking around.

Hey that barely took any time. But me carrying you sure has slowed us down

  I'm fine. Why don't you check.that again.

When John looked up and he had noticed that instead Mike being supported on John's shoulder it had been the opposite. John backed away quickly surprised at the role switch.

Why would I even need support. And how can you even stand let alone support somebody with your injuries

Hey I got shot in the shoulder not my leg ofcourse I can stand. Besides I still have one good shoulder and you haven't been that stable since we left the city.

Although John hadn't noticed it until now his legs had been wobbling since he let go of Mike. So much so that he ended up falling over landing against a tree trunk.

I'm guessing you used up too much of your mana back their. Now come on let me help you up.

Mike reached out his hand towards John but he wouldn't take it. Instead John uses the tree for support. Lifting himself up John tries to stand on his own.

Come on the warehouse isn't that far. Lets get going.

  Uh right.

John and Mike continued to walk towards the warehouse although John kept falling over and clinging on trees for support. Until after several minutes the two finally made it to the warehouse. It was bit rundown from what could seen outside the building was obviously old. The outer walls were covered in rust, the windows were either cracked or broke and there wasn't anyone around.

Think we're the first ones here?

No way. I'm sure someone else is here. Lets check inside.

Going inside the warehouse it seemed even darker then it did out side. The only light coming in was from the broke windows. From what could seen there was nothing but dusty crates in here.

Man why can't anyplace we go to hide have florescent lighting?

But Mike hadn't responded to John's ridiculous complaint.  John thought this to be odd and decided to go over and check on him.

 Hey Mike something wrong? Oh.

The two slightly embarrassed find Leon and Celine sleeping, resting on one another. The two slowly go back outside to give their teammates some peace to rest and decide to wait for the others to show up. The forest was pretty quiet. It must getting close to daybreak. The moon was begining to set as it grew closer to the horizon, birds could be heard chirping and insects making their own strange noise. Mike decided to take this quiet time to talk to John.

Hey John there's something I've been wanting to ask you over the years.

  And what would that be?

Mike was a bit nervous to ask. He took a small gulp then opened his mouth.

Have you ever thought we've been wasting our time searching for her. I mean in these years we haven't learned a thing. For all we know Alice might...... she might be dead.

John didn't respond to Mike he just looked out in the distance. Tension began to build between them as things quiet down. Then John finally responded in a serious tone of voice.

Mike I can understand why you would feel like that. I won't force you to keep up this search of ours. Doesn't seem like I'd have much time considering current circumstances. But I know she's alive and I swore I'd find her. And I plan to do so.

Man you really are a determined guy. I don't plan on giving up either. Not like you could handle a search on your own.

John let out a slight chuckle after hearing Mike's renewed determination. The two continued thier light hearted awaiting the other to show up.

   Adam

After Luke had cuaght up with Adam and Soul and told them the direction of the warehouse. Soul had decided to go of trail and search surrounding area. Adam turns to Luke with soomething on his mind.

Hey how long are we gonna stay in this forest? And frankly how long do we plan on running around like this?

Luke

Luke let Soul wander off.

Just don't go too far. In fact, just go to the warehouse without us.

As Soul walked away, Luke turned to Adam.

We won't be here too long, just enough for us to get a quick rest. We have to stay on the move until we can figure something out. I don't know how long we'll be like this, though...

Luke trailed off, deep in thought. He then stopped himself.

Come on, the warehouse isn't too far ahead.

Luke began to head into the forest, the warehouse a little ways away, yet now in sight.

Leon and Celine

Leon, generally a heavy sleeper, apparently was on the lighter side of rest. He woke up at the sound of voices, and hoped that it were that of allies. He slowly got up, careful not to wake Celine has he set her head down on his backpack. At least that was a little better than being on the cement floor. Picking up his hammer, Leon slowly crept toward the source of the voices. He soon recognized them as belonging to John and Mike, and so he sheathed the hammer back on his belt, picking up bits and pieces of their conversation. When they finished, he walked outside to meet them.

Hey guys, looks like you both made it here alright. Look, I wasn't eavesdropping, but I couldn't help but overhear you talking a minute ago. Mind telling me who Alice is?

Sone and Nexalas

As they neared their destination they left the foliage and approached the warehouse quickly, making sure they were unseen. Nexalas noticed Leon, John, and Mike as they emerged from the side of the warehouse.

Well, looks like we made it.

Has anyone else arrived besides us?

John and  Mike

As John and Mike continued to talk amongst each other. Then from the warehouse came Leon asking about John and Mike's earlier conversation. John startled took a few steps back once Leon appeared.

Oh, morning sir......uh I mean Leon. So you heard us talking huh. Well Alice is...........well she's…………hmm.

John was somewhat flustered to answer Leon's question. Mike took it upon himself to explain.

