Hey, the game is out, and it hauls some major ass (which is a goods thing, in case you didn't know). My PSN is Dracostar25 and I play online quite frequently. It's my first COD ever, so I'm not the best. But my friend (who is a COD expert) says that I'm getting pretty good, so its not like I'm horrible at it.

Not to hurt any feelings, but COD nowadays requires no skill. I had Every CoD up till Modern Warfare, then things just went poop. When our original tactics went to waste by stupid maps that give campers such advantage and noobs spraying their bullets everywhere, and getting proud of 40/1 KD ratio when all they did was camp.

Most first person shooters are like that now. I'm not saying all of them are bad, but all of them have noobs that camp and do all kinds of stupid and unfair stuff. If we didn't have noobs, games like CoD would be better.

i'm not really a fan of black ops except for nazi zombies.  i usually like the cod games better than halo but in this case i like reach much better than black ops. i just think it looks bad like the graphics are not good. =(

I reckon we should get some banter going with a PU members xbox tournament.

So like on COD or HALO or something.

Anyone up for that?  :D

I would seriously recommend BF:BC and all the games in its series to you guys, the gameplay is much more realistic, graphics are ten times better, objectives are more tactical and most of all.. You can destroy anything!

this is why i've been playing halo, it requires skill i mean because you don't die instantly from most weapons, you can get shot, find the attacker and take him down if your good enough. and for the people who like to just drive around in vehicles and get kills with no skill, the new perks can stop that

ex: someone is flying around in a banshie (plane) killing all in their path, you can just fly up with a jet pack and jack it from them

ex2: oh nooooooooooo your about to get run over.... wait quick throw up your armor lock and bamo it hits you and blows up.

ex3: someones got a tank and is wrecking everything but fails to notice you sneaking up from behind... then you jump on, plant a grenade, or if you don't have one you can literally beat... the... tank... to death

ex4: assassinations are sweet, sneak up behind someone and bam ultimate humiliation, cause they only ever happen when the opponent is trying to actually do something or they are afk (just realized this has nothing to do with countering vehicles.)

(oh by the way i'm not to sure how to do the quote thing i hope this worked lol)

Few things I want to say.

1) I revived a topic! Sweet!

2) The graphics for Black Ops sucks... on XBox and PC. But the graphics for PS3 are 1000000x better.

3) Why is is that people always want an XBox over a PS3? The PS3 has better graphics, free online play, and (best of all) no risk of overheating your system and having to replace it. Just an opinion/question.

4) A tournament sounds good, but we would have 2 different ones for PS3 and XBox (duh).

5) I can totally relate, Bing. Halo is better than CoD at many aspects like that.

Yeah, that's the only point you make about PS3 online, how about all the lag and bad communication system?

It's not "bad" it's "not as good". But It's like saying "I'm going to buy the DSi XL even though it's the same as a DSi and just costs more for nothing extra."

Played Black Ops, and immediately uninstalled it after beating the campaign. The game was just terrible in almost all respects. Modern Warfare 2 was miles better, not only in story, but in gameplay as well. Black Ops felt rushed and extremely short. I also hated the fact that there wasn't really a linear story. Rather they just spanned huge gaps and dropped you in at random places.

Also, whoever said Battlefield Bad Company, I agree with you. I've been playing a bit of BC2 online. I love the realism, the competition, and the amount of time you have to put into the game to level up.

I think Black Ops is just the memories of a soldier being told to someone interrogating him(that's what my uncle said, I'm not sure if it's true) and that's why the levels seem like they're just random places. I want to get Battlefield 3, it sounds like a good game.

That's exactly what it is, and what I've heard (not having played ALL of the COD games) is that this game was supposed to fill in some holes left in story-lines of other COD games.
Title: Re: CoD: Black Ops
Post by: chocobo on February 15, 2011, 11:53:21 PM
Ehh. I just hate games without linear stories. I like feeling accomplished that I conquered a story. I love knowing I was immersed in the story as much as the gameplay. You don't get that with Black Ops. You just get the satisfaction of killing a bunch of people from random areas of the world until it ends. Which isn't really satisfaction at all.

I think I'm just bitter that CoD has changed so much from the beginning. They've pretty much given up making good stories and giving the single player fan a lot of satisfaction. Now it's just "Hey, here's a trashy, rushed, and very short SP, but WE GOT MOAR MULTIPLAYER!!!!! ZOMG!!!"

yep but the poor graphics made me sell my copy i sold it for 50$ and the only thing i regret is buying it in the first place.
also the difference between mw2 and black ops is that black ops was made by treyarch and mw2 was made by infinity ward, and dam infinity ward is just better.

I preferred online from Infinity Ward, though I really do like Zombies, so that makes up for it.
I don't think the story was that bad. Sure, it can't hold a candle to the story of the Metal Gear saga or Silent Hill, but it wasn't bad. Modern Warfare 2 had some deep words about war from Captain Price.

