Title: Male or Female Pokemon
Post by: MyTh on December 16, 2011, 03:58:25 AM
Which did u catch and train?
Male only, female only, or both?

I have always used males, it's like a tradition thing lol.
Guys use male pokemon, and girls use female pokemon.

I caught females only to help fill up the pokedex.

How is that tradition?
Sure, I play as the Boy, but I don't usually care which gender the Pokes are. There is no real big difference in it anyway.

Every NPC in the game uses the same gender, i was joking about it being a tradition.
It just doesn't feel right too me.

Idk, there are some pokemon that feel better as male and some that feel better as female.  But for the most part I don't really care.

I would prefer to run female, as Attract is very annoying and most people run it on female pokes.

This I'll agree on. I do for some weird ass reason ALWAYS get a Female Torchic in Emerald (The few times I actually choose Trochic). But I feel that a Female Blaziken are just wrong D:

Now that you mention it, back in the days of Pokemon Gold and Silver (The originals), I used to always go for male pokemon instead of female. IDK why, it was the same either way, but I did.

Back in the day female pokemon couldn't have max attack.  It was changed in later gens but, that's the strange truth.

(Silent Sexism)

I didn't even know that back then, so...

Yeah.
And.
Stuff.
And.
Things...

Basically, for whatever reason, I always caught male pokemon instead of female. I actually remember doing the same thing in FireRed.

I went into Viridian Forest. First pokemon I see? SHINY WEEDLE!

*Checks gender*

"Female...Maybe I can find another one."

*Runs away, and continues to spend the next 5 days trying to find a Male Shiny Weedle*

I ended up restarting my game, and found ANOTHER Shiny female Weedle in the same spot. Again, didn't catch it.

Seems like every time i battle a wild female pokemon it has more hp/def than the males.

lol^ I still do the same thing.

I just catch whatever I find I want. There is an exception for those moments when pokémon like sneasel/snover/etc appear, then I catch the gender which design I like the best. ~

I just catch whatever gender of the poke I find, but I refuse to catch a male Ralts if I play on evolving it into gardevoir, that would be wierd...

Usually gender doesn't matter in that aspect. If it seems to have more stats, it is because of the IVs. Anyways I just catch whatever comes my way, except for the Nidos. There it really matters which you chose, since Nidoking has better Attack and Nidoqueen has better Defense. Since I like my Nidoking, that's the only Pokémon I will always care about the gender.

In the beginning i dont mind which gander is Pokemon. I only care when i want to breed then catch female Pokemon for the Pokemon and male for first attack :D

For me, it depends on what gender my character is and the "personality" I decide s/he have.
If I choose male, my only female Pokémon usually is my starter, the rare Pokémon I find when I don't want to spend time looking for males, Pokémon like Eevee for breeding purposes and for the Pokédex.
If I choose female, I catch both but mostly females.

I mostly pick male pokémon.....why?
Not many pokémons out there fit really that well as females..

Or sometimes i pick females for the better looks... *cough* F Roserade's longer cape *cough*
And in PU,im gonna shoot for 100% females at first...breeding till perfection ftw xD

Yeah, I'll have to catch some females for breeding.
My battle team will all be males though.

Ive heard a rumor that females lean slightly more defensively stat wise and males lean towards the attack stats. From what ive heard it is a very small amount but if someone could confirm or deny it id appreciate it (me and my friends have been arguing about it).

i've never heard of it but who knows its christmas ;D i will choose 3 males and 3 females

Well i can't comment on PU,but i can on regular pokémon

Male and female have no diference at all statwise...
Ex:My roserade is designed to be a lead and a hit'n'run.Yet it's female. It would have both outcome as male... or female.

Now,on some pokémon that evolve due to gender this can be seen....
Nidoking(atk) and Nidoqueen(def) for example.

It always seemed that way to me.
I can 1 hit a wild male pokemon 90% of the time, then a hit a female with the same pokemon and level, it survives like 60% of the time.
madness

Well, I guess that makes sense.

Males: Protecting their families from harm by intimidating, chasing and hurting intruders.
Females: Protecting their kids with their own lives instead of chasing away the intruders.

Nidoking + Nidoqueen = WIN! *nod*

According to that^ there is a difference.

According to that, there was a difference in Generation 2. In every generation since there is no difference, stat wise, between male and female pokemon.

me i allways use Female, why? i ussualy use Attract Teams, and since most people tend to use Males, it allways works, but i most of the times i use at least 1 male with Attract

I'm more into using females but I never use Attract, not since my Sapphire and Emerald. I prefer females because at least with starters, they are less common. But then again, I always have a mixed team, because most of the time when I catch the Pokemon I don't care about gender. I just get super duper happy when I get a female Eevee. And I love having a female Aggron for no reason at all.

I don't usually care, I do prefer to have an even number of male and females, but mostly I'm not that bothered.
Only when females use Attract on my males am I bothered xD