Alice is an old friend of ours and our entire reason for joining Renegade. See she was kidnapped by Sanctum back when we all you used to live in an orphanage. Although we don't have any proof we think Sanctum might have been testing children for the ability to use magic. The fact that me and John can actually use magic somewhat backs-up the theory.

John slumped back against the wall, keeping his head down he grew saddened face and began to speak.

But there's a problem to that. If she does have the potential to be a magic user Sanctum has probably already found out. Which means Sanctum has probably forced her to fight for them.

Then from around the corner appeared Nex and Sone asking for the were abouts of everyone else. John stood up when they came deciding to stop talking about Alice and changing his face to a more joyous expression.

Oh you guys are here, good. That means the others shouldn't be too far behind.

   Adam

After Luke answered Adam's question he started to walk off in the direction of the warehouse.

Man running around the UCE trying to escape Sanctum doesn't sound ideal. Man nothings good has happened since we escaped that prison.

Making his small complaint Adam slowly followed behind Luke only a few paces back thinking about all the other things that could go wrong before the sun rises.

Soul

Soul, being slightly impatient and excited about his recent gain of the ability to use magic, had started to practice while still walking through the woods. He didn't want to do anything too big and draining, nor anything that would draw attention to their whereabouts, but he did try to do something. Soul began to summon small spheres of lightning, similar to the one he had in the building. He increased and decreased the size of them, ranging from that of a kickball to as small as a pill.

Soul tried small little tricks with his magic. He took the pill sized sphere and snapped his fingers, and learned that he could either absorb it into his fingers for a small zap to whatever he touched, or aim it in any direction he chose. He took a bigger size one, and Soul found that he could form and move a shield made of pure electricity. While trying to shape it, Soul accidentally made a bubble of electricity that surrounded himself, startling the nearby birds and other critters, along with himself. Starting to get tired, Soul cut the action.

Soul continued through the forest for a while before coming up to the warehouse. He formed the pill again and sent it to the middle of the small group that had formed outside before making it expand into nothing. He joined the group of five before slackening from stress and exhaustion.

I can control electricity, and form it myself. I'm a true member of this squad now. Soul noticed the group consisted of only men, and felt the need to ask where Celine was. I heard your message to the Sanctum, Leon. Is Celine ok? Luke and Adam aren't far behind, if you were wondering.

Leon

After hearing what Mike and John had to say, he realized that Alice meant as much to them as Celine meant to him.

We'll find her.

He wanted to say more, but couldn't think of anything else at the moment, feeling more tired than before he took that small nap. He then turned to Soul, who had asked about Celine.

She's inside, sleeping. Can't say I blame her.

Luke

As he was walking towards the warehouse, Luke saw a bright light.

What is that?

Nearing the warehouse, Luke saw the light disappear, and figured that it had been from Soul. He soon arrived to the group, noticing that Adam was not far behind. After hearing Leon speak, he turned to Soul.

Be more careful with your magic,, I can see it from far away. I don't think there are any soldiers around, but we have to be cautious. In fact, why don't we all start heading in?

Regardless of whether the others listened or not, Luke when into the warehouse himself.

John and  Mike

Leon had given some reassuring words to John and Mike uplifting the mood around. Then a ball of light appears from no were then suddenly vanishing Soul came out from the same direction the light did. He explained the light was his and that he found out his power. Seemed like it made him feel more like everyone else.

That's great Soul. I found my magic out too. I can make bullets..(dramatic pause)..that explode. Its awesome!

Then Luke appeared telling Soul that his light could give everyone away. Then before going inside suggested everyone to go inside.

I get we've all had a pretty exhausting day but shouldn't someone keep watch incase soldiers show up.

   Adam

Walking at a calm pace Adam showed up a couple of seconds after Luke. All he heard was Luke telling everyone to get inside. Which was all Adam wanted to hear he drowsily walked up to the doors of the warehouse.
*Yawn* Guess I'm the last one here again. I'm gonna rest inside if anybody needs me.

Adam walks in slowly swaying from side to side. In his daze he trips over one of the crates fallling over. Instead of getting up Adam decides to just sleep on the floor were he had fallen.

Soul

Luke shows up and quickly but politely tells Soul to "put his light out", and Adam shows up behind him shortly. Luke suggests that everyone get into the warehouse, and Adam immediately stumbles in, tripping over a rotting crate, and falls asleep. Mike mentions something about someone watching for soldiers, to which Soul perks up at.

I'm not so exhausted as to needing to rest. I can sit in the doorway and watch for anyone while were talking, and maybe when Celine wakes up and is rested we can switch. Soul began to yawn, but then held it in, realizing that sleep can wait. The safety of everyone is priority.

Nexalas and Sone

Sone walked into the warehouse without a word, a bit lost in thought as he sat down on the floor to meditate.

