Title: What is your fav lead?
Post by: Mr. Fox on January 17, 2011, 11:21:20 PM
I want to see what people like to use as their lead. For me i like a baton pass drifblim. He can set up easily and then pass the stat changes to another, more suited pokemon. Give it aftermath and when the pokemon you passed to is dead he gets is a cheap shot! ;D

I like Aerodacty. He sets up SR and then proceeds to sweep the other team with an edgequake combo.

Sad thing is there is no stealth rocks in this game, so y'all might want to think of new leads. In gem 4 my fav lead was either breloom or machamp cuz they just effed up peoples plans, and in gen 5 I'm using tyranitar, but there is probably better. I haven't done much battling in gen 5.

Mr. Mime.
Has great speed, and can use trick immediately to switch a choice specs to the other lead. Then it also knows thunder wave so it can come in later in the game and cripple fast pokemon. Then there is psychic for obvious reasons. 4th move is Teeter dance.
Overall, just cripples the opponent's lead and maybe others later in the game.

Because that is the Togekiss moveset. Anyone who doesn't use it is either trying to surprise you, or bad.

Gengar. Because he's purple (you may be able to tell that I lack competitive battling experience)

Whatever my starter is for that game. It's normally five to ten levels higher than everything else.

Mine is usually 50-60 Levels higher than my other Pokemon.

I played through SS, and upon getting to the "Team Rocket/Radio Tower" Storyline, ....

Rival: Feraligatr, Lv 58
Me: Typhlosion, Lv 67.

I two-shotted his Feraligatr....

i go by increments of 5. for the first two gyms i go by increments of 4. Example gym 1: 16, gym 2: 20, gym 3: 25, and so on. the reason i start the first gym at 16 and not 15 in becaues most startes evolve at 16 or higher.

It's usually my fastest pokemon, as long as I'm not trying to level another one up. I always try to play balanced in the games, with 5 or 6 pokemon all being within 2-3 levels of each other. Most the time that makes me drasticly underleveled pokemon by the time I reach the Elite 4. My strongest Pokemon on Heartgold was only level 39 after I beat Lance.

I must agree with Declan_23

Gengar. Not just because he is Purple which is one of the majour factors I am choosing Gengar, but he also has very shiny teeth.

Crobat
it's fast and it can use confuse ray and toxic
so your confused on the first move then poisoned badly on the second, or if you switch out that poke is poisoned (and about to be confused). hahahahahahahahaz!
plus it can learn some bug moves (x-scissor) if a pesky psychic comes into play plus i teach it fly cause that's a great stall move that makes a poisoned pokemon take damage while crobat is safely in the sky.
also i would lead with my charizard because it will pwn anything regardless of type advantage, basically i release charizard and the other trainer backs down, it's just how it works.
i used to lead with snorlax or scizor and give them a quick claw so they might get the first move (it surprised the hell out of a lot of people lol)

Same but I don't find it a problem. If you've raised your 6 team equally and they've got good movesets I generally sweep the Elite 4 first time. That said I invest in quite a lot of revives, well 5 of every kind of medicine you can buy.

Anyway my competitive lead is normally a dragon (So Dragonite or Salamance) because it can be taught a varied set of elemental attacks and very few pokemon (ice and rock-flying sub type) are super effective against it.
