Title: Idea hub
Post by: DarK_SouL on August 12, 2011, 02:24:08 AM
Alright, I have had some ideas. I know some have been said, but whateva. These are just random.
Please use search before doing these.
Anyway, this is a hub for ideas. Just post what you think of. Here are mine.

Pokemall. To go with pokemart. But it is Gigatic. like 20 floors, and has all kinds of items.

Homes. But, they can be built wherever. Mebbe in a cave, I dunno, you can make a logo and place a flag, and people can only come in if allowed. etc. I mean not in certain places, you know. Mebbe there is a home island or something.

Select any pokemon (excluding legends, and babies, and must be first evolution of course) as your starter. I always wanted houndour as my first pokemon, but it's always the game starters in every mmo for pokemon.

@ Dark soul - I like the Mall idea and it'd be cool if there was only one and it was located in a place like in Pokemon games where it's always in the city type places

I like the home idea but then it would become a problem after many members joined PU, i don't think there would be enough space but to solve this i think it should be like secret bases in Pokemon games but instead it would be flags like you said but only you and your friends can see each others flags, a stranger would have to be invited or added in order to make your home flag visible.

@ Cortex - idk i see that as a problem what if someone picks a Dragon type or steel? They would dominate those who like the normal starters.

Well technically i posted an idea because i added to Darks idea  :P

Hang on, if someone did choose dragon, use ice, or dragon. If somene chose steel, use fire, fighting, or ground. each type has a weakness, and it would beat searching for that one favorite, now you have it. Just find the rest while playing.

And don't forget that the new system is meant to give people a chance to win with their favorites. Very different from the games. (had to post twice since I am using my phone, limited to 160 characters)

True, but there's already a thread for dreams.  This one is for ideas.

We can also hope they change there minds, i doubt they will but it would be cool..

Then again, with the beta coming out soon, the only thing they would change would be bugs. That's about it. I think it's too late for ideas now.

I guess I'm just in that kinda mood, but enough with the spamming of this thread.  Only post if you have an idea.

Agreed.

another idea - A good idea would be a screen shot button to catch anyone doing things against PU rules. This would also be helpful if someone is offering a service like level up but they don't give your Pokemon back.

Just use the print screen key on your keyboard. it copies what you can currently see on your screen. then just paste it on paint and save it.

If you give away your pokemon to another trainer, I'm sorry but your not too bright.

Also I have an idea for gyms.

Ok we're at the first gym.  The games leaders are usually lvl 10-15.  If you grind you can make the gym challenge easy because the leaders pokemon are always the same level.  Well I propose that the leaders pokemon vary based on the challengers team.  The leaders sig pokemon will always be one or two levels higher than the highest leveled pokemon on your team.  and the others will vary from one or two levels below to the same level.

There would also be a floor, ex: the first gym's pokemon will never be lower than 10 and the sig pokemon will never be lower than 12.

I think this would make the gym's challenging and add a level of strategy to the game.  You can't just run in after grinding and get an easy win.  It would make you need to think and plan the best way to achieve victory.  Also the badges would hold more meaning (at least in my eyes).

I like this idea. It gives the trainer a challenge and makes them actually use their brain to win.

Theirs going to be currency in the game so people are going to open services like that, iv'e seen it in every mmo iv'e played, so "If you give away your pokemon to another trainer, I'm sorry but your not too bright" is not true. It would be true if you gave it to a stranger to hold on to for a while.

also i like your idea but then it would be easy to beat them because what if a player under trains he would have it easy.
Title: Re: Idea hub

Not really because the levels vary each trainer would have the same challenge, the floor keeps people from walking in with lvl 5's.  Like if you walked into the sixth gym with a team of 10's the floor would be set at like say 40.  You would get crushed.

i want to ask one stupid question. I only ask this because my brother does this for fun. BUT! Are you going to write the script to make the gym leader's pokes lv to change. I don't know much about the subject, is that an easy task or is my worry valid?

As far as the script goes, I don't really know.  What I do know is that it would add some difficulty to the gyms.

As far as the floors, that would be up to the PU team.  Ez, I don't quite get what you're saying.

@Fox

Doesn't the game need to track your pokemon's levels moves and evolutions?

Yeah man it happens, it's not a big deal. lol

Anyway while I know there are no ev's in PU, I've always though a good system for them would be the usual system for RPG's.  Your pokemon levels up and you get so many EV's and you can choose which stat they go into.  If really would make the games better.  I don't really battle competitively in the games because EV training is just so annoying, and I get sick of it quick.

What i think would be most logical to conserve space in the PU map would be instead of shops you'd have to click on the player and when the menu comes up press trade, in there you can trade poke money, Pokemon, items, ect...

I was actually thinking of if a player wanted to sell something without spamming Shop messages
Example, I have 5 thunderstones, what if I want to go afk, but still sell them?

true...

What if there was one big secure shop that was for buying and selling from other players only? It would be like pokemon gts where you put an item up and leave what you want and you can be afk and the trade would still go on, unless that's what you meant in your first post? I thought when i read it that there should be a shop for every player

Well, IMO, if there are auction shops, there isn't the real need for someone to be a 'seller'... I would be more certain to get items at better rates there (as players are fighting over the best prices) and people would actually put their rare stuff there to get better revenue too, like this:

- Put up thunderstone for $20
- First player want to buy.
- Second player wants to have it too, and to do so, has to offer $25
- A third (or the first) now offers $30
- And so on, until no one can/wants to offer more to buy it.

Does Baton Passing make the opponents ridiculously difficult to take out? I don't think so, since you get a free turn attacking/setting up.

You can also use moves like setting up Spikes before hand and then Whirlwind and other opponent switching moves. Or just go with a scarfed Ditto, who gets all of the opponents stats + scarf and keeps his HP.