The first five games were awesome, the MWF series was one of the best i've played, and WAW was (and still is) great fun. But Black Ops just... turns me off.

Not so much. Most action heroes have stubble. Woods is missing the mighty Mullet and Eyepatch of big boss, and his face is narrower than the Snakes.
What I like about Woods is his slowly dwindling sanity. I realized he had the Psycho Wrestler mentality of my girlfriend's father when I heard the way he said "See that HIND? *rapid gasping* We're gonna take it!"
Intentional or no, Woods was made extremely cool when they made him touched in the head.

The Russian Roulette scene had to be the best.
Woods: F**kers.. I'm gonna make them pay.
VC: You! No talk - Play! *Spins gun on table - lands on Woods*
Woods: What's the plan?
Mason: I'm thinking.. I'm thinking..
VC: No talk!
Woods: You can't kill me!! Fuuuu*k!!! *Gun clicks*

"Cod" Is WAY to bloody and violent! I can't stand it. I cringe whenever I see something like that. My brother was playing A "Cod" Game and there was a Mission where you was in a airport and you shot 10000 of inocent people...WHAT A SICK GAME! (Sick as in wrong, and gross) I had at least 4 nightmares about it.  :'( I prefer Pokemon  ;D No wonder people called me sassy  :-\ Even my Pokemon Explorers Of The Sky said I was sassy on my first go and I answered truthfully! (The bit where It picks what pokemon you are) But the good side to it was,

Sassy = Riolu

So I got to play as Riolu :D

No, it doesn't. You don't play it, so how would you know? It's rated M, so it's intended for people are 17 or older. And all of the violence is stuff that happens to people every day. In a way, it shows people how evil war is.

It won't corrupt my mind. I'm not one of those stupid idiots who decides that he wants to kill someone just because I played a violent videogame. And videogames don't corrupt minds. The minds are already corrupted, so the people are influenced by the game. If your mind isn't already corrupted, you can play games like that.

Well, if you are already violent and hunt, sometimes you shouldn't play them.

But they are just a way to get out anger so they don't kill, for some.

So, it goes both ways. Good for some bad for some.

I prefer Halo though, the Covenent try to hurt you as well, so its even.

I also used to think that, but I changed my thoughts.

While i think the idea of murder is appalling, video game violence is ok, i mean a shooter like halo and cod aren't that bad.  But i could see how a game could go to far.

Exactly. And I read in a magazine (I think it was Gameinformer) that as the popularity of violent videogames is increasing, the number of crimes commited by people under 18 has been decreasing. Which means that instead of the games corrupting their minds, it helps them to not get so pissed off that they kill someone.

I'm all for violent games. I personally love them. However, it's pretty evident that they are a little desensitizing. I'm also an avid shooter (real guns), but I don't hunt or anything of the sort. Just love some target practice or a day to go nuts at the range.

I don't know if any of this releases stress or not, because I hardly notice any stress anyway in my life, but I find it definitely enjoyable.

As long as we're talking about shooting real life guns:
My brother is one of the best M16 sharpshooters in America :O His score on the last test he took was perfect. When he goes to A-school, he could easily become a helicopter sniper, which isn't easy when your target is the engine of a speedboat in freakishly choppy waters.

On topic:
Revolvers aren't as useful in CoD as they are in real life because the issue of jamming was conveniently left out. Revolvers almost never jam, because the rounds aren't spring-loaded like a traditional pistol's.
In fact, that's also why the DE wasn't complete crap in modern warfare.

Your post count is a midget. There, I said it.

Revolver cartridges hold six bullets. Most pistols hold about eight. Two bullets will really only make a difference if both parties have god awful aim, because unlike assault rifles, pistols are precision weapons. it shouldn't take a good marksman more than six shots to down his target, and if you need to take more than one person out at once, an automatic weapon would be a better choice than any revolver or pistol.

But where would that leave automatic Pistols like the Glock.

It holds atleast 20 bullets a clip and is not increadibly accurate if you dont have increadibly strong arms leaving kickback an issue.

The only advantage is that they are easy to reload and are good short range weapons.

I've got a World War II Marine Corps combat knife. The blade is seven inches long. That's enough to go into someone's chest and come out their back.
Unless you're in a knife-on-knife fight, though, the blade itself doesn't matter. All that matters is how quickly you can make the knife move from its sheath to your target. if you ARE for some reason in a knife-on-knife fight in the middle of a modern battlefield for some idiotic reason, you'd want to hold the knife like you would hold a fencing saber.

@the pistol vs revolver conversation

Revolvers have speed loaders (assuming you have a topbreak or swing out revolver) which makes reloading pretty fast. If you have a fixed cylinder you're chanseyed! haha