My blade has been taken and we managed to escape, but something does not add up. Why use my blade to kill a squad leader? The only thing that does is make them look stuck up and ignorant, like someone who has been feared by the entire world just did something childish. What is their real plan?

Nexalas nodded as everyone else soon arrived.

Well now that we're all here I can start making a plan. Those of us that are tired should rest inside; however, we need to decide on who will take watch if we decide to sleep here tonight.

Luke, Leon, and Celine

As he stepped into the warehouse, Luke turned to Nexalas.

Well, there are two entrances, and they both need to be watched. Soul has already volunteered to watch this one, and I'll get the other. Once the sun rises, we'll switch out.

Leon heard this, and so rose his hand slightly.

I'll do it.

You sure? You've exerted yourself possibly more than anyone else. You need the sleep.

Leon shook his head.

Don't worry about it. I'm used to doing extreme work on little rest. with the reputation I have, the Renegade always sends me on the most demanding missions.

Well alright, go inside and get some rest.

Leon headed inside, and Luke turned to Nexalas and Soul.

Now we'll need someone to watch the second door for the second shift, and two people to watch the door for a third shift. So, talk among yourselves and the others, and decide on someone to take those shifts. Also, spread the word that we will leave at noon. I've got some planning to do.

Luke then proceeded to head inside and through the warehouse, all the way to the other doorway where he was supposed to keep watch.

As Leon went back to his spot on the far wall, he saw Celine, sitting up, her eyes wide open.

When did you wake up?

As soon as you had gotten up, but it's no big deal.

Leon set his hammer down by his gun, sitting next to Celine again.

You sure?

Of course.

Things were quiet for a moment, before Celine spoke again.

I see people like you, Luke, and Soul. You guys can seem to kill those soldiers, and other enemies as well, without much of a regret. The guy in that helicopter back there...

She trailed off for a moment, her voice getting a bit thick with sorrow. A moment later she continued.

Leon, do you... do you remember your first kill? Does it ever get easier?

Leon though for a small bit before answering, trying to find the perfect words.

Yes, I do. I do remember my first kill. I unfortunately remember many of my kills. And it never gets easier, but you eventually you realize that it's either you or them, and on a larger scale, you either kill a few soldiers, or you abandon the hope of freedom.
Title: Re: [RP] The Outcasts |Time: Dawn|Weather: Clear

Nexalas

He nodded and followed Leon inside, thinking a bit and looking at Sone. Sone was a powerful and respected captain, and was once powerful enough to take down twelve soldiers with little effort. However, he was old and tired, and honestly has lost his touch over the past three years. Not to mention the fact that even though it isn't obvious, Nexalas knew he was exhausted. He turned to Luke.

I think it would be best that I take the next watch. After my watch, I think our only option is to escape into the desert away from here. I do not know what we will do, but no matter what we cant return to the Renegade. Even if they did somehow accept us despite our magic, Sanctum will no doubt use us to lead them right to the Renegades base...

He then crossed his arms and tilted his head down, in deep thought.

We DO have one place to try and go but... it might be too risky.
Title: Re: [RP] The Outcasts |Time: Dawn|Weather: Clear

Luke

Luke looked up from the map outstretched before him, deep in thought.

Hm? Oh, Nexalas. Well, unfortunately, I was looking at the desert as well, but we'll have to make our way through the outer edge of the UCE, which is extremely dangerous. I don't see any other plausible option though, so it looks like that's the route we'll have to take. I've been mulling things over, and I fear that if Sanctum manages to follow us into the desert, then they'll chase us north, into dangerous, uncharted territory. If that happens, we'll just have to lead them north with us, for they are no more prepared to handle that threat than we are. At the very least, if the Renegade is watching, which I'd imagine so, what with all of their spies, it'll at least create a small opening. As to how useful that will be, I can't be certain. On the other hand, Sanctum may not chase us through the desert, figuring we'll die there anyway, which may certainly be true. Should this happen, we have yet another difficult path ahead of us. In this case, we would have to wait until things die down, possibly even fake our own deaths, which shouldn't be to hard, what with Celine's illusion-like magic. Then, our best option is to sneak back into the UCE, and form some sort of counter strike, maybe even start a rebellion. I can't see us being able to take on the Overrulers out on our own, so our best chances lies in the rebellion and destroying Sanctum from the inside.

He paused for a bit.

Thoughts?

Nexalas

He thought for a moment, and hesitated before speaking.

It might work, however I think we should have a back up plan in case if things go south. Celine may have the power, but like the rest of us she lacks experience and control.

He hesitated, but then continued.

There is a possibility that we might need to find shelter outside of the desert... I don't want to go into full detail right now, I want to go over this plan in my head first before I know if it would be ideal or not if things go wrong.

Luke

Luke shook his head.

That won't work. I've been on a few missions around that area. We used to have a base way out there, but Sanctum obliterated that, and everything else. Face it, our options are limited. We either run north or we hide until we can fight back. Our actions depend on whatever Sanctum does. On one hand, they could chase us down and publicly execute us if we are caught, but that could also make them look desperate. On the other hand, not chasing us could make it seem like they don't really care. Either way, we'll just have to wait and see. Do I like it? No, not at all. Do we have any other options? No, none that seem possible. Anyway, go, you need to get some rest.

Luke turned back, his tired eyes carefully watching for any possible danger, although he doubted that anything of that nature would arise.

Soul

Soul was sitting in the first doorway of the warehouse, keeping first watch, as he volunteered. He was still happy about finding out that he could control electricity, so he was still snapping his fingers, sending small jolts through his hand. He hoped he wasn't using too much of his energy, as the magic was in fact being channeled back into himself, along with the fact that it was so small that Soul thought it wouldn't make a difference.

Soul stopped his snapping for a moment. He was staring out into the woods again, watching everything wake up. He could see the dew on the leaves of both the trees and bushes; the paths in the grass where previous squirrels and small animals had run through and gathered the water on their fur; the sun coming up on the horizon, with the sky a misty whitish-blue.

Soul hears some rustling in the bushes outside. Soul looks in the direction, and after a few moments, a wolf like creature emerges, and while still looking menacing, happens to not appear in a grumpy mood. It is bigger than a regular wolf, but appears to be starved, it's skin looking like it is stretched across it's bones.

The wolf stops, sniffs the air for a moment, then looks at Soul. Soul looks back into it's eyes, and sees not only a fierce and magnificent creature, but also one that is scared and struggling in this world, just like he was.

The wolf approaches Soul, and appears to not harbor any anger or intent to harm. Slowly, Soul raises his hand, trying to appeal to the wolf. At first it snarls, but then it moves it's head closer to Soul's hand. Soul allows a small bit of electricity to run from his finger to the wolf's head, lightly scarring the wolf. In surprise, the wolf backs up, and begins to follow one of the smaller animals paths. It turns back to once again question Soul, and before it leaves, Soul can see a change in it's eyes.

Good thing animals have always liked me.

Leon, Celine, And Luke

Leon, wide awake, walked over to Luke as soon as the sun rose. Without even turning his head, Luke spoke.

I was just about to come and wake you. Shouldn't you have been sleeping, though? You really need the rest.

I uh... I couldn't sleep.

While Leon did feel fairly tired, he decided just to keep it simple, as only Celine knew about the nightmares that he was often plagued with. Luke knew that Leon was hiding something, but he chose not to press on.

Very well, I'm gonna go catch some rest.

Luke stood up, stretching as he walked back into the warehouse, leaving Leon to sit down and take his place, with only his hammer in his belt. A few minutes later, the assault rifle he stole from the soldier earlier fell in his lap, and his bag plopped down next to him. He looked up to see Celine standing at his side.

You might want that.

You should be sleeping.

With your tossing and turning? Nah.

Celine sat down, seemingly unfazed by the lack of sleep.

Bad dreams again?

Leon nodded a bit uneasily.

Yeah.

After a little while, Celine spoke again.

Kinda pretty, isn't it?

What

The sunrise, silly. Come on.

Leon glared at the golden sun as it rose in the dark blue sky, casting a dancing light throughout the treetops.

Yeah, it's one of the few nice things left in the world.

Celine gave Leon a small nudge.

There's more good in the world than you give it credit for. Just because it isn't obvious, doesn't mean it isn't there. You just need to look a little harder, dig a little deeper.

Nexalas

Nexalas was awake, only resting against the wall. His mind was too busy to be able to sleep, so instead he went over a few plans in his head. He noticed it was early in the morning, and got up. He stretched a little before walking to Soul.

I believe it's time for my shift, you look a bit tired.

Sone

Sone was asleep with one eye open, resting against an empty wooden crate.

Soul

Nexalas walked up to Soul, reminding him to change shifts. He mentioned that Soul looked tired.

Right. Though, it may be the stress. So much has happened today, over the past few days, and before that, the past few years.

Soul got up from his position, making room for Nexalas, and went to sit on a crate, a bit distanced from the overs. He started to meditate for a while, before realizing that it was useless without rest, and eventually fell asleep.

Nexalas

He stood where Soul was after nodding, understanding the feeling completely. He looked out at the desert wasteland, scanning the horizon and noticing a few familiar places. There seemed to be another ruined town off in the distance, he could tell there were barely standing buildings and ruined houses around that area. He sighed, remembering the place all too well.

... I wonder if someone still lives there... now that I think about it, that would be a good place to get ambushed or for soldiers to hide. I'll keep an eye on that area.

He continued scanning the landscape for movement, staying alert all the while.
